Hi Vanessa, another lovely interview! What I was fascinated by was the fact that Precious decided to study in Ghana rather than study in the UK. It is something we rarely discuss or offer in the UK. Superb idea!
I know this vid is a few months old, but I went to University of Ghana 2003-2004 as an international student from the University of California system. Would highly recommend people study at this school. I was a business administration major and my classes in Ghana were tough! I also took some dance and drumming classes that were fun but also kicked my ass! Was a wonderful experience and according to my mother Ghana made me blossom into a wonderful woman. 😂
Oh wow!
Wow, we're glad you had such a positive experience with us.
Who else need a part 2 of this beautiful school. A proper tour of the school, ie, UGBS, pent, Jean Nelson, Akufo hall, their hospital, stadium etc.
Sure I will do this if I can get in touch with someone from the uni
@@VanessaKanbi If you want a student, you can get in touch with Nancy ua-cam.com/channels/C_QORjmB_7jOsh4a2pIXCw.html
She can also help you get in touch with admin and lecturers
@@VanessaKanbi please we need second part where you will basically tour the whole university of legon for us. And also check out Kwame Nkrumah university of science and technology in Kumasi please. Thanks Vanessa for the good work. Keep it up
@@VanessaKanbi the university have a new stadium.. Ultra modern hospital.. Botanical garden... I mean many content to create.. Check international students hostel.. Ish.. More foreign students to interview.... My time in legon we had about 30 Caucasian students from USA.. Political science class alone... So many students from USA and other African countries....
Akufo hall? Wtf is that
Thank you Vanessa for having me 🥰♥️
I've never seen such positivity, enthusiasm and love for a country before. If I were overseas, this lady would make me wanna relocate. Big ups🙌🙌🙌
I'm from the caribbean but my eyes is on Africa.....i really love the mother land.

I Love Africa and i really love and Wanna live in Ghana.
The campus is beautiful i love the fact that its so green and huge.
I like the fact that she choose Ghana university, such a sweet place to study 📚.
The University is massive and beautiful, I loved the air view. Such a great value for the money! She is so beautiful, wonderful outgoing personality and that smile. I liked your outfits very cute.
JUST LOOKING AT GHANA, I CAN'T WAIT TO 1DAY VISIT THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, I m from Kenya via the U.S.GREAT VLOG FOR SURE.
Ghana is a really beautiful country. I love you Ghana
I love this video. Please do an interview with an administrator who deals with international students. I would love for Caribbean students to consider studying at Ghanaian universities.
This is surely a great advice. However the cost of Travel to Ghana might be the main hindrance to such Students.
The tuition fee is ok and Cool and the payment might be in US Dollars or Pound Sterilng.
So Carribean students be very careful of Gh Universities because of the cost of living.
@SOURCESTV GHANA Crime and scams are rising all over Ghana.
So the foreigners ought to be very careful indeed.
Let us stop pretending Ghana is a paradise.
More foreigners than Ghanaians fall victim especially in hotels and Beaches.
That's what's App.
@@jamesbedukodjograham5508 crime is every where, no one saying. Ghana is paradise. I live in London our garage has broke into number of times. So dear crime is everywhere. I was pushed around by youths in my own neighborhood walking one afternoon to my house.

A good discovery of the University of Ghana Legon campus, very informative as always !!!
This was so amazing! Oh how I miss Ghana. 🙏🏿🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
What an opportunity for an official of the uni to contact our Vanessa Kanbi to showcase the entire campus ☀️🙏🏾
@@unitedafrica8778 wow that’s cool. Reminds me of OAU in Nigeria (formally university of Ife). I’m not sure if it’s still as nice as I remember, but it had similar vibes to this including hills and forests.
Do a university tour please ....ashesi,Cape coast uni and all of them pleaseeee.....that will be a nice series...thanks
Will do!
Cheers to new beginnings the African experience ,new narratives

When I think of a university campus, something like this is what I imagine. It's beautiful and very green. The style reminds me of Stanford's campus.
I really enjoy this kind of content. I always wanted to see some universities in Africa.
Thank you, what other kind of content would you like to see?
Love the video 🤩 omg 7 am classes i could never 😭
This is so beautiful, thank you so much for sharing!
wow i have never seen an overhead shot of Un. of Ghana b4
looks beautiful
Thanks
Yes ! Being a legonite is the best ever. The campus has everything you need. I also am in favour of a part 2. We enjoyed great entertainment on weekends. There are churches of many denominations, lots of student groups. Bush canteen and dining halls. The botanical garden, the new modern University Medical Center, so much space for walking or just strolling. Romantic places, lecturers residences, hotel/visitors accommodation like Yiri Lodge, Ford Foundation.
You can see I love my University of Ghana and I have attended a very prestigious university abroad but being a legonite is the best. Go Volta Hall!
Thanks for this video! I graduated from Legon from the School of Business (Bsc) in juli 1979, that makes it 42 years ago and have since then lived and worked in the Netherlands. Looking at the surroundings of Legon makes me feel very happy but at the same time makes me miss the surroundings of the University and Ghana in general. In my days the accomodation for students were much better than today, one had a room to him or herself. I guess the accomodation has improved as the number of students has massively increased. Thanks again!
No it hasn't sadly.

Looks Like a Great School to Attend!! Vanessa you are Wonderful as usual and so are your Guest!!
Love the greenery at the university 😍
The University of Ghana is beautiful! Nice interview.
I loved walking around the campus! 😁
🇯🇲 Building architecture, landscaping & general infrastructural layout looks very modern & harmonious.
Once saw a video of a university in Kenyan (lecture hall & dormitory) and was so disappointed with its dinginess, antiquated furniture & peeling paint on the walls.
The campus is so huge, some times you need a taxi to go to the other part of it. Beautiful campus can match some unversities in the west
Thank you Vanessa for this video with this interesting content. Thank you Hanna for sharing your experience with us. Good continuation. God bless you both.
I used to love a spot behind the great hall called Accra by night. I was in commonwealth hall and I will take a stroll up the hill at night and see most of Accra .such a beautiful sight. This was in the late 90s.
Thank you very much for your story, precious, I totally feel you on the thesis part. Meeting the Criteria was my biggest hurdle too. I want Micah and Sophie To go here too 😍

Excellent cinematography (especially ariel shots), also good timing to take this video when it is green.

Budget : simple and clear. Still cheaper than the UK for Foreigners . Precious, it is so nice of you to give your Impressions.
When to we get a tour of the University if you are authorised to do it. It is the best publicity I have seen for an African University.
many universities "abroad" don't even have campuses.

The best University in Ghana, Period!!!!
Feel like sending my kids there🎉🤗
The food at the restaurants at Legón are fantastic. I can still taste the fried fish with shito. Btw, this my dad’s Alma mater and we visited in the early 00s
Vanessa..I love this vlog!!! You have awakened the itch in me to get a Ghanaian passport for my US born kids..I went to secondary school in Ghana but not UNI..I will live it thru them..lol
Dont force your dreams on your kids..its not a good thing.. it cause depression...let them follow their own desires
@@kaydee934 I won't force but offer it as an option..depression is real ..also kids need guidance..not forced..this.life journey is rough and sometimes those who have gone through should serve as a guide so the young ones can do better..
If you are in the UK, it may not be a bad deal for the kids (especially if they intend working in UK/Europe or Ghana with their degree). However, should they land in the US, they will find a lot of challenges with the Ghanaian degree especially in the licensed professions (Medicine, Engineering etc). This has got nothing to do with the quality of our education but how things are structured in Ghana vs US. If your kids did A-levels in UK before pursuing college (either in Ghana or UK) they will be able to overcome some of these red tapes here in the US easily without much stress.
@@deeeball Very true but Ghana is our Country and all we have to do is to negotiate for the Total Recognition of our Degrees and Certificates.
It Is quite ironic that Ghanaian Degrees are not fully recognized in the Western World.
Why didn't our successive Governements make deals with Foreign nations Concerning the value of our Degrees.
Apart from Hungary and Swdeden Other nations have not fully accepted Gh Degrees.
However the UK and France now fully accept our Degrees.
On a Historical note America should have never gone into Vietnam to interfere with the affairs of other nations at all.
Vanessa we are waiting for tour in all the universities in Ghana.
Hi Vanessa!! Very nice. Though I've never been to the UofG, I'm sure that it's an excellent institution to learn in🤗🤗. Very very nice. Please keep coming out with more vlogs!!
It is sure is a great School to attend If given the Opportuntiy.
The history and the Geography Courses are unpredictable because of the calibre of Students who accept entrance unto the School since the early 2000 decade.
I suggest Geography Geology and History as therapy for the University system.

Where’s this lie from 😂😂
It's greener we have a little forest reserve with stream passing through . It's beautiful
KNUST isn't bad but University of Ghana, Legon is better.
Ooo Recycling! Pavement! How did I miss this oasis on my last visit. All the more reason for another visit.
Great to see the recycling on campus and it was definitely in use, as were the pavements 😄
Beautiful campus 😍
@3:51 Great Shot!
It's such a nice view of the campus !
Great content. Beautiful place
Impressive. I wish I had gone to that uni.
A little trivia: The whole of Accra was supposed to look like this (Planning, architecture, etc), that was plan of the government officials way back then but it didn't pan out.
That would have been so so wonderful 🤩, and i am certain this is possible.
Yes u are right Nkrumah's regime was the best
No. The British actually planned Accra/legon. Accra would have been prettier than it is now, with public squares, fountains etc. Nkrumah changed the original British plan. The same British had a master plan for Nairobi, and it's been followed up to today
Well Legon is a masterpiece of Architecture from the 1960s,However it could have been better than it is today in 2021.
It is a human institution not perfect but it can get better with time and age.
Check social Media,Petty theft is growing throughout the nation of Ghana.

It makes me want to go back to Uni/college too 😂
@@VanessaKanbi ok, so what are we going to study and who will pay our study fees?😆
Vanessa give us Legon over view one day, hall by hall,
What strikes me, is the sheer size of the campus compared to the ones here in Scotland. It’s like a small village, I’d definitely be late for classes 😂 A lovely campus nonetheless!
It is a beautiful campus
My alma mater!!! Good to see
This video is hilarious, Vanessa. You did the interview. The camera however captured the disparity between our educational system and our way of life. I saw the layout, the pavements, the greenery and a garbage bin that directed where to dump plastic bottles. Why does education at our universities not translate into our way of life on the streets, for instance in Accra. This is the irony of education in Ghana.
Thanks for what you do!
Firstly, the tertiary enrollment index in Ghana is 19%.
Secondly, we're a developing country. Just as all developed countries in the world today, they started dirty. Built wealth and stronger institutions along their developmental process- then they started to put the structures in place and clean up
Thirdly, akin to African countries, land largely belongs to local chiefs and kings. Unlike the US and China where local governments makes money of from selling land and/or collecting property tax to keep the municipality well maintained, that's not the reality in Ghana. As land prices goes up, people choose to buy cheaper land on the periphery of cities and towns. Greedy chiefs and sub chiefs would readily sell even the most inhabitable lands, so far as the money comes flooding in. They start building projects without that area being demarcated for development. Before you notice, we have whole communities set up without roads and basic amenities with residents clamouring for developmental projects and amenities. Putting local government and central government in a perpetual state of playing catch up.(kasoa etc) Later on in the future, people like you would use these same areas as examples as to why the government isn't doing well or spacial planning our towns and cities.
@@doungpornsaesue9908 "too much ado about nothing". Hardly made sense of anything you wrote here. Or are you equating poverty to "filthiness"....or simply put, we are poor so it is acceptable to be dirty?
@@Inercycl1 I'm in the process of editing. The send button hit faster. So read my comments once more
@@doungpornsaesue9908 so you are more or less saying the state institutions in this country don't function properly. That I agree. Students who graduate from the universities are the same ones who head these same institutions. Why do they not apply their knowledge at the workplace. That is functional literacy. You have again exposed the flaws in our educational system where a Ghanaian student gets first class at legon, a Rwandan student gets 3rd class at the same university but they perform absolutely better practically in Rwanda than in Ghana.
@@Inercycl1 please, don't put alternate narratives into my comment i didn't even propound on in the first place. Where in my comment did i mention or can it be interpreted that i meant :state... doesn't function properly?. Where did Rwanda also come into this?. Are you one of kigames farm trolls searching the internet to spread propaganda that they already do very well at?
My semantics were clear enough for anyone with a semi- educated brain to comprehend. If you don't get it, leave it therein intact for others in the future to be educated if they so wish!.
