I totally love this song. Even though I’m part English and Irish. I have lived in Scotland most of my life and the people I have met here affected my life profoundly , a lot are no longer with me but I loved and learned from them all. God bless them all never forgotten 🌸🌸🌸

Came here after I was reminded of the beautiful advert for Visit Scotland done by an old mate Simon Scott who died this week. He and fellow creative Andrew Lindsay chose this as the soundtrack for their ad. It's a beautiful little commercial and I think one of the most evocative travel ads I've ever seen. It's also a fitting tribute for an amazing man.

My feet may walk in America, but my heart beats on always in Scotland's Highlands. This is a tear-bringing version and full of depth and nuance, by all the musicians/performers. The lovely singer inspires finer dreams and brighter smiles with her every gesture.. Bless all.

This song is one that has been passed knee to knee through my family and I still sing it to the mountains each year on the anniversary of my Grandfathers passing. I enjoyed their moderate modernization of it..

I first heard this song decades ago, not sure who was singing, but the song itself touched me deeply and finally finding this version of the song is like coming home.... I can't hear it enough.... the music, the vocals, the video, all so beautiful.... I am not Scottish, but I know in my heart when I do go to Scotland I won't ever want to leave...

Fabulous song, and I cannot imagine there ever will be a better rendition than this. The video is terrific too, beautifully shot, so so very atmospheric. The closing scene of the fishing boat and the gulls is just perfect. I probably rereplay this every month or so. It's so uplifting.

The Silencers have changed a lot over 20+ years, centred on Jimme O'Neill and Cha Burns until Burns' death. They've always had a Scottish/Celtic feel since the first appeared. Unlike Big Country, their sound never got dated or tired.
O'Neill and Burns were also at the centre of another band before The Silencers, called Fingerprintz. They made some obscure but interesting records from 1979-82 that were anathema to New Wave. They were as "out there" as Joy Division, and just as unique.

beautiful video. It's amazing how many great versions there are. Sometimes called Purple Heather the song is just timeless. I think my favorites are this version by The Silencers and the one by Kate Rusby...
