Love the 1954 Mercury Monterey! Of the three years this body style was offered, 1952-1954, the 1954 is the most beautiful styling, with the excellent front chrome bumper-grille assembly and large red tail lights. Ten times more attractive to me than a comparable 1954 Ford, which shared the same body shell. And then there is the amazing 1954 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley 2-door hardtop with the clear tinted roof. Awesome! Far better looking than the equivalent 1954 Ford Victoria Skyliner. Another plus is this is the first year of the Mercury overhead valve Y-block V8 engine, coupled with the Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission, this one was a style leader and real winner for car buyers in 1953-54.
The 1954 was some hot car. The 1955 and 1956 were even MORE STUNNING for that era ! The 1957 out did all other cars for futuristic design. Doing it all WITHOUT FINS !
"well no matter what mercury model appeals to you most, the smart thing to do is to be from missouri for a half hour or so" 1954 mercury commerical what what the fuck do they mean by this??? ive been laughing at this for like a half hour or so

Wow! Ed Sullivan doing the voice over.

@@bigglesflysagain1749 ; Ed Sullivan had an indistinguishable voice.
Lincoln-Mercury sponsored his show at the time.
Ed Sullivision !
I had a 54 Merc with Merc-O-Matic tranny in 72.
Sounds like "Really Big Shew" himself Ed Sullivan in his younger days.
It was. Ed Sullivan had Lincoln-Mercury for a sponsor since at least the early 1950s
I am sold on the 54 Dodge, but I will visit the Lincoln Mercury dealer.
Friend of mine had one. He lowered it. How did you do that? He said I put had 4 cinder blocks in the trunk.

"I'm from Missouri. You have to show me." Point is they were trying to get you to see what Mercury could do--with a test drive, of course
@@gcfifthgear OHHH, that statement makes a lot more sense now, see ive never heard that expressing having grown up much later than this commercial.
