    I don't have a patreon or anything like that, the best way to support the channel if you enjoy the free, ad free content is to grab a copy of my book! No pressure though!

    @billaros1000 2 роки тому +31

    33:50 you'd be surprised, he can do almost full splits and pretty crazy back bends. Kyriakos is more mobile than people half his weight. He also regularly walks up mountains and judging by his ability to do 30 or even 50 reps with heavy ass weight, I'd say his heart is pretty strong. He's not the fastest by any means but if the goal is to survive melee combat, do not count him out

    12:00 the bit about progressive overload is really good.
    a lot of times people will assume it means "add weight next session" (a la starting strength) but it really means improving 1 variable from workout to workout.
    if you can add 1 or more reps to each set next workout... that's actually really good, but even just adding 1 rep to any of the sets is still progress. that's progressing in reps. you could add another set in the same rep range. what you described would be lowering the rpe/increasing the rir, which is where on paper you do the same exact workout as last time, but each set has more reps in reserve

  • @edwardrice2848
    @edwardrice2848 2 роки тому

    Yes, re: 14 - it’s best to think of progressive overload as the natural result of training, more than you need to force the body to adapt by adding x weight or x reps. Take it when it’s there but if you’re forcing it without auto regulation it may not be a) productive stress and b) doesn’t actually mean you’re stronger.
    It’s important to change to the above mindset once you’re more intermediate and especially if you started with starting strength LP style stuff.

    • @edwardrice2848
      @edwardrice2848 2 роки тому

      The easiest way for me to visualize it is like taking daily body weight. There are peaks and valleys but the trend should be towards your goal, either up or down, over time. Sometimes it’ll stay the same, sometimes up, sometimes down, but over a longer period it has to be up (or down with bw ex).
