We love you IRATE GAMER!! ^o^
many thanks!
My brother always said you were cool
I was like, idk 🤷♂️ but my brother, since 2003 20 years ago, said, "Nah, his content is good.
And he was right.
Yassss!
Why you keep disappearing man? We enjoy your content.
Added more kids to the family. I'm a busy dad
@@irategamer Ah ok. Congrats Chris!
WTH Happen to u, my son loves ur toy content btw
Alright this is just what I needed I love The Irate Gamer I have already watched all episodes individually but I cannot wait to watch them with commentary
I always liked the IG it was awesome to go between him and avgn
You and Avgn where my childhood favorites, it’s nice to see you back Chris.
@Will Wolfhard agree
Same! As a matter of fact, I discovered Irate Gamer before AVGN and even then, I didn't care about who copied who - I just cared more about "Wow! I'm learning more about these older games that I've never even seen/played before!" and they both inspired me to look more into retro gaming as an entirety. At the end of the day, I just enjoyed BOTH AVGN and Irate Gamer for what they were when I was around 8-10 years old.
Me too
The main part I loved about the early Irate Gamer videos was that he brought the games to life or he popped himself into the videogames that he was reviewing. I thought that was really cool. I loved that aspect about the videos.
Welcome back, Chris. A long-awaited return with History of Video Games. I learn a lot about the industry's history thanks to this series. I can't thank you enough.
Great season, Chris. Loving the show since the 1st or 2nd season.
Happy 15th Anniversary, Irate Gamer!!
Gotta stop spreading the rumors of your demise now....
lol
Great to see this remastered! I love you, Chris! You introduced me to the history of video games.
I’m seriously back in 2010 right now, I remember waiting for the next one to be released. You know what time it is??? 🔥NOSTALGIA OVERLOAD!!!🔥🤘🤘
It's so cool that your back
Oh snap!!! How I have missed The Irate Gamer! Was worried I might not see any content from you again. Stoked about this remaster! Missed you, dude!
I love watching these. Irate Gamer and AVGN were the early days of nostalgic gaming reviews. I was a fan of both. This is great!
glad to see signs of life on your channel, chris, keep up the great work! :D
Thanks! Will do!
@@irategamer Great Job can I do a collaboration with you?
@@irategamer im also looking forward to the next episodes of HOVG if you ever plan on brigning them back ^^
I would also love to see more HOVG really enjoyed it
Incredible job Chris 👏 🙌 👌
Excellent video !!! Great channel !!!! Glad you made a visual representation of this history of video games !!
HELL YEAH good to see you back Chris
Damn Chris you’ve been missed. It’s always great seeing you back! Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for this Chris! Can’t wait for the entire remastered collection of Irate Gamer!
You are too funny. !!! Your videos are always entertaining !!!
Wow! Was litteraly just wondering if you were gonna come back. Glad to see the full season 4 up in HD! :) BTW, Hows the ghost hunting stuff going? I haven't seen much activity from that as of recently.
Did not expect this to be educational. Excellent video. Fascinating learning about where video games come from. However, I wish this was finished cause I was actually quite invested in this
The commentary about Jobs engineering Breakout is false. Steve Wozniak was the greatest contributor, and Jobs ripped him off/took most of the credit. I understand this is a reposted video, but still think it is worth correcting, even if just in the comments.
This was a cool thing to see in my notification feed, i've always loved your content chris, and i'm glad that even after all these years you're still going with the same passion you started with :) thanks for all the years of entertainment man
I just have one thing to say to commemorate this video: What a bunch of cowabunga taco turds with a side of chips!!
This history of video games series was really well done Chris. Hope to see a follow up sometime in the future. Cheers!
where the hell have you been, bro? 😃
busy busy
@@irategamer I love all your work except for the ghost hunting videos, that wasn't really my thing. I'm glad you have some free time to upload something new. 🤝👍🥳
Bro you reinvented yourself. Please don't stop what you're doing
I'm happy to see you.
Was waiting for the next installment of the remastered series! Can’t wait to watch!
YES!! New Irate Gamer video! You made my night, Chris!! 😁😁😁😁
He’s back
Wow chris u finally post something in a long time
Hey, long time no see! Can't wait for a new one!
Its thanks to this series i've always wanted to try and play games of the older days because of how fascinated i was since i was 9. I hope to see this series return again.
Also DELETED SCENES?! Wow!
Haha, if anything, these videos put me off the games even more. I can appreciate the games of those days, but I can't see myself playing them. I must say I used to have this plug and play machine with heaps of cool arcade games on it, though. The oldest game I'd play is probably Wolfenstein 3D, and even that's pushing it
Terrific to see a new video posted here. Any chance of new episodes in the History of Video Games series? It stopped right on the verge of the Golden Age of Gaming. Would be great to see that era covered, as well. Indeed, it seems to be implied at 1:23:31.
nice work chris keep it up man, your videos are freakin epic!. im not subbing him just because the collab , i subbed to chris because i seen his quality getting better in details i see its still the same chris in really good quality, that is why i subbed. it took me this long to realize it and now when i finally see how irategamer actually become decent its fun to watch again. thank you so much what you done to the gaming community chris you and james still kept the old tradition what we missed back in the day. its a different time guys let bygones be bygones.
Happy Friday the 13th!!! 🔪
You're hilarious my man 😊🤘 love your videos!
@@jamalgordon8883 yeah I do. Been watching him for years now. I know they're similar.
It's only because of Guru Larry Bundy Jr. that I knew about Ralph Bear having a spat with you. I suppose it is hard to be exited about games that developed before you were ever born, still I think most of classic vintage games are interesting to see exploits that are used to make more out of less. Even now Mortal Kombat created Scorpion and Sub Zero by using the same Ninja design and altering the color, There wasn't a way to make DooM have depth so they made sprites bigger and smaller to make it appear that way.
The skits suck, but the game reviews are Fuggen great.
You’re not AVGN... but again, I really enjoy the depth of your video game reviews.
And yes, I realize commenting on this vid will yield nothing.
Cheers 🍻
The Odyssey 2, I remembering seeing one years ago and thinking it looked familiar. In the UK it was licensed by Phillips electronics under the name of Videopac.
I was given my uncles old console in the 1990 broke in 1991 after my brother was electrocuted by a faulty power cable, console broke down.
Got an 2600 the year after.
oh i can only imagine the comments in the Magnavox Odyssey video, chances are they didnt even watch it just commented. "oh wow, ripped off another AVGN video again? i think we know where Shit Pickle was thought up, it was from your head being all up in James' ASSSSSSSS, copying his stuff!" lol
Dude, I love your videos evrytime I'm on my work break or eating some food while learning more about video games history while laughing at your unique humor. I hope you make more of these videos some time soon and I wish you the best. Love, adventurefan2020
Well there are a couple deleted scenes thrown back in this compilation. Enjoy
Here’s a fact that pry no one knew. The light gun for the odyssey was made by Nintendo.
I think you did well with this season doing the editing effects etc etc.
Especially fir the time.
Welcome back!!!
Will you make more irate gamer episodes
these were great at the time, I enjoyed this but was when I was hoping you would be able to keep Irate gamer going. I think if it was mixed with normal reviews would have blasted u into a sub count way above others. I love youre back in it and doing well, like seeing the sub count climb. Also would be cool to see all these uploaded to Rumble, no one has cornered that market yet.
Just love the arcade cabinets in the backround. Turtles would definitely be a favorite of mine. But one i wish i got to play was the x men arcade. Missed out on that one. x. x
It would be so hilarious to go back in time and show off a game system from today such as the Switch, Xbox One, or PS5.
What happened to your original “History of Video Games” videos? I remember seeing the first one back in 2009.
You can count on me watching it whole once I get home from work (night shift ftw) instead of, oh i don't know - going to bed like any other reasonable 40yo would :D
Lol
32:50, XD We're thinking the same thing.
1:13:12, I remember this song in the Home Improvement review. I love it.
1:13:57, XD Love the screams.
finally we found out what book the History of Video Games was based on.
Most important Irate Gamer mystery solved
hi you back thx god. love you chris and your team. hope we get more almost game soon. not thus here but real life too, lol. hearts to all youtuber out there.
Will you be releasing the remastered complication with commentary version of each season on Blue Ray anytime soon?
Damn, I thought just 3 remastered seasons are enough, and onwards are good on their own. Cheers to you.
Best birthday gift one can ask for. Sweet! Thank you!!!
Niiiiiiiiiice, HE LIVES ON! As a fan of The Nerd,.. I gotta have love & respect for the Irate Gamer
Hey Chris whatever happen to the original history of video games videos? I remember watching them back then and can’t find them anymore.
Deleted
@@irategamer Oh… I’m guessing cause they didn’t have the proper information about the history of video games?
No, the scripts were exactly the same. I wanted the hd versions out there over the standard ones.
@@irategamer oh okay, I understand.
@@irategamer Also thank you very much for replying.
I'll stick with the controversial "tit" version of gotcha from Atari
It’s fun to rewatch these old UA-cam videos that don’t have 1 million views
If you havent yet, You an AVGN should do a cameo. Would be great to see.
I remember when you used to get so much shade🤦♂️love the comeback 💯
Some straight up nostalgia right here.
Its insane how cheap ataris are now.theyre like 20 bucks
"Holy fireballs of shit!" I missed that line so much.
YES! Finally a full series of history of video games
That and you’re also hosting the puppet Steve show as puppet Steve
Another great remaster and flow is a lot better, unlike original order, where it felt disjointed and all over the place.
It's easy to binge and good to watch.
Thank you Chris and hoping you're doing ok. And hoping for another IG video in the future :)
Many thanks. And I agree. I had to do a bunch of filler in between episodes so it broke the flow
I’ve never seen this channel before… I know there are similarities to AVGN, yet this is more watchable, in my opinion. The humour doesn’t distract from the content, in the way Nerd’s sometimes does. Just my opinion.
Thankyou, I appreciate that. Hope you enjoy
Awesome, i was thinking about you a couple days ago
a bowling alley isn't a family hangout Chris?
Tennis for Two was the first video game released in 1958.
Good to see you again,I remember when I first discovered you back in 2010 this was the current series and the one I remembered most
The history of video games series really helped me when I started getting into gaming history,I even used the videos for inspiration in a speech I made about gaming in school,so thanks for helping in that.
Great to hear
@@irategamer I heard that an instructor in college actually showed your Odyssey video to his class, that's pretty cool.
Glad to see you're still going.
Chris, you should do off-topic video about how you stuck to your vision and kept grinding in the face of trolling, criticism, etc. You're a real success story as far as I'm concerned. Would be cool to hear more about what drives you and what kept you from quitting or catering to haters.
Much love brutha!
It has been a while. Glad you are back...
I spent years thinking IG was a lame clone.. only to later realize he is one of the most authentic creators on the platform. 👍🏻
While some similarities are there, I feel Irate managed to stand out in most ways. I never bought the copy claims, not once.
Id love to have that Death Race cabinet, love the Grim Reaper racers - it just screams classic 70s art. Something about those old arcade cabs look almost more complex than their 80s counterparts. Maybe its all the special controls and do-dads like the scope. The early Pong and Computer Space machines Atari made with their sleek, molded bodies with metallic paint really stand out.
You can never go wrong with some Irate Gamer
Welcome back and happy 15 years.
Finally, after months.... 🥳🥳
That Coleco Combat console was pretty cool. We had one way back in the day, ended upselling it at a garage sale in the 90s. Id like to pick up again. I dont think its super expensive, just havent seen one in the wild, and I could see that somewhat early plastic chipping or breaking easily in shipping.
Thanks for being part of my early UA-cam days
No problem
I remember back in when I was still in school and I was watching your history of video games more specifically the magnavox odyssey the episode was so enjoyable. But the best part was later that year in summer school my teacher who was a huge nerd help a pop quiz and one of the questions was what was the first home video game console. Every one in class thought it was the atari or nes I was the only one who knew it was the odyssey and I got extra credit for that. So thanks Chris for helping teach people something and making fun videos.
Yesss! Thank you so much Chris! Also I have one request, please do Earthworm Jim comparisons on multiple consoles, like SNES or Game boy. Either way, thanks man
Atari archives is great for chronological atari
I got to say this video looks awesome
Hey Chris! Thanks for bringing this series back for us to enjoy. This was the way I learned about a lot of classic video games, and it was fun to go back to. Looking forward to seeing more from you this year, both new and old when you have time!!!
By the way, I still find all of these to not only be very informative, but also super funny!!!
Honestly feels like a documentary and I personally can't imagine how long it took to make back in 2010 or so. Great work pays off huh?!
I was just playing Contra a little while ago, and the first thing that came to my mind was your review. "Wake the President!" And here you are with a new upload. Cool! 👍
Your still alive?
barely... ha
@@irategamer lol I'm just playing
Man it has been so long since I’ve heard of this name, I forgot I’ve been subscribed to ya! Glad I still am. The History of Video Games sub-series has been one of my absolute favorites in this channel and it’s great to see all this compiled up in one whole video.
I really do hope that it does get removed because there’s so much that could be talked about nowadays with the consoles that have came out and whatnot.
Man I miss this series, I got the DVD and everything(too bad those deleted scenes didn't play properly).
the good times of youtube. rate 1/5 stars, seeing your honours, which country you are most popular in. i loved those stats.
