I finally went tubeless this year, I tried it 3 years ago and got a big hole in my tire first ride out. It was so big using the plug didn't work, so I came home and put my tubes back in. This year it has been a pleasant experience using tubeless tires. Thanks for the lesson on how to install them, I am glad it didn't go smoothly for you., it looked more like what I experience...lol

Haha yeah this is more the normal experience of setting them up. Glad it’s working well for you!

Hey Kevin, I was watching another video on setting up tubeless and one thing this person did was to set the tire BEFORE putting the sealant in thru the stem. I thought that sounded like and good idea and thought I would pass it along. I am so close to ditching my tubes on my Trek domane.... one more flat...LOL

Yeah that’s what I did with the last tire. You get it set then add sealant if you’re having a hard time setting it

Well done tutorial for tubeless, appreciate showing the real issues as well. 😄 I noticed that your tan wall tires had dried up sealant in the inside middle of them, I had the same with tan wall tires too.
But last summer I rode with fully black tires and they didn't end up having any dried up sealant in them, but I got two bigger punctures which needed to be plugged.
Which sounds like an odd coincidence, as the model and the maker of the tires are the same. It makes me wonder if the dried up sealant layer adds more protection.

For refresh I always use the valve stem method to avoid any possible bead issues. And I've had a set of Panaracer Gravel King slicks that did not want to seat, ended up using a cargo strap around the circumference of the tire to help push the walls out. That and an air chuck that has more flow than what you used. I actually have an older tire inflator that I cut the end of the hose off and that slips right over the outside of the valve stem, so with core removed its all the air right away.
There is something satisfying about seeing someone else also make a mess and struggle, helps us know we aren't alone haha fun video.

Great tutorial vid! I went completely tubeless on all 4 of my bikes a few years ago and haven't looked back. I do carry a spare tube in my kit for the one-off situations where I just can't seem to plug/patch a puncture. But, I've only had to do that once. I love having tubeless setups!

Great tutorial Kevin and very timely. I just bought a Trek Roscoe MTN bike and it came tubeless. I was pretty nervous about it, but when I got my second flat on my road bike yesterday, I sort of wish those were tubeless. Perhaps one day soon 😊

Tubes will save some weight if that is a concern. Then next video ought to be how to patch a tubeless tire when on the trail.

Tubeless setups can definitely weigh less than tubes, it all depends on what you're comparing but yes, there will be a video showing how to patch a tubeless tire

I haven't jumped on that train just yet, but I said if my new Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tours flat at all this year, I'm going tubeless. I don't want to go tubeless honestly, I'm lazy, and have been lucky by not flatting all that much. Last year I had 2 or 3 nails go in to my Schwalbe Energizer Plus tires and never made it to the tube. This year wasn't as lucky. Also, I just learned something!!! If you press & hold the space bar during video playback, it speeds up the playback. I was accidentally pressing it and you were talking like a chipmunk and I thought you edited that in, but it didn't stop & I was like, YO KEV! Chill! When I did that you did, and I was like damn I have Jedi powers. I rewound back a few seconds to see what I missed and it wasn't happening.

That's the same with anything, just like tubes, they work great until they don't, in an area with a lot of goat heads with tubes there's more don't.
