This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel 7 months ago about self development. Now I have 729 subs and > 200 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

You always provide such practical, actionable advice, Gillian! It took me a year to hit 1,000 subscribers, and now I'm consistently gaining around 130 subs per month. I would love to gain faster, but I'm focusing on being consistent and setting my goals around things I CAN control (like my consistency) rather than subscriber goals that I can't necessarily control. It helps me feel motivated to keep going because as long as I'm posting in accordance to the goals I set, I'm going to grow by default.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into creating these videos! You're such an inspiration!

You put this into perspective beautifully @wildmother. “…focusing on being consistent and setting my goals around things l CAN control…” I vow to do this as well.
Since rededicating myself to UA-cam l’ve consistently published 77 videos over the last 19months and l still haven’t hit my first 1,000 subscribers.
But thankfully with consistency growth happens by default.
      Wishing you much continued success!

Gillion I've been watching your videos for a while. I don't know how long but I know it's been way over a year. I've been thinking about starting a UA-cam channel for about as long as I have been watching your videos. I have been afraid to do this because of lack of knowledge and I am not a tech savvy person. I'm currently a truck driver. I'm ready to get started. Also want to let you know that I appreciate your professional approach and it is refreshing to see you doing videos decently and with dignity. You seem to be a credit to your gender

You can, but it isn’t necessary. I initially established my UA-cam account with a separate business email. Today l no longer operate that business, but since the bulk of my UA-cam library lives under that account when l rededicated myself to UA-cam l chose to build from the same account and have all emails forwarded to my now business Google accounts.

Laura if you go to Gillian’s home page of her channel and hit the 🔎icon you type in your query to see if she’s produced a video on whichever desired topic you’re interested in.
For beginners with Apple MacBooks, iMovie is user friendly. Adobe Pro is another good option. Or my favorite (if you have the cashflow) outsource your editing by hiring a part-time VA or video production company for roughly $100/video.

Really great advice. It is definitely a lot of work, but it can be very rewarding. I know that I am still learning a lot with my travel channel every day. I think the hardest part is figuring out the algorithm, which I think it takes some time as you try different types of videos.

Thank you for always great content Gillian. I have a question that I just can't figure out. I have a channel that has been just under 10k subs for over a year and a half, and since that happened I really lost some steam because I kind of wondered why I was doing it when I wasn't growing and hardly anyone was seeing my videos. Also what I love about youtube is connecting and teaching but I don't love technical stuff, film making, photography, editing, and social media which I haven't been doing for over a year and a half. Ok, so I don't know what happened initially to change everything, but I do know what I would need to change and do differently to have a successful channel. My question for you or anyone who has an answer is how is it different if I do those things on my current channel vs. starting from scratch? In your story I heard you say you started a second channel and succeeded, but why didn't you just change your strategy on your first channel? My preference would be to clean up my existing channel and start doing everything right but I need to know if that is a waste of time and I need to start a whole new channel if I want to give youtube another go? Please help, I'd love to get your advice. and invite anyone in the comments to send what you know about this as well. Thanks for listening, and best of luck to all! 💕

I saw another popular you tube video the other day regarding this very topic and they mentioned that when you first start out, you should post 3 videos on your first day (not together obviously but hours apart) as this got the algorithm working quickly. Then start posting one a week as you mentioned. Do you agree with this advice? Thanks for the content!

When l rededicated myself to UA-cam 8/2020. l came back to it publishing videos about online business and was also on the fence about starting from scratch or building from where l left off. Per the advice of UA-cam experts, @gillian included they encouraged me to stick with the same channel. My channel growth has been slow. Leaving me at times wondering if l made the right choice. However, some of my most engaged subscribers today and people who initially subscribed when l first launched the channel years ago talking about life coaching, fitness and motherhood.

Informative as ever. I'd love to see a deeper look into the actual business end of UA-cam. For example Joe Bloggs UA-cam channel is called Bloggs Blog but does he have to go off and set up Bloggs Blog plc or whatever? How do you switch to having built a channel to earning money and dealing with taxes? You don't do that from the get-go? So something explaining that would be great.

    • @MollyAnnLuna
      @MollyAnnLuna 2 роки тому

Great question BF Blethering! Your UA-cam Channel name and account name can be different from your business name. If you’re selling products or services then it’s a good idea to set up an LLC. Depending on your state you’re looking at spending $500-$800 to set your LLC up. Typically l recommend waiting until your business is generating revenue before establishing an LLC. I recently published a videos on how to set up your LLC and pay yourself as an LLC business owner l’d be happy to share with you if you’re interested.

@@MollyAnnLuna Thanks, I'll look into that. I'm in the UK and realise there are differences but the general idea will be the same. When I know more I can go off and research. I'll check out that video.

Are your ideal viewers bilingual? Or interested in being bilingual. If so then it shouldn’t be a problem. My friend, fitness pro @MassyAries publishes her content in both English and Spanish and she’s built a following of over 2.7M

@@MollyAnnLuna I feel like I would be able to get millions of view on tik tok rather than UA-cam but I can try to post it on both platforms what do you think?

    • @MollyAnnLuna

@@mayrazuniga8421 l depends on your endgame. What action are you wanting your viewers to take next? Or what are you hoping to gain from sharing this? The UA-cam platform is more like library and the video would have a longer shelf life. Where as TikTok you might get a faster response from your viewers, but it’s also a much shorter shelf life. What are your thoughts?

I say just use what you have available for now until you get to your first 1,000 subscribers. I have recorded all of my UA-cam videos from my phone with a cheap $20 lapel mic.

I really don't know what type of UA-cam channel to start but my expertise and specialty is in Irrigation and Sprinkler Systems.
I don't see any real good quality sprinkler channels.
I have made many videos and posted them on my FB page and the community pages in the areas I've worked.
My videos have all been done with my Samsung S8 Plus phone.
I get alot of great reviews and comments and I think i could do a very successful UA-cam Channel
