@Dave Micolichek Dave, I can remember the day they delivered it to our house. I was 12 and a couple friends were there. We callled dibs for first ride in the 3rd seat. Back in the day seat belts were dust collectors. First look under the hood was like wow, full compartment of all power!. White gas back then too, much better than todays dinosaur piss. My mom loved the wagon carting us all over. Was same color green as 70's show. Your right about kids being surprised at the challenge, leaving them in the dust was easy. What you'd call a sleeper today, no looks but fuckin cooks.Brake stands were good too fog the scene but hard on her. Beers always helped with show!! Loaded up with 8 teenagers out hauling cost me more than a couple exhaust repairs. A lot of fun back then. My next car was an Olds Cutlass 350 4 barrel, black with tan interior, I didn't hammer that one. Wish I had that 455 still, what a power plant to build on. Shove it into my wifes 87 trans am. She be happy!!
Hey man, I've got a brilliant idea, they have firefighters ready prepared on scene there to deal with the fires as soon as they start! I just find it hard to believe that it has not been thought of before? Thanks is not necessary I am just so glad to be of assistance.
Depends on the motor. A engine is just a few thousand dollars. But when you start honing, adding billet pistons, billet crank, recast heads, bigger turbo, super charger, that is when it gets expensive. The book on new engines like a Sonny's Racing Engine can be $80,000 and modified tractor engines can easily be $125,000 a piece. And with diesel engines a good 1600 HP engine can run $20/30,000 and Pro Stock engines can be in the $120,000 range making 3000+ HP.

If you've ever held one of those blower belts it would amaze you how so many of them get broken and thrown off. They're so thick and stiff you can hardly bend them with your hands.
Last two pulls the track was not prepped properly. Tractors bouncing from poor track conditions causing undo stress on motors n tossing oil up n causing engine failure at high rpms. Port track prep.
Poor ol terry blackbourn his engine broke that cost more than most tractors that were there lol💪 they still build the Baddest tractors on the block tho👊👊
Can anyone explain to me whats venting from midway down the chassis on some of the tractors? Is it like a pcv thing? I would guess it an excess pressure release of some sort.
Blow-Off Valve or Wastegate exhaust. This is to let out any excess so the tractor holds together. Once you get into big turbos, the wastegate needs to allow the excess exhaust pressure to divert around the turbine wheel. The blow-off valve's job is to prevent the pressure in the intake from backing up and causing compressor surge when engine speed changes abruptly-like when a puller decreases/increases RPM usually in case of recovering speed or coming off a wheel touch.
@@WWPTV thanks for reply. But most of the time it looks like floppy hoses the "steam" of sorts is venting from. Not small diameter exhaust tubing. I understand how bov's work. But they wouldnt be open the entire time the truck is pulling. Hence why i thought it might be a crank case vent or something. Ive gone to a ton of truck pulls and always been curious about this
@@coryhaynes8755 - Yeah you are right It's called a Blow-By Tube!!! On Trucks and Alcohol Engines, they use a Blow-by to take the Extra Pressure out of the Crankcase!!!
All these comments about the officials not having fire extinguishers. If I put that much time, money, and effort into building a tractor, you'd better believe I'd have my own extinguisher on board!
And they are required to have one. So, that is usually the first one to be used. However the have a company that refills the tanks for them. Some of these are just freak fires. One of them the oil line ballooned up and exploded. The other big one was a fuel line break and spilling excess fuel on a smoking hot header. You cannot predict, but if you keep a cool head, they will get exhausted.
Every tractor pull except for the antique only pulls are required to have fire Trucks incase a really bad accident. It’s rare that they actually need to go on the track, but they do if there’s a bad accident such as a driver getting caught on fire or knocked out or he has a medical emergency like a heart attack.
Internet fame, bragging rights, my horse is stronger than yours. It has been that way since horse and mule pulls. The money is not there. You have $80,000 machines all the way up to half-million dollar machines for a purse of $400 to $1000 in some cases. With points and season winners taking home a few thousand. It really is about bragging, hanging out, and having fun.

The track needs to invest in a pumper fire engine and have some hose lines ready with self expanding foam to knock the. Would be alot better than trying to get the flames out with fire extinguishers and hoping you all have enough to get the fires out. Even a gas powered pump connected to a huge tank of SEF will a two inch hose and high pressure firefighting type nozzle would be a pretty good setup for battling large fuel and or oil fed flames. interesting and entertaining..but the only note i want to add.. how come the officials are cheap in the fire
extinguishers??
Its amazing how some of these tractors are more than 50% engine by weight
No kidding, I'm curious to see how it's all linked up
These machines were Pulling like a 13 year old until they dropped their load, lol. Good to watch/see.
John, Australia.
Damn. That first truck was still running after it threw a rod.
That's what you call having puppies.
@Dave Micolichek I had vista cruiser wagon identical to that 70's show.
455 4bbl duel exhaust. Load up after school for twist and sip joyrides. Usually leaving both muffs and tails behind on a rough back road.
Made a nice plank tank at the parties too, lol
@Dave Micolichek wow
@Dave MicolichekLOL, was she smoking like a small factory??
Hey man, I've got a brilliant idea, they have firefighters ready prepared on scene there to deal with the fires as soon as they start!
I just find it hard to believe that it has not been thought of before? Thanks is not necessary I am just so glad to be of assistance.
what kind of engine at 9:47?
18 Cylinder Wright R-3350 Radial Engine. The puller name was wrong on the video. It is Len Burkhart and his tractor is called Radial Reactor.
@@joeylawn36111 but not quite at those rpm's
I am blown away at how slow people are at putting fires out
idk why but i see the hot rod pulling things with v8s and wonder how that can pull like a tractor and why not use a modded up semi
Nah, steam traction engines. No diesel can match the torque and reliability of a steamer
1:49. The engine is on fire? Sure let me just remove the only thing that can protect my head from burning
seems a re occurring thing at so many pulls no fire fighting equipment on site .
Gives me a lot of podracer vibes. Wonder if Lucas saw one of these shows with a lot of failures before making that sequence?
6:40 has to be the worst fire team I’ve ever seen... one guy just standing there like yeah that’s fire. No one else comes to help 🤷♂️
Anybody ever hear of a BCD 20lb fire extinguisher
One good squeeze of the trigger and the fires out
No kidding. I guess they would just rather stand around and watch things burn up.
Seriously. All them event staff should have a FE ready to go.
Sorry, I don’t know my fire extinguishers.
This is cool as hell wonder how much the repairs are when they blow a motor
Depends on the motor. A engine is just a few thousand dollars. But when you start honing, adding billet pistons, billet crank, recast heads, bigger turbo, super charger, that is when it gets expensive. The book on new engines like a Sonny's Racing Engine can be $80,000 and modified tractor engines can easily be $125,000 a piece. And with diesel engines a good 1600 HP engine can run $20/30,000 and Pro Stock engines can be in the $120,000 range making 3000+ HP.
Thank you for informing me
6:42 the dude is like: oh all chill just a little fire on my truck all cool.
How do they not have on board fire suppression.
When those diesel tractors blow the blow up hard I've seen them blow the hood strait off they definitely go out with a bang OUCH!!!!!
watever this is looks dope what are they pulling
and do some of them have 4 engines????
@@frankleszczynski9902 yes
How many people does it take to blow out hey engine on fire?
2:00... don’t anyone rush to get the fire extinguisher. It’s supposed to be in flames.
These are all very expensive failures, but that is a risk being taken for the sport...🤷♂️
Anyone ever gets the chance to talk to Aaron (the guy at @5:10) listen to everything he says about truck pulling. Guys in a wheelchair and builds these trucks, has a pile of knowledge from well over 20 years of pulling
Absolutely, Aarons a Rolling encyclopedia of Truck Pulling Knowledge, Great guy he is,
@@MrChevyfan87 you been around east coast pulling very long? My dad and granddad use to have a truck back in 01-02 that they won the points series with, also my uncle has a truck he pulls now
No, just about 6 or 7 Years, what truck did your dad & granddad have? uncle too?
@@MrChevyfan87 my dad had a blueish purple Chevrolet with a dragon pulling a sled named Sleddraggin and my uncle has a black Chevrolet with a rebel flag/bow tie on the front named Loaded Guns (hasn't pulled in about 2 years) were in the Va area
Ok, about 88 through early 90's body I remember it, Pulled Pro Street class maybe? Were From Va also
If you've ever held one of those blower belts it would amaze you how so many of them get broken and thrown off. They're so thick and stiff you can hardly bend them with your hands.
Nothing Catastrophic about this it's just good old Boom's & fires. You need more big fires & let them burn.
Dave Robinson agreed. Clickbait title.
LOVE THOSE OLD CIRCLE BECONS!
Ahhh tractor pulls! Most fun you can have standing up.
How is it a good idea to put a multi engine, huge horsepower, very heavy pulling tractor on golf cart tires in the front?
Do they contribute any torque? How much time do the front tires spend on the ground during a pull.
They aren’t 4wd what would be the point
Last two pulls the track was not prepped properly. Tractors bouncing from poor track conditions causing undo stress on motors n tossing oil up n causing engine failure at high rpms. Port track prep.
to me seems a bit like the multiple engine ones always fry themselves in one pull, and always some maintanance is needed
Poor ol terry blackbourn his engine broke that cost more than most tractors that were there lol💪 they still build the Baddest tractors on the block tho👊👊
8:15 5 Engines?????
How to they connect like 5 motors to one drivetrane
Just think it cost over a million in parts to make this video.
Whats that case tractor at 4:14?, the one pulling
Coin Binder? I will look into this and reply back.
Thx
what class are the tractors with 4 motors attached to them?
Modified Tractors. They are Light Modified at 7500 Pounds. And unlimited run at 8000LBs.
Man that was sad to see that 40 series Deere with the aluminum hood, blow up before he even got out the hole😖🙁
10:11 what kinda engin is that airboat ?
Im rather impressed that there are any parts out there that can stand up to 300lb of boost.
Dang yall need a fire department there at track side 😡
Nah, they're all set
Every tractor pull except for the antique only pulls are required to have fire Trucks incase a really bad accident. It’s rare that they actually need to go on the track, but they do if there’s a bad accident such as a driver getting caught on fire or knocked out or he has a medical emergency like a heart attack.
There are fire trucks to the ones i go to
Some of these actually made my eyes widen.
So I’ve always wondered what’s the end goal of tractor pulls?
Internet fame, bragging rights, my horse is stronger than yours. It has been that way since horse and mule pulls. The money is not there. You have $80,000 machines all the way up to half-million dollar machines for a purse of $400 to $1000 in some cases. With points and season winners taking home a few thousand. It really is about bragging, hanging out, and having fun.
It is who can pull the farthest and just have a good time
4:17 what was that?
Its a modified tractor that lost an engine or two.
Nuttin major!!
@@bladerunner6354 LOL! Its fixed two times over. Gitty Up will be in this years 2019 as well. Coming soon...

Be safe ya'll.
I love this sport BUT can never understand why all the event staff along the track do not have fire extinguishers, it just seems common sense with all the high octane fuels and oil.
Apparently common sense does not enter into this equation. I've seen videos where they were pouring water on a fuel/oil fire. At the very least, there should be some fairly large CO2 or dry powder extinguishers on hand.
It’s America.... you expect common sense?
And there I was thinking all it took to avoid doing much was to be called boss when a t shirt with 'event staff' is just as good.
I don't understand why the event staff doesn't have large foam fire extinguishers on hand.
