Thank you so much for this! As a retired special teacher who worked through a time before standardized testing also known as no child left behind, this was a major reason I retired early, at the schools I worked in we were encouraged to use this type of teaching, that time is long gone, but it is so effective!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️

I’m giving MY children freedom by being a non-conformist myself, I’m homeschooling them.

that's a really bad choice from my perspective, im a high schooler myself and im glad i went to elementary and middle school, it made me grow by making friends, it helped me understand what an assignment is, what responsabilities are and the punishment if ignored. think twice before taking to your children the chance of making friends and learn life lessons, or at least wait when they are capable enough of choose by themselves like 15-16 years old

@@federicoperissinotto484, my children have plenty of friends, homeschooled and public schooled. They also understand what assignments, responsibilities, and punishments are because I’ve been teaching them those things since they were born.

I have met several homeschooled children and people. I get that they may be social with friends, but they have still suffered by not being at some form of common educational forum or interaction. All homeschooling plans are different so I am not judging yours, just remarking my opinion. They have (not all) told me of their wish they could have at least gone 1-2 days to a school or other meeting with other adults young and old as well as other kids. I have seen social clubs like Scouting, junior sports leagues, martial arts, and Boys and Girls Clubs fill that role. As long as homeschooling is part of a broad social and competitive opportunity availability, then sure it can work. If it fits your skillset, beliefs, child-rearing philosophy, then go ahead. But it is not non-conformism to do so. WHAT is taught, HOW it is taught, and WHY is it taught can be non-conformism. A single public school can be many things to many kids and parents, so let's all be respectful and able to contribute positively to society.

Sure, let’s pretend public schools aren’t indoctrination camps. Student loan debt and a 10 year loan on an electric car is what every kid should be striving for.

An amazing argument against traditional teaching methods. Students deserve to be given the tools to succeed, and I’m happy you’re moving to work to give ALL students that power.

An amazingly creative approach! Critical thinking, team building, communication skills - all these are essential. What about the building blocks - beginning with the 3 R's and the STEM knowledge needed to take on projects such as the one presented? Or is that a given?

Hi Jayanto. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Working on compulsories is a given. The key is to balance lecture (sit and get) with application. It does take professional development and practice for teachers to master this, but it's well worth it.

Conventional learning suggests students are NEVER-Good enough to have much value.
Conventional learning suggests endless INFERIORITY in students. thanks H

When I was in school, person of color was NOT important. There was no middle school like now days. When I was in grade school in the 60's, I had teachers that did want to help me. Cause I was a slow learner. When I got in High School, the same thing. But now, thinking back. I realize there was teachers did not want to take the time with me. That is when I gave up. And I did not try anymore. WOW, do I regret it now.

The effort is a bit better, but really there's just a lot of talking, visions, slogans, etc. That's why I do what I do with my amazing team. We're small, but mighty and we're doing our part to make sure students of color thrive in school.

If I had a children I would be able to teach them how to do it themselves and then maybe they'll be able to read the Holy Bible and then maybe pray that they are being saved by the Lord thy God and his Son Jesus Christ and then maybe the teachers can just go and then maybe the other day and then we the people that are about this one message from your International Ted x documentary about the students who are going some where to a different place and time.
