    Shout out to all the post-911 kids like me who will never be able to forget a single lyric of “proud to be an American” because the entirety of 2002/3 was being forced into performing it through school.

      Oaf that's rough. As an elder Millennial who watched 9/11 in my college dorm room commons; I/we rolled our eyes at the obvious patriotic propaganda that we all knew would lead to nationalism and most likely fascism.
      None of us were surprised when the Patriot Act rolled out, and (if you were a "minority") watched The Wire and noted all the ways our rights would be violated IRL.
      I considered myself "the young people", and forgot that there wasn't even younger generation being brainwashed in school.
      Man my generation's Murica war was Gulf Storm, and we got trading cards of weapons systems. I couldn't imagine being forced to sing some patriotic song. We barely sang that War of 1812 song we all call the national anthem.

      wow I did not realize this was a shared experience lol
      me and 3 other blue eyed blonde girls performing it as the finale for our elementary school talent show is the closest I ever got to being a hitler youth... too close for comfort, frankly

      @@ambylam That's a scary accurate description. I remember sitting around campus discussing the events and thinking well we're (the US) going to lose our minds shortly.
      I also remember thinking how will New York square Islamaphobia with the Muslim run taxi/limo hole. We laughed at the idea of all the execs and big wigs using public transportation.

    "When I'm on stage, there's no part of me that gives a shit about making people's day better"
    Russell is literally the worst at marketing himself as an entertainer and that's exactly why he's my favorite part of the podcast

    Lol I love Brittany in this podcast. The thing about "you're good" is that it's VERY common in the south, and it's not used to mean , specifically, are good, but it's more like "you don't need to apologize, it's not an issue." I really enjoyed her on here. Russell is definitely the backbone. When he's missing, it's not the same. Not diminishing Gianmarco any any way (you're absolutely great). Russell just feels like the soul :D

    • @weesh4645
      @weesh4645 4 місяці тому

      People say this and don’t mean it all the time tho. So I think it often means “I’m done with this interaction” not “that doesn’t bother me” ya know?
      Which is fine btw, it’s their prerogative to be done with the interaction but I don’t like the phrase personally. (But sometimes I think people really do mean “it’s fine”) Hope that made sense lol

    • @Djinnerator
      @Djinnerator 4 місяці тому +1

      @@weesh4645 That's removing all of the context of the situation. No one says "you're good" and not mean it, to actually mean "I'm done with this interaction" when someone doesn't hold the door for them and apologize. She specifically used as an example when she's unaware someone was coming through the doorway and she apologized for not holding the door and they say "you're good." It never means "I'm done with this interaction" nor do they not mean it because it's overall not a serious thing to be bothered about, hence, "you're good." Then to say "all good" is fine when it means the same thing based on the situation isn't being consistent, although she said it's more a semantic thing, and not necessarily the idea or intent behind it, so she's not even talking about people not meaning it or using it while thinking "I'm done with this interaction" or similar.

    Sorry to break it to you, but fish are much more intelligent and capable of suffering than we tend to think. Fish get killed by suffocation, which takes a while and is pretty gruesome. We just assume that the way the world works can't be as horrible as it turns out when you question it, look at reality and get disillusioned from the advertisement facade.
    Again, sorry for the bad news.

    • @twistysunshine

      I had a pet fish that lived for 6 1/2 years (avg lifespan for his species is 5) and I second this. He got a tumor or something when he was older and it was creating pressure on his organs, so I had to hand feed him peas every day, bc the pressure made anything with less fiber fuck up his swimming, and he would get stuck places. As soon as I was hand feeding him peas he got much more comfortable with me and he would follow me in his tank as I did chores in the kitchen. He would also play with ping pong balls that we put in the water, push em around just for fun.
      It was really rough when he died. He had some kind of something that looked like choking, it was a very violent death with a lot of thrashing. I ended up holding him with a net so he wouldn't scrape himself on the tank decor as he thrashed.
      I've had other fish who got injured one way or another and they actively act messed up until they get better. The schooling ones will go off alone from the school and twitch and struggle to eat until their sickness/injury is healed.
      I think the way our society treats them as disposable means people don't try to care for them when they get sick/hurt, so they don't even spend enough time to notice the suffering or the way it reads with a fish's body language.

    • @Buffering4now
      @Buffering4now 4 місяці тому +1

      @@twistysunshinewow your mindful way of looking at the fish explains so much about how humans miss in plain sight… fish tank is pretty cool to look at follow instructions and look at the fish and it's decor... Observation and seeing the structure of the school is cool. Never considered the fish who are caught and drowned for us to eat. 😮 not that it will stop me eating it but certainly giving me a appreciation for it that I didn't take in before
      We humans don't do this very often the more you think… alien life probably not in space it's in the sea.…. 🐙
