I can't even articulate the emotions that this song and all of his music inspires....his music is brilliant, his lyrics are absolute poetry, and his voice is soulful and haunting...David Gray is in a class of his own...

I could not agree more. The depth of his lyrics are something most of us would aspire to reach in any or everything we do. Absolutely beautiful song.

He is simply brilliant - a complete package from his cuteness and interesting lyrics to the soothing sound of his voice. Imagine that piano in your living room, late in the evening with lit candles all around, and he is there just for you to sing whatever, and for as long as you like.

    He is No.1.
Right now, at this moment, there's no one like him on the music scene...

A decade on, and I'd still suggest there's STILL no solo artist better, than this man. ❤

The magnificent melody and poetry combined with his soulful voice is unmatched, unrivaled and is uncanny! The song has a life of its own because it indistinguishable from the emotions that probably created it. Shine is still my favorite to this date and has that same raw feel of wanting and needing to get the most out of life while it lasts. Doing so without greed, hate and anger with an appreciation of life and it wonder. These songs I believe help you to realize the things we take for granted by playing your inner strings like a harp!!!

Probably the most ingenious invention in history of music, the piano.
David Gray, the instance of a brilliant musician with wonderful lyrics and music in modern times. Both together, damn, could it be better? I don´t think so.

Love this guy ,heard one song on the radio one afternoon in country QLD Australia , rang up the radio station to ask who the singer was , blow & behold they told me , couldn't get the album over here though , so my Hubby ordered it from over seas , I had only heard one song on the radio , but when i got the album i loved every song & many nights i just listen to him & i sleep like a baby . but during the day i dance to his songs , best singer ever xxxx

The first David Gray song I heard was 'Babylon'. I had no info about who it was but spent 2 days tracking it down. I now have 'Babylon' as my cell ringtone.

I keep coming back to this video, hauntingly beautiful song and i love how it gets a life of its own whenever he performs it live, the raw emotion in his voice, just perfect.

Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, David Gray, Avett Brothers...there needs to be no more than that.

Putting aside the fact that David Gray is one of the most brilliant songwriters in the last 20 years, let's line up the "top 20" artists today and see how many can pull of the raw note at 2:09. Oh yeah, you can't bring your audio engineer or autotune with you. BOOM!
