My university professor (i'm on a music course) has a beta of Serum 2. He let me see it aslong as I didn't take a picture, I saw it flip from wavetable to granular and almost I fainted! This was earlier today, I'm still buzzing about it.
Prophet? More like GOD, Steve Duda is has like indirect contributions to literally every song made in the past 10-15 years. Like he puts people like Max Martin to shame just down to the immense amount of influence he's brought to the music industry
Pretty surprised that Steve's so chill about Vital. And I also agree that we should probably stop comparing it to Serum and just enjoy both for what they can do.
I've been sailing the seas for years with Serum but decided to finally buy it after listening to this and realizing what an awesome dude Steve Duda is. Imagine world-class software being developed totally outside of the corpo-sphere. This kind of stuff gives me faith in humanity. Sorry I stole it earlier Duda, but something tells me you were playing the long game with me anyway and don't mind.
He didn't leave a name on the interface so people can make tutorials with a cracked version of Serum... What? This is soooo next level... Steve we don't deserve you!
I love that you can hear duda’s disdain for the copy paste aspects of riddim, while still also being stoked serum likely plays a big role in how it expanded so quick and stays producing new songs and artists
Well.. I wasnt going to buy serum… As I just brought phaseplant.. But after this I have no other option at this point. This dude is so on point! This dude is amazing! This attitude is magic!!
all the zomboy/skrillex/deadmau5 backstory from about 20 mins on is really interesting, especially the part where skrillex showed steve duda the my name is skrillex ep lol
This is brilliant... the intersection of business, sound design, programming and anecdotal industry insights is a real treat 👌😎 Quite inspiring for those of us who usually enjoy what we do creatively and economically but have been hammered in 2020 and taking our first break... 🖖
Serum FM with a matrix instead of the OSC could be a cool spin off! Also some kind of Vocoder to input a modulation in Serum FX! A convolution reverb could open a lot of possibilities too, loading impulse responses and also other sounds to experiment, modulating position to get crazy artifacts.
Steve, I have a saying that I think you will like: “Laziness is the mother of invention.” LOVED the interview...and Serum, of course. Can’t wait to see what you come up with in 2021.
Loved this one, thank you! Not sure if it's possible or too much work but adding contents timestamps for the different major subjects you discuss would be really useful especially when the interviews are this long. A couple that come to mind as I'm part way through this one are LA/Networking and VST chat. Just a thought, thanks for the awesome content!
I'll give you words. "Fuck, fuuck, fuck".. imagining Joel saying that over the PA to dark techno in Vegas with a saudi prince frowning in the corner made laugh so hard.
0:35 companies worth billions spend millions on advertising to Bangaldeshian bots. Meanwhile Serum is the go to synth in an industry where software constantly fluctuates, without spending a cent on it.
How did Steve fix the Mix knob in multiband mode of the compressor? It used to phase like crazy, but now it sounds good. Did he add another multiband compressor at 0% mix (on the dry channel) that has the same settings as the active multiband compressor in parallel?
I see managers holding their artists back to make them look less available/more in demand and difficult to get. If an artist is too available for interviews and things then they must not be very popular...?
If you check Xfer's site, Steve is active on there every day answering support questions from users. I've never known such good customer service from software before. I've also watched other videos and his Reddit AMA, he's an absolute legend! (PS Bill, would love to see a video feed on these too!)
Hi fellow music addicts! Could someone help me if i can find the track these podcasts start with? So fucking catchy and always being cut at the drop kind of make me crazy... :D
steve being lazy again... -_- wrappin vsts to audio uinits and so forth now protools users are gonna lag when using serum one millisecond!!! JK JK XDDD

serum sounds pre 2000s
@@ericgonzalez4032 What does that even mean?
Duda is the man. I have immense respect for him!!
He's always really quick to respond on the Xfer forum if you have issues or suggestions. He's a great guy.
Pretty good optics for Steve, this guy is going places!
This is the most game anyone has ever put on the Internet in terms of music production, engineering and plugin development. Thanks Duda & Bill!
I used to work with Steve at Digidesign/Avid. Super brilliant, talented and nice guy

Two absolute legends on back to back podcasts. Extremely impressive.
Congrats dude, n thanks for all the knowledge

The man, the myth, the legend............Duda, Duda!!!!
What a great interview! Cant wait for Serum 2.
he said hes not into serum 2 but keep updating serum
@@MIDNIGHTCVLT In this interview, he says the words "Serum 2" at least 2 times, so I'm not sure if that's true.
@@jasongravely7217 yeah what i mean is that he's not going to make another plugin. He's probably update the actual one
@@jasongravely7217 which timecode? I didn't hear serum 2
I could listen to this man all day long, hes like the David Attenborough of The music world 😂
This is pretty dope, that I manage to get here literally 3 minutes after upload. Love ya Mr. Bill!
Love Steve Duda - always so insightful yet modest

1:25:17 no it's not like that anymore, what you load in the playlist gets a rack and mixer slot tied to it, sure it took a while but they fixed it.
Always so great to hear Steve talk.
As someone who makes plugins and music he is an inspiration.
This was great to listen to, thanks man.
Thanks for this mr. bill 💜
I always love listening to Steve. And you Bill :)
Thanks Bill&Duda for this! :)
This was soo good!!
HAIL DUDA!!!

Steve's really a cool person god bless ❣️🙏 thank you Mr.Bill
Serum's' GUI is a great design and it''s no wonder that other devs are emulating it.

well cool
Was all the talk about Serum 2 alluding to a separate, standalone plugin to be sold separately? Or a free 2.0 update for all existing Serum users?
Steve doesn't come across as someone who'd charge for a version upgrade
@@marcellkovacs5452 truee. i hope so!
