make sure you don't have multiple versions of Java installed. In my case I had Java 8 and a Dev Kit(?), so I deleted the Kit and then it worked fine. Hopefully this helps!

Do you have Java 8 installed?

Make sure they have the same Mods installed on their pc, also make sure it’s the same game version
