The wonderful young and delightful Nanci - This is the Nanci I first heard and have loved ever since - How I miss her and the songs she wrote - Beautifully understated as a performer but at the same time quite powerful - A rare gem - RIP lovely lady
This video is terrific! Nanci Griffith changed the trajectory of my music appreciation. In the early nineties, I was listening to rock, blues, and jazz. A friend of my wife gave me a cassette of “The MCA Years”. I immediately fell in love with Nanci’s music. I could not believe that I had not heard of someone that was so talented. As I discovered more of Nanci’s music, I also discovered all sorts of American acoustic music, which is now considered to be Americana music. Americana music is now the cornerstone of my musical interests. Thank you Nanci.
Thanks for posting! In reverence, here are the songs: 0 - Intro 0:37 - Ford Econoline 3:28 - Last of the True Believers 7:30 - Heartaches By the Dozen (Harlan solo) 11:18 - Never Mind (Nanci with Harlan) 15:21 - I Would Bring You Ireland 18:32 - Deadwood, South Dakota 27:20 - Listen to the Radio 31:34 - Instrumental (Chieftains) 36:40 - Little Love Affairs (Nanci with the Chieftains) 40:55 - From a Distance
A Christmas song that comes out in January? How Irish is that? Here I am, 14th of August and crying my eyes out, darling. Nobody said life was going to be fair. Miss you.
I so appreciate this and the many other posts that you have presented of the wonderful Nanci Griffith. 26 years ago I took my now wife to see Nanci for our first date. It was the Flyer tour and we have seen her perform numerous times since then. That she has a very special place in our hearts is obvious but I was so moved to read the dozens/hundreds of comments expressing their intense sadness at her passing. She touched so many with her musical talent, touching and personal songwriting and mostly with her gracious spirit.
Listening to Nanci’s explanation to each and every song that she performs has so much meaning thus one needs to listen to each song debut, one would understand and appreciate the artist in all its form.
Why are you can use Miss Griffith. I love your music so much and I will take it with me through the ages. And I will meet you with all the other musicians who have died before me. What a great gig that will be!
How we miss you Nanci…there’s no one like you and there never will be ❤

It’s just so interesting and random that Nanci never really got full traction in the US…….but they truly loved her in Ireland.
Love
What a goddess!
