- Introduction et variations sur une ronde populaire (1936)
Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937)
Here is our recording of the French saxophone quartet staple by Gabriel Pierné written for one of the first ever professional saxophone quartets, the Marcel Mule Quartet. Its slow and calm introduction is briefly interrupted twice by the "ronde" theme, which gives way to a fun and lively set of variations on this theme.
Donald Sinta Quartet
Dan Graser, soprano saxophone
Zach Stern, alto saxophone
Joe Girard, tenor saxophone
Danny Hawthorne-Foss, baritone saxophone
Performed May 13, 2018 at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition at the University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center in South Bend, IN.

Fantastic performance and you have refined your skills to a razors edge. However, I honestly don’t care that you can play the technical things that fast, it’s not musical at that tempo
