Now this is the way The Disney Channel should be still! OMG I remember when I was little seeing the commercial for disney night time and knowing that meant it was bedtime for me! LOL
My Dad LOVED this music. We had old Disney channel things like this recorded on video tapes…so this was from my childhood. My Dad always got so excited hearing it😊😊😊😊😊
Hello Pattybug !, As a Fan Inspired By Disney Everyday, I wanted to Thank you SOOO Very Much For Posting this video. I have been looking for The Disney Night Time Feature Presentation Intro FOREVER Now. Although, The Corporate Heads of Disney Broadcasting NO LONGER Care much for Traditional Disney Anymore, At Least I feel a bit Good that True Disney Tradition Still Means something to More People than just me.
Thank you albass626 ! In Disney Channel`s Younger Years, These were the days that You could not get One Side of Disney without the other. The Wonderful World of Disney, or The Magical World of Disney used to cross over To The Disney Channel for those Specials that they used to tape at The Disney Parks, and Never Forget to Mention The Mickey Mouse Club " MMC" was Taped at Disney`s Hollywood Studios Formerly " Disney MGM Studios " and Shown Every Week On The Disney Channel.
Back then you'd watch Disney and feel like you were watching something upscale and family oriented. Now you watch Disney and you feel as though you need a shower afterward.
Mermaid Night. I absolutely remember this! It was a Friday night in November 1989. It consisted of three mermaid shows. The announcer says mermaid night continues because the first one has just ended. It was the Making of the Little Mermaid which was hosted by Alyssa Milano, a former child starlet!
@1324TN Epcot opened in 1982. It was no longer brand new at this point because Disney's Hollywood Studios (aka Disney's MGM Studios) theme park had opened in May 1989, 7 years after Epcot and about 6 months before Mermaid Night on the Disney Channel.
Disney Channel was a variety channel that showed things for all age groups. In the morning there were things for little kids up until the afternoon. In the afternoon it was a mix of programs for little kids and teens. Then in the evening they would show movies like Planet of the Apes or something. Then really late at night they'd show R rated movies until dawn. They even had a program guide that was sent to you every month.
@ariesisland that would actually be impossible due to the fact that The Little Mermaid was released in November of that same year (1989). Mermaid Night was created for the Disney Channel in honor of the upcoming theatrical release of The Little Mermaid.
Back when the Disney Channel was the "Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck/Pluto/Goofy/Disney Princesses Disney Channel" and not the "Hannah Montana Disney Channel." By the way I love that glass logo.
Dear Disney Channel of Today: Try pulling off as smooth a graphics\sound package as the one for Disney Night Time in this video. I DARE YOU. Sincerely, the world.
I'm getting Splash on Blu-ray at Fry's Electronics after Christmas. It is still a mermaid movie very much like Aquamarine and Disney's The Little Mermaid.
@renegarcia79 I agree with you that they should have a classic Disney Channel. Maybe if we get enough people to ask The Disney Channel if they could make a Classic Disney Channel they might listen to us.
@PhReShx10 if any kid was watching a network in the 90s, they would have more sense to balance out watching both Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network more than you ever would (all three were really good back in the 90s (late-80s for Disney Channel were good too)).
1:41, Now I know what Disney Channel's "Parental Discretion is Advised" disclaimer looked like at the time. I would love to see how it looked when the scariest Disney Channel Original Movie, Don't Look Under the Bed, premiered.
Wow has the Disney Channel changed in 20 years. Back then it was a scrambled pay channel showing Disney classics and Bob Hope, now its a free cable channel with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. Is 20 years that long?
@dominoguy100 how 'bout I do you one better. Disney Channel keeps it regular line up until 9:00 pm, then they bring back the concept of Disney Night Time or Vault Disney and show only the programs (with commercials) that we grew up with in the 80s and 90s.
@demilovatoizamazing eww? I bet you would not be saying eww if you are lucky enough to wind up finding Classic Disney Characters at the Parks ( Disneyland Resort , Walt Disney World Resort , etc . ) Today's Disney Broadcasting is making it harder on those folks who bring Classic Disney to life in the Parks by separating The Institution from The Business. If you EVER get the chance, Visit a Disney Park. You`ll get it .. eventually. - Dwight
i never knew the disney channel used 2 be hardcore. damn, what happened through the mid 90's? cuz in the mid 90s, it went from this 2 some bullsh*t we see 2day. thank god i've never really watched the disney channel.
It makes me mad that disney channel was a pay channel. You had to subscribe to watch all the good stuff and there was no horrible garbage. Now Disney is free and it is garbage and the shows that we had to pay to watch are not shown on the now FREE disney channel! Angry irony!! Now that disney is not a pay channel, we get to watch mindness trash. But when we had to pay to watch the channel back then we got quality programs.
How I wish they would create a Classic Disney Channel for the grownup fans who enjoyed it as a kid! If VH1 and ESPN can have classic channels why not disney? Oh wait!....becuz disney knows that more people would watch the classic channel than the crap it has on today!
@renegarcia79 That doesn't make any sense. Things get old and get replaced. The grown ups during your childhood probably thought the same thing if there was a Disney Channel in their time, or even your parents. I don't think the kids today would be interested in watching the old shit, they probably love whatevers on right now and it's working. I'm sure when kids today grow up, they'll be talking about how high school musical was so great and how crap in their adult life sucks.
@happy7117 I never have watched disney channel in yrs and never will because of the hanna mantanna garbage. No wonder kids of today are so screwed up. It's bad influences and mindless un-educational teen shows..makes me disgusted! Disney should have been FREE then instead of now.
@demilovatoizamazing just you wait. Years from now you will see kids watching shows on the Disney Channel that you will have absolutely no interest in and you will start to start thinking what the rest of us are thinking- DISNEY CHANNEL SUCKS NOW!!! WHAT THEY ARE SHOWING IS COMPLETE CRAP!!!
My Dad always got so excited hearing it😊😊😊😊😊
I miss this! I remember watching the old disney channel in the late 80's and early 90's. It was quality entertainment for everyone!
Thank you so much for posting this, please don't remove it.
this brings a tear to my eye. i remember disney channel when it was like this. miss it very much
thank you! for uploading "disney at night" bumper! i have not seen it in 21 years! thank you!
As much of a heavy metal fan that I am, I can't help but love the light jazzy instrumentals they put in these promos back in the day.
smooth jazz like this is so reminiscent of the era!!!
This was such a great commercial promo.
I like how this bumper is shown sort of in the dark as it represents someone watching a movie at night on the couch with the lamp off.

Man, does that take me back!
Classic Disney is the best!!! Give me classic Disney toons and shows over a lot of stuff that's on the Disney Channel now any day!
I was 7 and i miss this disney channel😢

Wow brings back memories....

WOW I WAS NINE YRS OLD :)
0:44 yay the glass mickey. that has to be the most memorable one.

They should bring back this Disney Channel Intro/Logo. 0:41 It's a cool intro for Disney Channel
wow amazingg
What brand of soap do you use to clean your eyes out after watching new Disney Channel? I use Dove.
RIP, Jerry Bishop.
@kstarpictures unfortunately 20 years was no long enough, since Disney Channel started to die off about 11 years after this commercial block.
This is when Epcot was brand new and all of Disney parks was at it pecks. Every thing was at the top for Disney.
this music is called down memory lane 2
link, please?
Man, they showed "Splash" back then? Disney really had guts back then, not like today, now.
Notice how he said "Mermaid Night CONTINUES"
Little Mermaid could have been on earlier that evening for the kids.
What movie aired on The Disney Channel as a encore presentation during the 90s?
@renegarcia79 I agree with you that they should have a classic Disney Channel. Maybe if we get enough people to ask The Disney Channel if they could make a Classic Disney Channel they might listen to us.
Anyone know the name of the music used at 0:41?
Nope
It's an original composition for Disney Night Time. I hope Disney considers using the music again on Disney+.
"Mermaid Night" must have been some kind of promotion for when "The Little Mermaid" came out.
@PhReShx10 if any kid was watching a network in the 90s, they would have more sense to balance out watching both Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network more than you ever would (all three were really good back in the 90s (late-80s for Disney Channel were good too)).
Johnson's Baby Shampoo--no tear formula.
I'm thinking the date to this is taken from the same day when Little Mermaid released into theaters. Friday 17th November 1989.
Well, that could explain why Disney Channel showed mermaid films until 1 AM!
So there is no tv series on the
Disney channel back in the mid 80's?
1:41, Now I know what Disney Channel's "Parental Discretion is Advised" disclaimer looked like at the time. I would love to see how it looked when the scariest Disney Channel Original Movie, Don't Look Under the Bed, premiered.
The Disney Channel Night Time 0:41
This is perfect for The Disney Channel relaxation music while I'm going to bed and sleep.
Wow has the Disney Channel changed in 20 years. Back then it was a scrambled pay channel showing Disney classics and Bob Hope, now its a free cable channel with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. Is 20 years that long?
so why isn't it a variety channel anymore?
0:58 to 1:40 Nostalgia
I'll re-post it if that happens :)
Mermaid Night! Throw in the Little Mermaid and i would have enjoyed that! Unfortunately, I wasn't born yet so I missed out =(
@mrtelevision Splash is rated PG, not rated R.
Now they even censor episodes of Batman: TAS...
Has anybody got "A Conversation With... George Burns"?
Disney+ launches later this year, and the service is likely to have the whole series, including the Carol Burnett and Bob Hope conversations.
@dominoguy100 how 'bout I do you one better. Disney Channel keeps it regular line up until 9:00 pm, then they bring back the concept of Disney Night Time or Vault Disney and show only the programs (with commercials) that we grew up with in the 80s and 90s.
i often use enchanted shampoo.
That's because Splash is an R rated film
@springert19 Disney Channel was dead LONG before Iger was in charge
@demilovatoizamazing

No one makes money offa teenagers with a variety show they need teen sitcoms

@stewielove101
It's all Bob Iger's fault.
@stewielove101 unfortunately, the new millennium and Hannah Montana happened.

It was late at night after the children were
alseep
The 2 who don't like it love Hannah Montana GRRR
@happy7117
