Oh wow, dipping into the 80's. Some absolutely fantastic albums on that list (several I had forgotten about, like that G-Force album with Gary Moore and that wonderful Xanadu soundtrack). Great list!

Great list as always. We played Glass Houses and Hi Infidelity til we almost wore out the needle, lol. Glad to see Waters Edge in there. I think it was an improvement from Cut Above the Rest. Love the snippet of Mick singing Own Up! He had a really good voice, but he was in a band where everyone had lead singer quality voices so he didn't get enough chances to sing lead. He may not have wanted more, as he was a humble guy, so not sure.

I apologize for not answering for so long, I was busy.
I think the part of the song Own Up where Mick sings is the best in the whole album.
Perhaps you are right, excessive modesty breeds insecurity.
We say impudence is the second happiness!!!
As always, thanks for the interesting comment!!!

@@rockforever755 No need for apologies. I used to have a boyfriend who said he was busier than a cat trying to cover up his s**t on a 4 lane highway! We do have some funny sayings here in the south.

I don’t know what was in the water in 1980, but given the creativity that year produced we could do with another dose. Your top Ten was amazing.

Rock, in my understanding, is a general name for a number of areas of popular music.
Origins Rock 'n' Roll, rhythm and blues, soul, blues, folk, jazz.
Subgenres Acid rock, alternative rock, arena rock, glam rock, art rock, hard rock, heartland rock, power pop, soft rock, punk rock, heavy metal- subgenres and many others.
And Fusion genres - reggae rock, samba rock, pop rock, funk rock, Latino rock, rap rock, folk rock, electronic rock, jazz rock, sufi rock, dance rock, baroque pop.
For example, almost every David Bowie album is different and performed in different styles.
From Baroque pop, glam rock to electronic rock, dance rock and many others.

@@rockforever755 I see your point. I guess I see Rock more in it's 70s, 80s, and early 90s evolution. Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair Bands.

It is true that most hard rock and heavy metal was in the 70s, 80s and early 90s.
Thanks to such groups as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin!!!

I've seen quite a few of these now. IMO, they show a marked propensity for metal and prog. Even though I'm not a prog rock guy, that's OK. To each his own. But in each of the videos I've seen, a good third of the content features groups or albums that I've never heard. And I'm pretty plugged in to the music scene of the time. To say they're esoteric is to damn with faint praise. It's obscurity its own sake.
