Art and religion are the only two human pursuits that bypass the mind and go directly to the soul....Debbie made this part of our lives.

The soundtrack of my Jewish youth, whether at summer camp, confirmation trips or our Temple.

Her music has helped me through the tough days with my chronic illnesses. Her music cheers me up on the bad days. I grew up at the JCC camps called J Camps and at my shul with her music. Her music continues to live on in my shul. I have her music on my phone. Thank you Debbie Friedman!

One of the first pieces of music i remember hearing was Debbie Friedman. It wasn't until later that I realized what this woman had done. Basically all the Jewish songs that I had grown up with through the reform movement NFTY camps were based on this woman's works. Which.....hey man.....that is really something. Any former NFTY kid owes this girl alot for what she gifted to our lives.

I met her in KC MO at Temple B'nai Jehudah when she came for a youth group movement. Bob Tornberg was the education director then, Cantor Silbersher was our musical director, and Rabbis Mark Levin and Michael Zedek were the religious leaders of the congregation. Debbie Friedman continues to touch me deeply and to remain with me long after the notes have faded from the air. What a splendid way to close out the High Holy Days this year.
