I know it's hard to rank the quality of earphones as it is always subjective, but it would be interesting to know your individual assesion/ranking on those 3.
you know, it's pretty obvious, it's FH3. it's a really well-done V-shaped tuning, universal and suiting tastes of the vast majority of people. FD1 and FH1s are more "specific', it's more a model for an "audiophiliac" person, more neutral, more monitoring. I can prefer such a signature with some particular genres/tracks, but my media library contains almost every genre, so for the daily usage I'd prefer a universal approach.
I have the HifiBoy OSV3. Not sure if these are an upgrade. I think the beryllium driver in the FH3 is newer tech and should be better than the 7mm driver in the OSV3. What do you think?
FH3 is more "traditional" in terms of tuning, with a slightly less accent on bass and more natural and detailed treble FH3 is better for me, I like their tuning in general
Hi, i was waiting for this review and i'm pretty interested in this one. Though i should ask probably, is it worth the extra over starfield or it01? I like a little warm(not overpowering) technical sound with lots of details. Or anything that you can suggest around the same price point. Also i currently do not own any dac/amp, will getting something like btr5 improve the sq of this iem over just the phone? Thanks.
I didn't test Starfield, and with IT01 this model has a really different representation, more "fun" and less monitoring. So "does it worth" is a matter of preferences. I can't call FH3 warm, but to my ears it's closer to the sound you've described. Yes, BTR5 will give more technical and resolving sound
I Just bought my first Dac FIio M6 I just cant decide which IEM should I get. F9 Pro looks more confortable for a long time fit, But FH3 seens to have best construction and better sound. I do love trebles, and high vocals, but still love do keep the imaging. Which one should be my best options?
I'm not an expert in a professional usage, so I can't comment on that. FH3's representation isn't monitoring, as they are a bit "fun" colored, not much, but anyway. And I'm even less expert in gaming, probably they'll be Ok, as stage is good, but it's just an assumption
Waited to get f9 pro for long time but they are still out of stock in India, after watching your review for FH1s i got them instead. Does this sound significantly better than FH1s in term of detail retrievals and tonality ? Is it worth to get these over FH1s ?
"better" is a bit subjective here. FH1s is more neutral and monitoring, while this one is more "fun", so many people (including me) will prefer it more. but if you like "more audiophiliac" tuning, FH1s can be your choice too.
How do you compare the FH3 with Astell&Kern Billie Jean? Both are available for similar price range in India right now. Which one is better in terms of overall sound?
Hello, do you think there is much difference between the Fiio M3K + FH3 over and iPhone 6s Plus + the FH3? Have you tried the Mpow H12? If so, in sound quality, with you think is better, the Mpow H12 or the Fiio FH3? Thanks!

Hello Porta, I watched at almost all your reviews regarding the iem, I have a FiiO F9Pro, are very good and I like a lot, but.....there is a but :) , the bass isn't what I want, V shaped..... I listened a lot of comercial music, and EDM.... I'm looking for a good headphones, with a rich bass.... FH3 are or should I buy FH7...or do you recomand another ..... Thanks a lot
well, you know, I can't make this decision for you :) of course FH7 is better then FH3, but FH3 is also really good, and taking price into account, they offer a greater value. so, you need to think, do you want to pay more for a slight improvement probably, I'd went for FH3, but I can't be a good reference, as I own pretty lot of models
Thanks a lot for the answer, Also I'm thinking for Nb 3, I heard they have nice bass, and are more fun...and more cheap :) I appreciate your work , all the reviews are clear Thanks again!
@Porta.Fi is TFZ Nb 3...you have in the review... Thanks, I will chose the FH3...instead of FH7, I'm not an audiophile.. 😃 Thanks again. I'm watching 👀 you.
Hello, if you're a fan of FH1s, FH3 can be not the best choice, as it has a noticeably different signature, it's more "fun' and V-shaped. But also it's quite possible that you'll like such sound, as it's really engaging and "pleasant" in general So, it's a matter of your taste. Subjectively, I prefer FH3 and think they are worth the extra
@@PortaFi thxs a lot for your answer. I really like to try all kind of sounds. I also like the bass, so my last iem has been the tfz Nº 3 third edition, and also like so much. I will continue to see your interesting videos. Best regards from Spain.

@@PortaFi Hey Paul, I also just received the FH3, and so far I'm really impressed. great tonality, precise & engaging bass. But somehow I always return to my FH1s, that I bought before. The soundstage of the FH1s is so wide, the details so clear and airy, compared to the FH3, which tends to be less audiophiliac. Do you know any earphone which is a good mixture of them both?
@@blokkka9inety293 unfortunately it's almost impossible to say which morel will suit your requirements. Staging is subjective and based on psychoacoustics, so different people can get different results in terms of stage I'd assume that your brain builds bigger stage for the neutral and monitoring models, so you can consider NF Audio NM2+ or some other monitoring IEMs in the given price range, but unfortunately it's just an assumption, and I can be wrong
Hey Sir, seeaudio have already released their budget iem 'SeaAudio YUME', the driver setup is the same as the FH3 and also their price is almost the same. Wanna hear your thoughts about it and I'm looking forward for the iem
@@PortaFi Interesting! but I'm more confused now because of price difference. FH3 has three drivers, means 1 Knowles BA and 1 DD more than FA1 FH3 has a metal shell against plastic shell of FA1 FH3 has a better cable FH3 has way more eartips than FA1 FH3 has 2 carry cases against one with FA1 and all of these made just a $30 difference between FA1 and FH3. It's so strange!
@@OutOTW there is no such thing as a "sound quality" alone. Of course, comparing some cheap IEMs and TOTL models we can clearly say about the "sound quality difference". But when there is no drastic difference, the subjective taste is the main criteria. For me, FH3 sounds more natural due to a smaller microdetail accent, so I prefer them. But if someone likes a dryer signature, IT01 will be a better option. So, probably yes, I'd said that FH3 is a "sidegrade", but the same applies to many IEMs of a similar tier
I received my FH3 today, loving it a lot. but there is noticeable driver flex when wearing and removing it and also if I move it a bit or push it while wearing or if I move my mouth or chew. I am a bit worried about this driver flex causing damage to the IEM. Can you put some light on this?
no they aren't, representation is pretty different, detalisation level is more or less the same, but it's not important, as representation is #1 criteria of choice
You said its your favourite IEM in this price range, and I get it. I have a F5 so I'd like something new but then Fiio makes a very compelling argument in most price brackets it launches products in. (Freya and Mangird Tea also swirling in my mind to be honest) Having a good feel for your preference by now (and while I can't say they'd be close to mine but I could live with anything you personally like), would you like the FH3 or the Spring 2 if you had to pick one as a more daily/universal earphone? Thanks for that comparison. Thank you for all you do! I still agree with the other developer - that you can have a PERSONAL ranking list.
> would you like the FH3 or the Spring 2 can't say for sure, as both are good and I have both :) probably if I'd forced to chose one, I'd select Spring, as I'm a fan of piezo treble as for a ranking list, I understand its benefits, but also I still think it's not an honest thing to do, as really lots of people doesn't understand what "subjective" is here

@@davegorthuis6429 roughly speaking, something of ~$300 segment, like Dunu's DK-2001 and so on, to get a viable improvement. yes, the difference is pretty significant, FH7 is more natural, more technical, and they are tuned to different tastes, FH7 is more "audiophiliac", FH3 is more "mass market" but at the same time, I'm sure that many people will prefer FH3 (especially after learning the price difference) :) but it's not a "true audiophiliac way" :))))

@@gabrielcolaco1094 well, FH3 is a good addition to FH5, despite not being "better", they offer a nice alternative in terms of tuning complementing the FH5. But of course upgrade to an FH7 is a step forward :) so you need to decide, do you need an upgrade or a "sidegrade" :)
How would you compare them to the iBasso IT00? Was looking for a hybrid setup to compliment my it00. Wanted to know if they had different sound signatures

> this is going to make more difficult my task haha oh, it's a modern market, just wait a pair of month, and you'll get 2-3 new models that will make choice is even more complicated as for a KXXS vs FH3, main question is would you like a bass accent? not big, but like a "average, standard bass accent" :) if yes, then FH3, otherwise - KXXS FH3 is more "fun", while KXXS can be called more analytical and monitoring
for me FH3 has bigger soundstage, but: 1. stage is subjective, so you can get different results 2. stage in IEMs is anyway small, so don't expect huge improvement
Very informative review. Thanks, fish you like it okay. Can I ask which has better resolution overall in the range and better microdetailazation, out of BQEYZ Spring 2 and Shozy Rouge? Thanks for the review! 👍🏼😎
there is no big difference in REAL resolution between this models, they all use pretty good balanced armatures. there is slight difference (e.g. treble is a bit better in spring), but most difference comes from perception the matter is in representation, that is different. so chose between this models are more a matter of tastes
now thats a BIG jump, The FH3's are totally Giant killers (Sound better than the FH5 for me, And people preffer it more than the FH7), Buy them a balanced cable, it will be worth it!
@@SaltyDerps > Buy them a balanced cable, it will be worth it I'd said that it depends on the source. The balanced cable itself gives nothing to sound, the source's balanced amp is the reason
Try listening to blon 03 with the original cable and then listen for example with the 2.5 or 3.5 fiio cable. After that we'll talk about cables, audio quality and whether there are differences in sound quality or not

@@PortaFi in the meantime I've tried the moondrop starfield but I'm going to return them, sound to me looks a bit too congested compared to what I'm used to.... really hope the fh3 is going to be a good choice :)
Well, yes and no :) Subjective tastes are the main criteria of "best" here, and FH3 is definitely a FiiO's win, they tuned to a really "effective" signature, so there are lots of people who will like them more, especially taking the price into account. FH5 is also a good model, but with a pretty different tuning: more tightness, more impact, bit less accented treble and a tad more natural mids. So, with a some simplification, I can say that FH3 is more "fun" than FH5, but that "fun" isn't overwhelming. And subjectively, I prefer FH3 more too. But it's a matter of taste
Hello, you know, subjectively, I think with UA-cam you can go without a DAC. S9 Pro will make sound better of course, but UA-cam uses lossy compression, so it will be a limiting point Anyway, you can buy earphones first, and try them yourself, to see if you want even better sound or not
The fiio fa1or fh1 with fiio utws 1 That is the best wair liss buds in 150$ 200$ Tnx❤for super reviwes Aloso I have sumsung a8 and xiami redmi k30 ultra
because FH3 has less lows and a bit more natural mids, sounding less "fun", but not totally monitoring so it suits my tastes more. but anyway, choice here is a subjective matter
Comparisons starts with L3 In short, L3 is warmer, with less focus on detalisation and more weight on mids as for staging - it's a totally subjective thing, as it's based on psychoacoustics
@@PortaFi okay so the mids are thicker on the L3 , what about the detail of the mids because on the L3 mids are rounded of with not much texture , so does the fh3 have better detail in the mids or are they just thinner with about the same level of detail
it's a really 3 different sounding models, so it's a matter of your taste. Polaris is the bassiest, Lyra is more neutral, FH3 is fun and V-shaped (but less bassy than polaris)
@@PortaFi would i be disappointed if i buy fh3? I mean ive got my hands on some of the best iem like from campfires and im looking for alternative that is not expsnsive

no, it's not an upgrade, it's a step aside, as this model offers different signature. quite likely you'll like it more, but it's a matter of taste
Osv3 is awesome, i own several models over 200$ and i keep listening Osv3. Hope a new HiFi boy model appears.
@@Oscar-eo8mg yes, it would be nice if they'll release something. Even from marketing perspective :)
As always. nice review sir...
how does it compare to fiio FD1?? and which is better?? thank you..
FH3 is more "traditional" in terms of tuning, with a slightly less accent on bass and more natural and detailed treble
FH3 is better for me, I like their tuning in general
thank you..more reviews to come..😁
Hi, i was waiting for this review and i'm pretty interested in this one.
I Just bought my first Dac FIio M6
I just cant decide which IEM should I get. F9 Pro looks more confortable for a long time fit, But FH3 seens to have best construction and better sound. I do love trebles, and high vocals, but still love do keep the imaging. Which one should be my best options?
If you like treble accent, F9 Pro is brighter, but to be honest, I suggest FH3 more anyway, they are more natural and in general better
Awesome review! Thank you. I wonder how these compare to the KZ ZS10 Pro.
FH3 is more natural, more resolving and technical, etc. :) in short, it's a "next step" in sound (but I don't like such statements)
I am really happy with the fh3 received, do you think it´s interesting for me to get the next year the fh7?. Thxs for your help.
I think this is the question that needs to be postponed. Until the next year there will be a bunch of new interesting models worth attention :)

great review! can't wait for this one to be on sale here!
Good choice!
Amazing review!! would you recommend this IEM for monitoring (Mixing and Stage) and for gaming?
Which one is better in terms of overall sound?

yes, difference between iPhone and M3K is audible, but it's not big, as M3K is an entry level DAP
Mpow I didn't test

well, you know, I can't make this decision for you :) of course FH7 is better then FH3, but FH3 is also really good, and taking price into account, they offer a greater value. so, you need to think, do you want to pay more for a slight improvement

Goog morning. I am thinking to buy the fh3 on 11.11, I am a fan of the fiio fh1s, do you think it´s worth to pay double for the fh3?. Best regards.
Hello, if you're a fan of FH1s, FH3 can be not the best choice, as it has a noticeably different signature, it's more "fun' and V-shaped. But also it's quite possible that you'll like such sound, as it's really engaging and "pleasant" in general
So, it's a matter of your taste.

Thank you!
Wow great review! Love your channel!!😍😍
Thanks for watching
Hi. Between FH3 and FA1 which one do you describe as more "Natural" sounding? thank you very much.
probably FH3 is more natural, as it's a classical V-shape signature better fitting "average frequency response of ears"
@@PortaFi Interesting! but I'm more confused now because of price difference.
FH3 has three drivers, means 1 Knowles BA and 1 DD more than FA1
FH3 has a metal shell against plastic shell of FA1
FH3 has a better cable
FH3 has way more eartips than FA1
FH3 has 2 carry cases against one with FA1
and all of these made just a $30 difference between FA1 and FH3.
It's so strange!
@@villanelp2465 well, subjectively I think FiiO underpriced FH3, but probably they just wanted to bite a bigger part of market
Great video as always, Paul!!

Great review! Was waiting for a comparison with the iBasso it01s, can you compare it?
in brief, IT01S is dryer, bit more focused on microdetalisatio and brighter
@@PortaFi thank you! So if I have the it01s, the fh3 isn't a real upgrade in termos of SQ, is more a side grade?
Can you put some light on this?
it should be ok if you'll push and pull them gently putting in and out your ears
How does this compare with BQEYZ Spring 2? Are they similar in tonality and detail?
no they aren't, representation is pretty different, detalisation level is more or less the same, but it's not important, as representation is #1 criteria of choice
nice review,
much love from Indonesia ♥
Awesome! Thank you!
I still agree with the other developer - that you can have a PERSONAL ranking list.
> would you like the FH3 or the Spring 2
can't say for sure, as both are good and I have both :) probably if I'd forced to chose one, I'd select Spring, as I'm a fan of piezo treble
as for a ranking list, I understand its benefits, but also I still think it's not an honest thing to do, as really lots of people doesn't understand what "subjective" is here
@@PortaFi Thanks a lot!👍
I am really happy with what you do and how you do it, and feel even better with your explanation of why you won't make that list! 😊
Do you keep one of your sources absolutely constant/common across all reviews, even if you try them with other sources?
Im going for the Spring 2 then - its final!

I want to upgrade from the FH1S which I bought for its detailed and analytical character. Is the FH3 a good upgrade from that?
For enjoyment the FH3 may be a good upgrade, but details also matter to me.
FH3 has a good detalisation, it's just less dry and focused on micro contrast, compared with FH1s
@@PortaFi At double the price will upgrading to the FH3 be worth it or should I look for something better if I want increased detail?

Hello, i have the ibasso it00 icw the Fiio btr3k, i like it a lot but i want a bit more quantity in the bass department and some more clarity.

@@PortaFi thanks for your answer, logical next question would be “what iems do you to be considered as a step forward?”
@@davegorthuis6429 roughly speaking, something of ~$300 segment, like Dunu's DK-2001 and so on, to get a viable improvement. Of course there are some cheaper models that can be an improvement too, but it's more a matter of taste in this case, you'll need to find something suiting your subjective needs )))
How does it compare to the FH7? Is the difference really significant? Thanks.
yes, the difference is pretty significant, FH7 is more natural, more technical, and they are tuned to different tastes, FH7 is more "audiophiliac", FH3 is more "mass market"
but at the same time, I'm sure that many people will prefer FH3 (especially after learning the price difference) :)

Wanted to know if they had different sound signatures

> this is going to make more difficult my task haha
oh, it's a modern market, just wait a pair of month, and you'll get 2-3 new models that will make choice is even more complicated
as for a KXXS vs FH3, main question is would you like a bass accent? not big, but like a "average, standard bass accent" :)
if yes, then FH3, otherwise - KXXS
FH3 is more "fun", while KXXS can be called more analytical and monitoring
Nice review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great. I wanted to how is the soundstage compared to L3. I don't like very intimate stage ones. L3 was average when i tried.
for me FH3 has bigger soundstage, but:
1. stage is subjective, so you can get different results
2. stage in IEMs is anyway small, so don't expect huge improvement
How does it compare to the TRN BA5?
FH3 is better in almost every aspect, especially if you like a fun sound with a moderately V-shaped signature

Very informative review. Thanks, fish you like it okay. Can I ask which has better resolution overall in the range and better microdetailazation, out of BQEYZ Spring 2 and Shozy Rouge? Thanks for the review! 👍🏼😎
there is no big difference in REAL resolution between this models, they all use pretty good balanced armatures. there is slight difference (e.g. treble is a bit better in spring), but most difference comes from perception
the matter is in representation, that is different. so chose between this models are more a matter of tastes
