I never even thought of the idea of just going for the frontal assault because why would you, you are reliving a famous battle in history and its safe to assume the game railroads you down the path to building the horse.
1) Spam hydras + regen tech. They are basically unkillable and can solo the entire match once you get 4-5 and with upgraded heads 2) spam towers and fortress to instakill all raids 3) setup caravans for infinite gold, farms and boats for infinite food

I tried this exact strat before i saw this video, hydra spam, but i couldn't attack the gates, nor the walls, they seemed to be neutral even though it said enemies.
I did this originally when I got the game it wasn't until I bought extended edition years later I got to learn the proper way to do it. I built a structure too close to the horse to protect it and it made it de-spawn. 😅
What? I tried this, but the gate wasn't shown as something i could attack, so i couldn't damage it. I know in original i could do this, but i simply can't attack the gate in retold, anyway, good job.
What's the name. of the mod putting ressources on the bottom left of the screen, please? I saw it on the mod screen the girst week of Retold but no more :X
that is what i don't like in the retold, they change so that many missions are just one solution making the game harder in a artificial way, good video any way
@@Dhskziskskxkskxk Saw already did this mission in the old game, this same challenge, in them you would go to the next era and choose the minor god you wanted, he would take Apollo to the underworld passage to overcome the towers, now the developers in addition to choosing the god minor they make it clear that they don't want you to try to do the challenge, Troia has units with improvements from the last era and the lightning storm spam makes it clear how they want you to play make the dam horse you as the player are not suppose to try to win this way, and is not just in this mission they did that, in several others they they limit the way you can play and which minor gods you have to choose, a very recurring thing is the spam of enemy units in some missions, the A.I has no economy and doesn't play smarter, but now there are waves and more waves of units, the mission that most exemplifies this is the long way home where we have to recover the head of Osires, for each urban center that the A.I has, they send waves of more difficult enemies and there is an A.I that should be neutral that keeps giving mummy spam, but they only attack you the player until you destroy her times
@@sirguilhaume1964 That was the sole really difficult mission imo. The others were a piece of cake. But this one with endless spam of elephants as soon as the game start was insane. Add the mummies to that and damn... This one and the last one as well with endless waves. But the last one you have the time to develop your economy.
@@Gyratus not really you have to defend the Nordic allied because they don't attack or defend, I started playing on normal after the head mission, the last mission is difficult for the same reasons as Long way home, each urban center sends attacks and you can only capture one vaults consistently

Yeah I talked about this briefly in the video. They make the gate and walls impenetrable before building the Trojan horse. So I had to disable it

You can manually activate Arkantos ability, why didn't you use him to power the archers :P
