He wants to get to Hawaii so fast because he told Khet that this is the closest theyll ever get to a honeymoon or a vacation. Then he will excuse himself to pull Hogans in the bathroom for hours.
He is complaining about the length of games when he spends most his time on pause, making racist or stupid jokes, then scanning chat to see if anyone needs a LIMB.
The thing is he could get there too, he could beeline the story if he wanted to, but he fucking loves wasting his audience's time and then whining about how slow the game is
I know he probably hid his wife for 5 years because of her weight gain, but the only reason he brought her back was anticipation of the documentary. And since that turned out to be pointless, you're exactly right, he wants to make money off that mistake.
What's so funny is that damn near everybody called Phil putting BG3 on the backburner no matter how much money it's making because he absolutely hates the game. You can tell when he plays it; it confuses him, he's terrible at it, it makes him think too much, it's a lengthy feature-complete game... pretty much everything except the money he's making that DSP cannot stand and his frustration overtakes potential profit on many occassions, this is one such of many. Yeah hes 100% not ever gonna finish BG3.
What's crazy is how hard he tries to convince other people to hate it too. Once he convinces others to hate it, he'll then have all the excuse he needs to drop it. Unfortunately for him, the pignosis hasn't been able to overcome BG3.
The whole "playing a variety of games" thing is just a cope, because he insists that he has a big audience but they're just split up between games, when the truth is he just has the same 10-15 dents on them all
This whole complaint makes a lot more sense when you realize DSP easily triples or quadruples playtime with his glacial pace. Also wanting to monetize his wife.
He's complaining about length/content, whereas he brags about overspending for a sandwich he can consume on-stream, lol 😆 🤣 😂 Or let's not forget the infamous $2k Jasper reveal only to later attempt bankruptcy fraud by denying the existence of a cat in the initial filing. Like, what's the point of lying about the existence of a cat when you knowingly monetize its very existence to further your business prowess?
He wants the player to start enjoying the new Hawaii style content, then rugpull it with hours of exposition dumping. Really demonstrating his mastery of game and story craft on this one
Not to mention the fact that they'd had to delevel the party that you spent levelling in Hawaii because the Yokohama part happened before it, he's a dumb fuck. I love Yakuza/LaD so much and it actually boils my piss to see him talk about it 😤😤😤

The faux concern over game pacing is crazy when we all know he's going to stall the fuck out of the game once he gets to the point he can do co-op with Kat. This will also inevitably lead to him being upset with his audience voicing they'd like him to progress the main story and accuse them of hating his wife or trying to push her off the stream or something.
Phil doesn't want the feedback to improve. He wants to control his audience. Manipulation and control are his absolute favorite things in the world. Even more than money.
5:19 the fact he's blaming jrpgs for not giving him a audience while he's shoved month long wrpgs down people's throats, most he's played before, several times
DSP is the only person on the planet that will pay $220 for 2 copies of the same game and complain thay there are things to do in the game... Some content creators play one game for years.
Phil is becoming endearing to me, in a way. The guy is just a content machine! The year barely started and he's already going full steam ahead. The detractors are a lot of fun too, I bet the guy with the Argentinian membership bombs didn't expect he'd get weeks of content out of it. The best part is that it's all in good fun, like pranking a cranky old man who fumigates at every minor inconvenience. Thanks for the video, I'll go chew my water, take my meds and go to sleep. Thank you!

Hey Atlus long time lover of the Like A Dragon series here. I played though the whole series and 0 and 7 are some of my favorite games of all time. DSP’s idea is fucking stupid lol. Im not going to give spoilers but showing what Ichiban has been doing since 7 is very important for his character and story in general. Have a good day big ups
Phil could make progress in RPGs and jrpgs if he not only cut the podcast but also have one game per day, none of this schedule he's so fixated on doing

"JRPGs typically don't do well on my channel." It's like if he opened a sandwich shop, and bologna sandwiches typically didn't sell very well, so he decides to sell only bologna sandwiches. When those don't sell well enough, he moves them to sell as late night snacks.
For someone whose "job" requires almost nonstop interaction with chat, you'd think he'd learn to BLOW HIS GODDAMN NOSE. Is it a nitpick? Perhaps, but for the love of god I can hear the boogers and snot that has been in his nose for the past decade screaming for sweet release
How has he not figured out that people show up at the streams to watch him get beaten by either other players or the mechanics of a game and throw fits about it. There's no way to lose watching a cutscene so there's no reason anyone wants to see it.
How does he constantly create his own conundrums, and then act like someone else did it? "I keep getting engagement and support for BG3, but this new game no one wants to see is coming out. Don't they know I have a strict schedule to keep?! I don't know what I could possibly do to remedy this" He's such a weird person.
Its so smooth brain of him to want to get to co-op with his "Muh Whife" but wont dedicate, at the bare minimum, more streams to the game to get there. Let alone playing it off stream.
It's not the game or game type that is the problem. I can tell even with his rants, there's no energy there. He should just drop the whole streaming thing. I know I couldn't do it, but the difference between DSP and me, is I recognize that flaw in myself and accept it.
I'm sort of an Infinite Wealth Master. I have over 45 hours into the game already and I can tell you right now. If he's complaining about cutscenes within a Like A Dragon franchise he is playing the wrong franchise. Like A Dragon games are all known for their movie like plots. The combat is complimentary to the narration. However, him saying he's not watching a movie or playing a soap opera. That's exactly what a Like A Dragon franchise is. It's both a fucking movie and the biggest soap opera out there in the form of a video game. Also, also! Him wanting to start the game in the middle and have them flashback isn't gonna change any of the pacing issues. He wants to start off fast but get torn out of that pace just to play the start of the game? That doesn't make sense. Infinite Wealth has a good pacing. You're in Hawaii within like 3 hours.
@@AtlustheBookkeeper yes! It is cause I’m usually in my garage working on stuff when I listen to your vids and your videos cause me the least amount of stress when listening to dsp. The way he talks about how he wants the game to start, and how he wants the island mode right away....It just hammers in more how much he wants instant gratification with zero earning or effort. Currently I'm on chapter 4 of the game, just unlucked the Sujimon stuff (Cant wait for his reaction to that), and I'm extremely enjoying the game. I love how the Yakuza series let's you take your time with everything rather than overwhelm you at the start like he wants it to be.
We need to figure this out guys!!!! He can't do this forever!! RGG studio hurry up and unlock dahndoekoe island to save DSP and the business!!! He's disheartened! Disheartened!!!
I spent 2 hours diving in the ocean an more time doing side quest I’m soaking up every minute of this game because I love it. Dsp doesn’t love rpgs or he would not be complaining about the length instead he would be enjoying every minute
The word “Super Bowl” is a trade marked name. Unless he is an official sponsor, he cannot use the phrase “Super Bowl” in any advertisement. He could be sent a cease and desist letter from the NFL who fiercely protects their IP.
Its so stressful that the developers didnt anticipate and cater to me specificaly and just give me the co op section rigbt away. Its like listening to a child.
6:34 Phil keep Persona out your mouth since you stopped playing Persona because it "hurt your business" because the copyright strikes. The rest of the RPGs you did play no one wanted, were boring to watch you "voice act", or ruin the mood
1:28 dsp drags a game out so he doesn’t play something fans love but he hates. He dragged out lost judgement for no reason, I think he finished the postgame content when he skips that for most games
The idea DSP has to 'fix' the pacing of Infinite Wealth would make the game worse, narratively. For one thing, the beach thing he's talking about is literally before the game even opens up so what he's asking for is for the game to start with you having the open world aspect unlocked then, at some arbitrary point, lock you in to an extended two chapter flashback that is limited in scope because its purpose is to re-introduce the characters from 7 and where they are now. Which he would absolutely complain about anyway. He complains when a substory intro cutscene goes longer than five minutes, you think he would prefer the game start you in the open world then take that away for four hours? DSP heard someone say 'in medias res' and thinks that by using it he'll seem smart to his audience. No one uses that outside of people doing film analysis or because they just heard the term and want to show off to their friends, like I did when I was in film school and learned about mise-en-scène. Ichiban waking up on the beach is literally the lowest point (at least up to then) because you've spent a few hours seeing his somewhat decent life in Japan fall apart and now, just when something seems to be going his way, he's left penniless and naked on the beach in a foreign country. It's literally just a literary device; the hero reached a low point and has to climb back up, separated from friends and familiarity.
It's so wild that he's complainig about story length. I adore narratives that take their time, flesh out the world and set up the characters properly. It's like he wants a game to be utterly void of everything. Just go from start to finish as fast as possible.
Phillip's "it's a factor" is hilarious... he will mention something, name one item that is bad about it for him... then say it's not the main issue but it is a factor. Then he reiterates the factor a second time... then moves on... never telling you a separate factor. Just that the only one he mentioned is of little significance. "I'm getting a divorce. My wife has cheated on me. Not that that matters... but it is a factor! I mean, wives aren't supposed to cheat on you.... anyway, what else is going on? Oh, yeah. KATEGORIES!"
34:20 it's so funny to see dsp, who has figuratively (and literally, rip the bubble blow) created his own bubble and vehemently defends it all while calling out the developers for allegedly having there own bubble, that he doesn't like. A real "people who live in glass house shouldn't throw stones" from the king of hate himself.
It's the dating app, he even pretended to not know how to play it (it's literally press buttons in sequence), getting triggered because wimminz now he's in a hate spiral. He must have known it was a long game going in, story wise it's the Judgement games, slow burn then flares up later. Don't forget people aren't paying for it either of course.
I don't understand what he thinks starting the Yakuza game in the middle would be better for... it seems largely based around story missions and a lot of side quests that you can complete at your own pace; so he wants to get introduced to all these things like the minigame island and THEN go back in time before those elements are introduced and sit through a bunch of story?
After 15 years of dents holding his hand through games, constantly telling him " you're going the wrong way" they're falling off because he refuses to listen n ignores the 99% they're right, because he loves to gloat on the 1 % when he is right, which obviously means he'll be left with 1 super dent, 1MM, look at the sign behind you Phil, g a m e o v e r
The top comment of his "JRPG Talk" stream is great I would recommend reading it. I dunno if the commenter is a detractor or a fan but he makes some really good points. Thanks for the awesome videos Atlus you are quickly becoming a well-known name in the detractor community. Phil could take notes on how to make actually entertaining and engaging content.
Phil shows really well that he doesn't understand game direction. There is a reason you barely see a flashback in a video game and that's because video games are not movies. You are not following a character, you are supposed to BE the character. Therefore, giving the character more information than the player is usually a bad idea, because it creates a disconnect with the player (though, I guess there can be exceptions, but it needs to be done very well). This is one of the reasons why one of the oldest game tricks was that you awake on a beach without any memory. Because now, the character in the game has the same information as the player and you can be immersed or in this case, project yourself onto the character. Nowadays, game developers have understood that you don't need to necessarily project yourself and you don't need the full life story, but you need the basic information if they expect you to play as the character. Which is why you will never see a good game that uses flashbacks. That's a literary device that just does not work well in an interactive medium.
I agree 100%. Phil has a severe lack of passion for ANY game he plays. You see more passion from him when he's verbally abusing multi year paying members than engaging in the hobby he "loves". Look at my stream from the 20th. Yeah, I didn't have a lot of people in there. But can ANYONE watching say I lacked passion or that I wasn't enjoying myself? I think not. Phil has lost that passion. Every game is about money to him. That's why he's sending LAD to the night stream, which he KNOWS gets lower support, so he can set it "on the back burner" faster. Because he has no passion for a game unless it makes him money. Case in point: Baldurs Gate 3.
I came in 2nd place in a blockbuster video NBA Jam tournament in the 90’s and I’ve won a few COD tournaments throughout the years. Am I a pro like DSP NOW?🤣🤣🤣
Phil does "variety" streaming wrong, There are variety streamers that are successful and the reason why is because they would focus on two games at a time and complete them in a month, while Phil plays like four games and it takes him six month or longer. The other variety streamers may play games that some of their viewers don't particularly like, but the streamer themselves are actually entertaining that they don't care about the game, they still have fun watching the streamer. I would rather watch a streamer I find fun and entertaining play a game I hate, than watch a dull and boring streamer play a game I love.
Honestly is is SO EFFING RUDE of these game developers to not completely take into consideration DSP's schedule and interests when they make their game. Honestly why don't they send him an email first before they finalize their plans? Such bad practices by these game devs.
Okay, which UA-camr that Khet watches said "in medias res"? Listening to more, I see he watched some video about the yakooza story. He's definitely regurgitating someone else's opinion to cover his low tips.
I'm legitimately curious to see total amount of times this dude has said words like 'meaningful' and 'pah-sitive'. Like, not just on-stream, but in his total life. This dude's vocabulary is so limited, it's no wonder he's adopted other 'smart-sounding' words to fluff up his sentences. It's like listening to a child read his 1000-minimum-word essay out loud to the class every time he speaks. I'm a long-winded guys on certain topics, but even I can recognize that I'm talking a bit too much about a subject and will either shut up or talk about something else. Phil just likes to go on and on about one thing cause he thinks it makes him look smart, but all he does is 'circle-talk': keep saying the same thing over and over to the point it's 100% pre-recorded in his head. He wastes so much brain space on this crap, it's just one more factor that keeps him from getting past Level 1.
Lol its so true, if you listen to him a lot you'll start to notice he picks up a new word or phrase for a few weeks or months, overuse (and most likely misuse) them and then find a new one. Maybe it makes him feel smart? Examples are thus, that being said, and he kept calling the Argentina memberships "illicit" the other week, seems like he noticed people were making fun of him for using the word incorrectly and stopped with that one though 😂
Nah for real, “overseas friendly” stream times can be a huge boon to a streamer struggling to find an audience in their home time zone. You never know exactly which audience will find you and stay with you, so it’s important to treat every stream equally
hilarious that the games he highlights as having a lot of support were from 10+ years ago. even more hilarious that he thinks that JRPGs are his problem.
Also I played Dying light 2 multiple times, also on release day and even on my first playthrough while exploring every corner I was in the city in an hour to 1,5h. 15 hours to the city is insanity
29:30 This is a problem because Phil is still firmly in denial about his streams actually being supported by his general audience. It's 5 people doing 75% of the donating. Those are the people he is actually trying to pander to. They like new hard games Phil squirms in. So Baldur's Gate, Lies of P, not a replay of Elden Ring, just the original play through.
At this point I genuinely think he does it out of spite, he didn't snort in the interview, not when Khet was on stream, and not on the bankruptcy call, he just gets off on being a disgusting pig
See the thing is he always says “I’m doing the things you asked for” but also memory holing the fact that the people that asked for it he either banned or they left and never came back. Also pig ups on him retconning his past gaming he always said he was in an video game cabinet style establishment playing SSF2T also he studied for school all the time but now he played RPG’s back then despite the fACK that he said he didn’t play those games.
My favorite subtle thing about DSP that you wouldn't immediately get unless you were familiar with him. He claims to absolutely not play WWE Champions and says he doesn't care about wrestling for over a decade, but he constantly uses terms common in wrestling almost exclusively just used in insider wrestler communities. Like "botch". Also he can visually immediately identify every wrestling move and submission hold that King does in Tekken even the obscure ones.
He wants to get to Hawaii so fast because he told Khet that this is the closest theyll ever get to a honeymoon or a vacation. Then he will excuse himself to pull Hogans in the bathroom for hours.
Lol I dont doubt that
I was gonna say for a game that supposedly mirrors Phil’s own life the game characters sure do leave their houses a lot. Lol

He's disheartened!
Disheartened!!!
I spent 2 hours diving in the ocean an more time doing side quest I’m soaking up every minute of this game because I love it. Dsp doesn’t love rpgs or he would not be complaining about the length instead he would be enjoying every minute
Notice he admits to only working 35 hours a week? DSP is a part-time variety-style streamer and content curator 🤣
DSP who tf are these other people you are trying to appeal to just do what your audience wants to see good god man he's so regarded
The word “Super Bowl” is a trade marked name. Unless he is an official sponsor, he cannot use the phrase “Super Bowl” in any advertisement. He could be sent a cease and desist letter from the NFL who fiercely protects their IP.
Yeah the NFL don't fuck around with that
I thought this game was supposed to be the story of his life and now it’s slow to play. 😂
Its so stressful that the developers didnt anticipate and cater to me specificaly and just give me the co op section rigbt away. Its like listening to a child.
Yeah every Yakuza game is incredibly story-heavy so it's weird to act all Surprised Pikachu Face at this one being the same as the rest.
I know nothing about other folks like Dave so taking a break from his robust content is a breath of fresh air for me.
If I tried to listen to DSP while I was sleeping, I would have consistent nightmares
It's so wild that he's complainig about story length. I adore narratives that take their time, flesh out the world and set up the characters properly. It's like he wants a game to be utterly void of everything. Just go from start to finish as fast as possible.
Like a Beggar - Diminishing Wealth
If he's shitting on the story of Like a Dragon, isn't that a knock against his own life?
Did you know he started his channel unmonetized 15 years ago? 🎉
No way?! That's the first I'm hearing of it!
His dents tell him it's the game because they dare not tell him it's him.
there is no shot he said modern game devs live in a bubble because they don't cater to him....lordy
His night streams r better to sleep to than a White noise machine. 5 mins in I'm OUT 🤣😴😴 TY Philip 🤙✌️
35:03 did he really... take 15 hours to get to the city of dying light 2?????? the intro in the wild is like... 15 minutes tops
He bought a headphone splitter? Wouldn't her controller have it's own headphone port?
Id imagine so. Also he thinks its some big deal he bought a 5 dollar cable as prep for stream.
Like a Phil: Infinite Beg
Eww aaah god i normally don't listen with headphones snirt hem ughgh he's so gross sounding dude
Thank you 🙏
Phil shows really well that he doesn't understand game direction.
Am I a pro like DSP NOW?🤣🤣🤣
D00d gotta monetize!
Uh yes
@@AtlustheBookkeeper 🤣🤣🤣 thanks bruth. 🤣🤣
Maybe I’ll start a UA-cam channel jking.
"I love these games." Most clips of him almost falling asleep are from Yakuza streams
He sounds like a mechanic telling u what’s wrong with ur car 😂
5:04 - 5:06 lmfao somexlip that
Phil does "variety" streaming wrong, There are variety streamers that are successful and the reason why is because they would focus on two games at a time and complete them in a month, while Phil plays like four games and it takes him six month or longer.
Phil has no idea what his audience wants, also that sandwich shop you always mention is just like me frfr
Yeah that was very strange he mentioned that specifically
so meaningful 🐷
He's getting that many cutscenes as he's not doing side quests he's doing the majn quest
That idea of his sounds aweful. The story doesn't sound fit for that.
Shoutout cobra style enjoyers. Justice for Argentina is good but what about Puff
He says itll take 2-3 months to beat like a drsgon bit for him it's more like 5-6 months and he'll quit before he beats it
He may he terrible at most things in life, but he's the master of the sneak beg
2:03 He want New games in as quckly as possible, as he Knows the support goes down fast after the first couple of streams of the game he is on.
If he plays the Persona 3 remake, he's going to absolutely hate it lol
🤔 I didn't realize how much DSP snorted on stream until recently. Makes you wonder why. Maybe he just have a little cold
At this point I genuinely think he does it out of spite, he didn't snort in the interview, not when Khet was on stream, and not on the bankruptcy call, he just gets off on being a disgusting pig
I can’t imagine someone selling Phil drugs. I think he’s just swallowing snot.
As much as id love to say he retconned it i believe they were different times in his life
My favorite subtle thing about DSP that you wouldn't immediately get unless you were familiar with him.
He's no average gamer
