  • I had an opportunity to create a custom blue line wood flag while incorporating a jeep theme for a good friend and coworker who was retiring after a career in federal law enforcement. The blue line part represents law enforcement and the jeep theme represents his personal interests as well as the fun he is going to have in retirement.
I designed the project using Vectric Aspire and created it entirely on my Avid CNC. In this video I share my entire process from initial wood glue up to the different tool paths for cutting out various parts of the flag as well as my process for masking and staining the flag.

Nicely done brother. I am in law enforcement as well and I have around six to seven years before I retire. I'm looking at the Avid, this will be my retirement gig. What are your thoughts on buying the larger spindle? Thanks again!

Hey Jeff, sounds like we are on similar paths! I have always subscribed to the idea of get as much as you can afford. Although I have not found a need for more spindle than what I currently have, I am sure I would have no regrets going with the larger one! If /when mine ever goes out I would likely replace it with the larger spindle.
