To accurately tell if male or female, you need to look for a “skirt” underneath the tail. The females will have it, and the males will not. the male is not less colorful, but they are smaller. This is misleading however if they are not fully grown adults. I’ve had a pair for five , and work with my local fish to help identify which ones are male/ female when they come in
Just wanted to share some info just in case anybody else wants some of these amazing shrimp. I feed mine 3 starfish a month, have successfully bred them, but have yet to successfully hand rear the babies, that’s my next goal
@@kevinastudillo84 CC stars, my LFS sells them to me at a feeder price. Asterina stars are like chips for these guys, you would need hundreds of them in order to feed them each month. The easiest thing I’ve found is to buy a small CC, and let them polish it off. They’ll feed on it constantly until it’s gone. If the abandoned it before they’ve eaten the whole thing, go smaller

Also it’s hit or miss if they will eat frozen, I’ve found that frozen decays faster, and they( my pair) aren’t really a fan of it.
