Clueless. As soon as he utters my Dad was a Dr and Mom a pharmacists you know the only real sacrifices was 2 or 3 foreign holidays a year. Also key is his wording. "There'll be all sorts of things that I would've wanted as a kid that I couldn't have. Famously, Sky TV, so that was something that we never had growing up actually" This could be interpreted as his parent's refusing him Sky as oppsed to not being able to afford.
His parents like many Asians value education and want to give their children every opportunity they can. Unlike some, Sunak made the most of every opportunity and thats why he is so successful and rich. Envy is a very unattractive trait.
@jjefferyworboys8138 Who is envious? Lacking integrity and honesty is, to some, even more unattractive. Ironically, these were the words Sunak used when he gave his first speech. It is a pity he doesn't practice what he preaches.
Sunak is 44, meaning he was born in 1980. Assuming that "as a child" he meant around 6 years old, he "went without" Sky TV in 1986. Did ANYONE have Sky TV in 1986?! In fact from what I can tell, Sky TV didn't even launch properly until 1990, so even when he was 10 years old it was a case of not getting the new satellite TV station that JUST LAUNCHED. Incredible answer. At this point, he has to be deliberately sabotaging his own campaign, right?
I dont understand the overreaction to this. He is saying that he didnt have Sky TV . Many other kids at school with him would have had Skty TV. However, his parents placed a higher emphasis on EDUCATION and hard work and he go into Oxford university. His ancestors moved to the UK without "old money". They worked hard and wanted their chilcren to be socially mobile with education . They didnt see the value of having more than 5 channels on the TV screen. So what if his parents had money??? They worked hard for it!!
Don't believe in his tearful propaganda about his family being poor. His grandparents were living in Africa and the Indian community in Kenya and Tanzania was anything but poor. Asian immigrants without money worked in post office sorters, factories (like M&M's), bus drivers, etc. They didn't have the financial means to open pharmacies in a time when racism was still an issue. His story is basically that his family came to the UK poor and hey presto, they just opened a pharmacy. His grandad was working as an engineer in Africa, then in the UK as a tax collector (he got an MBE for it in 1988). He was also well known in the community as he was the president of the Hindu Religious and Cultural Society. From his paternal side his grandfather was an accountant and later he was working for the Kenyan colonial government. I don't doubt that they worked hard, but this "humble beginnings" and "being poor" is a fairytale.

You don't get to choose who your parents are. He was fortunate to have good ones, just as I did.
I guess his parents chose an education that meant he learned that we don't elect Prime Ministers.
Same as Councils they self regulate and elect their mayors in and out like gas and air
@@jrobs1133 They tried to say that his appointment as PM was our General Election and we had to wait another five years to democratically vote a new one but had to do exactly what they told us to do first.
(I'm not lying).
@@DarrenJamiesonJamieson We don’t vote for the Prime Minister. If you can’t understand this, can you not vote.
Only fools and horses
No income tax, no Sky TV.
No number 10, that's gauranteed.
My heart bleeds 😭😭😭
Errrm , He didn't get Sky TV as a child ??
Is that the best RICH BOY could come up with ???
My parents couldn't afford a colour television ,until my 16th birthday ! I am not exactly unhappy about that !
We couldn't afford a car , when I was a child .50 years later , I still can't afford one , as I need to spend money on food and bills , as well as aids for my physical disability, which are a lot more important than SKY/FOX TV!
Very sad story and it exposes the ruling class. Thank you for the comment which contribute to the discussion.
It’s getting to a stage where I think he’s deliberately wanting to sabotage his own campaign. Some of these answers are insane.
Problem - Reaction -Solution
I’m not even sure what to think of him anymore. He’s so utterly useless but there’s just something strangely endearing about how desperate he is for people to like him. An odd one for sure
He's just not a politician and can't act like it. BoJo is and always has been wealthy, but he has the skillset to make himself relatable. Farage is fairly similar, but appeals more to the radicals. Sunak however cannot get out of his hedge fund manager persona and not only unable to take criticism and/or opposing opinions but feels the urge to arrogantly lecture the other party. He did this with his own party members when he was asked about his wife's tax affairs. Despite the question was about how he will manage this risk, as it will be used against him in a campaign, he basically said that that was a private family matter and no one's business....
He looks like he's waiting for the election to finish, so he can do a runner to sunny California!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
Shocking that Rishi had no Sky TV to watch…hope he’s making sure all those migrants he’s assisting have access to it 👍
They have lots...He is such a caring Prime Minister...and the next one will be even more Generous to all but the indigenous ppl of this Land whose forefathers Fought and Died for...

As a child my parents couldn't afford a one channel tv till I was 10
No such thing as a one channel tv! They had two channels until 1969 when bbc2 came in.
@zog97xy I was 10 in 1960. We were given a bbc only set by a neighbour. I may be 74 but I can remember that, it was a 9 inch screen I think.
ITV came in 1955 up till then, you only had BBC. Look it up
@robertmaslin3844 so you were born in or before 1955 were you? You don't look that old
There's children in our country doing without food and heating.
Does he think that people in full employment who are still poor are only going without Sky TV?
'I't ran over everything' is absolutely diabolical. He apology kinda fallen on shattered glass now..
The most clueless person one could ever wish to meet....
He's even incompetent at garnering sympathy.
Not that the "toolmakers" son is any better.
Once again, it's a choice of what kind of bread would you like your s**t sandwich served on.
you haven't met Kier Starmer then?
It's not that you couldn't afford it was mummy and daddy that were strict. Richer then the king..man get him out
Sunak went without sky tv...and once his limousine didnt arrive to take him to university. The trauma this man has gone through and we are only starving.
"It all just ran over"........... said the upwardly mobile british indian whose ancestors didn't fight in WW2 (unlike other British Indians/Pakistanis whose ancestors did, and who sunak likes to lecture on patriotism and what it means to be British). Get him OUT.
most colonial soldiers fought for the money not to defend Britain or Europe.
And not every british person's ancestors fought in WW2. They can still honor the sacrifice.
Oooooo racist
@@iaf010 And British soldiers from Britain didn't get paid? British soldiers from Britain didn't also fight in places like Burma? Listen, the British Indian forces were the largest all volunteer force in world history and demonstrably put their lives on the line for the freedom of the entire world. Without their contribution the war could have been lost in other theaters. WW1, same story. Go do your research. So you need to show some respect rather than dismissing them.
Sunaks ancestors didn't fight, there is a big difference between those whose ancestors fought for the freedom and liberation of Britain and the world and put their lives on the line, and those who didn't (like Sunaks). Sunak is an unpatriotic fraud who likes to lecture others on what it means to be British, not only did he NOT honor the sacrifice of allied soldiers in WW2, but disrespected all allied soldiers by deliberately leaving early because it "ran over".
Sunaks far right upwardly mobile British Indian parasitic social climbing routine is over after this election. Mark my words.

Some kids go without sky, others without breakfast. It's practically the same thing.
Sky tv wasnt about when he was a kid. 😂😂😂
He went without Sky TV while others went on without food and shelter 😢
There's a photo doing the rounds showing the sunaks pharmacy and flat above with a sky dish!!😂😂😂
So, another lie from Dishy Rishi?!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
How can this chap be Prime Minister of Britain?
The 🤡 was never elected. He is clearly making fun of the people and couldn’t give a toss as he has bigger fish to fry in the US.
Poor boy. Must have a horrible childhood not having a sky tv.
Probably needs some counselling!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
It wasn't a mistake, it was a planned meeting! It was pure indifference
Speaks volumes to me of the sort of person he is and with whom he surrounds himself with.
“English schools are now the best in the UK”
When I was a kid I had to go to school wearing pumps for for free weeks until my parents could afford to buy me some new shoes, he hasn't got a clue
2:09 Is this why Sky News was not invited to his election rally last month?
no sky! omg! how did you even cope! my deepest sympathys for you 😢😢😢😢
I mean some of us grew up without a mother or father, without chairs to sit on or beds to sleep in, or proper food, or a decent education, or a roof over our heads, but I mean sure, I grew up without Sky TV as well I guess?
Stitched up by his mate " Dodgy Dave"...😂
Shame on you ITV broadcasters for allowing this to happen in the first place.
The country is a lot worse than 2010 people was positive and happy now people are miserable
True, things were great pre 2010. Life's been awful since then.
We don’t want this man as a Prime Minister 😡
Tbf we all wanted Sky TV as kids just for Sky One channel for The Simpsons and Kirsty’s Home Videos.
If not having Sky TV is the low point in spoilt Sunak's young life how would the poor have coped with a cold home and endless days without hot meals?
Anyone claiming Sunak isn't detached from reality needs their head testing but... they'll wait a long time for the NHS to do it.
You went without sky TV . Such a poor poor boy . Please sir can I have some more . MORE! Have to call you Oliver.
This tells you everything you need to know about him
its honestly sad and just shows how out of touch these people are with the majority of the population
Oh boo hoo, so poor rishi didn't have sky TV??? Really?? Some people have gone without food rishi, or haven't been able to afford to heat their homes! You are so out of touch with the reality of what's happening to families across the UK!😡
Not long now. The end is near for rishi rich.
These tories have no idea what ordinary life is like
None of the rich know what ordinary life is. All of them are the same.
Labour also has no clue at all
I mean it’s kind of your fault for not becoming rich , poor people complain when they work shitty jobs instead of becoming somone who earns billions don’t hate on him cuz he made something out of his life , go learn investing , go invent a new multi billion pound invention , go study and get a better job , u guys all have victim loser mentality
He already said he had a plastic sheet to watch Baywatch now he didn't have sky TV , poor rishi

i went without food, big difference.
Clueless. As soon as he utters my Dad was a Dr and Mom a pharmacists you know the only real sacrifices was 2 or 3 foreign holidays a year.
Also key is his wording.
"There'll be all sorts of things that I would've wanted as a kid that I couldn't have. Famously, Sky TV, so that was something that we never had growing up actually"
This could be interpreted as his parent's refusing him Sky as oppsed to not being able to afford.
His parents like many Asians value education and want to give their children every opportunity they can.
Unlike some, Sunak made the most of every opportunity and thats why he is so successful and rich. Envy is a very unattractive trait.
@jjefferyworboys8138 Who is envious?
Lacking integrity and honesty is, to some, even more unattractive. Ironically, these were the words Sunak used when he gave his first speech. It is a pity he doesn't practice what he preaches.
I think that all newsreaders be like: Have yiu got any spare change please?
POOR SUNAK STUCK ON CABLE
BIG CONCERN
His family was Kenya refugees after being deported. Now he's reaping revenge.
Rishi Soon-axed.
Bloody hell, I only had 3 channels, and I was the remote control.
😂😂 same here
Our family didn't have a TV or a phone, or even a fridge. I was 10 years old before we got a TV. That was back in the 1960s
So, so, so out of touch. 🤦🏻♂️
HAHAH when you grew up richer than the king, what a line!
The only thing he went without was honesty
It's over rated.
@@rkk578 ok . Does it matter if he was born a millionaire vs porn in poverty ? Does one make you a better PM ?

Imagine all the families going without proper food and hearing the prime minister saying he didn’t have sky?!! Disgraceful

Richi Kid: Mom I am hungry
Mum: Eat Sky TV
