Interestingly enough, is that Zamasu truly believes that his actions are correct and just. It’s the reason why when he’s serving tea to Gowasu the tea is incorrectly brewed (showing how he’s torn between doing what he believes is right and what his master taught him to do) but when he makes tea for himself after he’s begun the zero mortals plan, both Zamasu enjoy it.
I mean, he just wants to pull off a double Thanos. Trust. But yea, the most dangerous beings are the ones who truly believe in their goals, no matter how deranged. Even tyrants need subjects to conrol. Zamasu is on another level.

I mean once he went SSJ2 he got pretty sadistic towards Cell and enjoyed torturing him. Same thing when he went Beast mode against Cell Max he had that psycho grin on his face for a while. But yeah his face doesnt reflect his emotions in this game most of the time. XD

Honestly zamasu's issue with zero mortals is jiren. If trunks didn't time travel and earth was destroyed jiren would take him out (we all saw that goku using ss blue didn't do anything to jiren). If not him then broly would have done it (goku black would try to gain power from broly and would eventually make him lose control, whether by killing paragus or by pissing him off in general.
Yeah, not sure how Zamasu would be able to deal with stronger mortals like Jiren. Would love an what if series if Jiren and the Proud troopers took on Zamasu and Goku Black.

Just goes to show the 'zero mortal plan' isn't some, "Unsung heroic effort" to improve the multiverse. Zamasu just wanted to kill, he's also too much of a narc to admit that he's nothing but a maniac.
As long as he left Zeno alone I don't think it mattered...remember he killed the Kai's, which killed the GoD's which means the Angels cease to be active and the Grand Priest would notice that. Zeno wanted to wipe out the multiverse anyway and start again in the main timeline until Goku did the whole ToP idea, so perhaps Zeno in the alternate future was going to do that anyway and Zamasu was gonna get erased eventually regardless.
The writing of DBS isn't exactly strong, so it's no surprise that Zamasu's plan is this flawed. He could have used Super Dragon balls for so many better things. He could have wished for all mortals to be peaceful, or for them to be exterminated or if he really wants to do cleansing of the universe with his own hands, then he could have simply wished to be the strongest in all of existence.

As for why his future self didn't notice something was wrong? either poor writing or the upper tier gods are just that incompetent we clearly see in the moro arc when moro went on a rampage across the galaxy the grand priest noticed this (though maybe it might have been because supreme kai went to him to let him know what's going on its been a while since I read that part so I'm not sure)
