Very good video as it is short and straight to the point. When i do more complex projects i tend to check it to remember some basics. Useful for everyone !
For anyone wondering how he can select individually the boxes after he has done the rig, you need to select the rig and on the upper left corner switch from object mode to pose mode
this video would be perfect if you also told us/showed us which buttons you are using, cause I tried following, but got constantly stuck w/ what shortcut you used like how to scale it Still great video. Helped me rig a rat for my game
I have a problem...- Whenever i try to click "Generate rig" it shows me an error saying this: "Generation has thrown an exception: 'bpy_prop_collection[key]: key "ORG-nose" not found' " then i shows me a duplicate of the ears and that one bone from the head I don't know what i did wrong! Can you help me please?
Hello there and thanks for the video before everything 👍 What I see from the video you didnt change any settings in Riggify even you removed some bones. I wanna use riggify with my elephant but I need to remove some unncessary bones and also need to add some extra bones for nose for instance but if I change the bones from original meta rig it doesn't generate and gives error! What should I do in this case? Thank you again 👍
How do I bring up the pie menu for 2.8? I know I can change the pivot point in the menu at the top between transform orientations and snapping, I'm still getting used to the new interface as a whole and it would be nice to know these shortcuts to make life easier. How did you get the X mirror option to appear? It wasn't there and then it was as you went to click it. There's a lot of stuff you just fly over that makes this very difficult for beginners to follow along with. I have some experience with 2.79 and earlier (I'm just here because I've never used the Rigify add on) so I can figure out some ways of doing some of the stuff that you aren't explaining but I can imagine this video is really frustrating for anyone with no prior knowledge.
Or if you mean centre origin to geometry then it's one of the longest keyboard shortcuts. It's ctrl + alt + shift + C or you can use the other side menu that you can open and close with T and press set origin in the tools tab.
5:14 how to select these rig boxes in object mode? if have been wondering all around to find a solution. there is no explenation what am i doing wrong?
Great ! I wonder why there is a preset for wolf rigging but not dog's. Of course you can use the wolfs to rig your dog though. That said, thanks for the video
I get an error message when I try to generate the rig. It basically says "Rigify Error: bone xxx cannot connect chain - bone position is disjoint. Incorrect armature for type 'chain_rigs'. The thing is I made sure to be careful to snap everything to where it needs to be so I don't know why it's not working for me.
I notice I get an error message on the step where the rig is generated. I deleted unneeded face bones but it seems like it needed something from that grouping. Any ideas?
I watched this because I have had serious problems trying to figure out how to make my cat deform better when sitting etc. A couple of things going weird here, 1st of all I never use the rotation and scale since using the rigify. I am trying to do it like you but things go wacky when click rotation and scale on rig. Also seems weird when I set orgin to geometry that orgin goes behind the butt. Could it be because I already had orgin centered?
hey, i've a problem : I have a error message tell me that the tail bone don't have the goodposition (disjointed i think). When i've removed it, the rig was working but the tail wasn't working
What I'm doing wrong? When I delete face bones, rig does't generate :| OK i figure out - I delete spine bone instead the face bone and that was a problem :)
whers the face and did you know you can weight paint with mirror enabled? would give you a better result as long as your mesh has same topo on both sides... the head bone should start where the neck ends and end at the top of the head, the neck bone should still have influence on the neck (that's what it's there for, who would have thought), removing the weight there is wrong, there's another bone just having a too big influence on the neck, that's the bone you should be fixing. another tip, when placing the bones, you might wanna consider showing the wireframe so you can actually move the bones to where it would be best regarding deformation.. why don't you people learn the stuff first before making bad quality videos with a lot of weird information -.-
Hey Man... Great Video... I tried to parent my character with the rig with automatic weight... As soon as I did that the character just scaled up like a thousand times... Any idea why it happened... after that, I can't even scale it up or down please help needed
I fixed it. The problem was, that I got a smaller rig (maybe I didn't select the right thing before the creat rig and apply scale) and I scaled it bigger. We mustnt do it, because howewer it seems to us that it is fitting on the cat, but in rig's edit mode there are really big bones... and then the cat by parenting will grow to big bones. Sorry if my English is wrong.
@@almaszirom Make sure you scale in Edit mode. Not in Object mode. I recommend you always press ctrl+A -> All transforms with only the mesh selected. and again with only the rig selected before you parent the mesh to the rig.
Presses menus with no explanation, does steps with no explanation, uses shortcuts without describing them. If someone doesnt know how to rig a character they certainly wont know how to do any of these steps youre not explaining. As soon as i move the skeleton's bones, the far side goes haywire, moves in the Y axis inexplicably, and grows to x100 its size for no reason. 2:09

Apply menu at 4:25 is CTRL+A
To move cat rig around after weights are baked 5:14 you need to switch to `Pose mode` with CTRL + TAB
Did your I key not work for a bit?
Also, shift+z for wireframe, and alt+z for x ray mode.
He presses the fullstop key at 1:07 to open the menu to set the pivot point to 3D cursor when scaling, for anybody wondering.
thanks alot
thanks a lot. you save me from searching

actually you can show which hotkey you are using. it's very hard to follow
i will try to do that
Jesus man im having hard time figuring what the hell he pressed
The music turns rigging a cat into a tense scene of fitting a real cat with a deadly new skeleton.
For anyone wondering how he can select individually the boxes after he has done the rig, you need to select the rig and on the upper left corner switch from object mode to pose mode
problem is that you don't show any shortcut and keys, it's hard to follow.
Whats the shortcut for display as -into wire mode? and the shortcut for in front? and how did you pop up that x mirror function up top?
this video would be perfect if you also told us/showed us which buttons you are using, cause I tried following, but got constantly stuck w/ what shortcut you used like how to scale it

HELLOOO!!!! AND WELCOME to this blender tutorial....
Great sir! Thanks for doing this little tutorial in 2.8.
Nice tutorial. Would be great if your keyboard shortcuts and mouse actions were displayed in the corner of the screen. Thank you for this video

Great tutorial, the pace was perfect for me . Thx!
Given that this is 2.80 beta, I don't know what commands you are using.
When I add the armature, I am missing the entire 'skeleton' section on the right. Any idea why?
could we get a tutorial for animals not based on any of the stock rigs currently in rigify?
yeah i can put out that
