    Mum called me today to let me know that she's found a box of my Zoids in her attic! I'm excited to pick them up tomorrow to reminisce. Fantastic toys!

    This is really cool, I'm proud and glad you've managed to collect so many of the classic Zoids. I own all of them (plus some that came later) so it's always nice to find a fellow dedicated collector.

    I had a couple of the smaller blue ones and one red one in the 1980's. I didn't even know they brought out zoids 2 a decade later till 5 minutes ago.

      Hi, thanks for your comment!
      Yes, there are a ridiculous number of more modern Zoids - I decided not to collect those as well!!!
      I have stuck to the 1980s ones & the small number of Super 1000 Zoids. Collecting all these was a hard enough challenge!
      Check out my other 80s toy lines if you get a chance - there are bound to be loads we both had back in the day.

    Glad you’ve acquired more of the rarer Zoid’s! Just Cyberdon and black rhino to go. The next question is will you go after the Zoid’s 2 Range.
    Red Scavenger is one of my fave Zoid’s as well :)
    Will you dare to collect the Zoid’s comic range? XD
    Happy you got the wheels. Keep up the great content, Leon
    All the best
    Adrian.

      @LeonCreatorwithLeonHills  2 роки тому

      Hi Adrian,
      I don't think I will go for the Zoids 2 range - if I wasn't collecting so many other 80s toy lines then I probably would, but almost all the toy lines I have are incomplete collections. Some only need a couple of figures to complete them, but often they are rarer figures that maybe I don't even like the look of particularly & they are expensive but the collections are incomplete without them so I feel that need to get them anyway!
      Thanks again for messaging me in the first place to let me know what I was missing & especially for your kindness with looking out for them on eBay for me & sending me the wheels & peg for Serpent.
      If I was going to get one more Zoid after Black Rhinos & Cyberdon, it would be that huge Ultrasaurus thing - if that is possible - I don't think it was released in Europe but the old Japanese version looks really similar in style/colour scheme to all the OER Zoids. It looks quite spectacular!
      Thanks again & good luck with your own Zoids collection!!!

      Hi thanks for your comment!
      Wow, that must have been one of your most memorable presents ever!
      Do you still have your Red Horn? If not, you should consider sourcing one on eBay - it is so nice to hold a toy that you used to own after a long number of years - it takes you right back!
      Check out my other 80s toy videos & lots of smaller collectables too - badges, magnets, key-rings, erasers, pencil tops - I bet there are loads of things we both had!

      @@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills thanks, at that golden age 7-10 in mid eighties...the standouts were ...x wing and scout walker Christmas 83,space Lego for replay value ,sound wave transformer for birthday 85 ,although in UK we couldn't get shockwave but a friend's father was on business in Japan and he was the only guy in our town that got it for Christmas.

      Hi, yes - those were the good ol' days! I too loved space Lego. My standouts were my Aunt finally finding a Kenner Yoda while we were out on a day trip - we had searched every shop for him unsuccessfully but she managed! When you said shockwave I thought I had that - turns out I had Soundwave the tape deck!!! I will have to add that to my buy-back list! Thanks for reminding me. I had the Millennium Falcom & the Rebel Transporter but I preferred my AT-ST walker for playability!@@robertwilson214

    You're right about some of the Super 1000's not having the same aesthetic as the original OER releases, Leon, esp Zolkon. The only 'newer' one from the 2003 releases I had to add to the original line up when I recollected a few in adulthood was the larger blue bull zoid, DIBISON (which I subsequently discovered WAS an original Japanese release that never made it to these shores back in the 80's, chrome horns and blue bolts being the only major difference.) But I have the European/U.S. version in the video linked below and he's fantastic - esp. the rising/lowering of the head and hidden radar compartment on the back. Very Harryhausen-esque movement too. The green bolts are a departure compared to other vintage blues but really pop when you get used to them. All in all, great Zoid - and in a weird way more of a counterpart for Redhorn The T than Zoidzilla. ua-cam.com/video/_xp-YbAtsk4/v-deo.html

    • @LeonCreatorwithLeonHills
      @LeonCreatorwithLeonHills  2 роки тому +1

      Dibison is a cool Zoid - thanks for sharing that link with me - I hadn't seen him before. I get worried that if I start looking at more Zoids, I will want to add them to my collection (& that is dangerous)! Because I am trying to finish other toy line collections - Thundercats I only need Pumyra & Stinger to complete all the figures, for example - I am trying to stick to the 80s toys wherever possible!

      @@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills You're welcome, new to the channel but loving it so far. :^) I don't blame you; it's a slippery slope, cost-wise! My usual tack with 80's toylines is to buy the cool ones I didn't have as a kid (in this case: Kroc, Redhorn, Zaton, Spineback, Dibison) + a select few of the smaller classic faves I DID own back then (i.e: Spiderzoid & Hellrunner - too iconic to do without!) so as to limit the cost and storage headache of 'completism', so to speak. Though you're absolutely right about bulk buys being the way to go in that instance; in my case, I basically bought a job-lot, cherry-picked the ones I wanted , then sold off the rest to mostly pay for them back again. Only grails I'm tempted by now are the elusive blue version of Zark (Pteras?) and *of course* Red Scavenger, who is super hard to pick up at a good price these days, but I just love the idea of piling all the busted up spare parts on those trailer beds, lol.😄

    • @LeonCreatorwithLeonHills
      @LeonCreatorwithLeonHills  2 роки тому +1

      @@halcyon_hound4524 Yes, Red Scavenger is probably my favourite! There were just so many cool toy lines in the 80s - check out my vids on Madballs, M.U.S.C.L.E, Rocklords, Narlies, Gobots, Super Gobots, Battle Beasts, Sectaurs, Tomy Robots, Kenner Star Wars, TMNT etc etc - I also collected back other things I remembered owning like Erasers, Keyrings, Pencils, Pencils Tops, Magnets, Badges etc etc.
      This all started when my Dad got all my Kenner Star Wars figures down from the attic - I had most of them & they still had all their weapons etc (shame I hadn't kept them all in their packets or I could probably have retired)!!! I collected the rest to complete them & haven't stopped since.
      Hope you have a good time getting all nostalgic & reminiscing on the good old days when life was a lot simpler - the only thing you had to worry about was which cool toy you were going to take to school!!!

      @@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills Second to Transformers, Zoids and MOTU ("The Big Three" ), Madballs, Rocklords, M.U.S.C.L.E, Thundercats and Battle Beasts were all big faves of that era (along with the sick humour of the Garbage Pail Kids cards, obviously.) I also had a Tomy Dingbot, which was great. Think that's my afternoon sorted looking up a few of those on your channel as way too cold to venture out! 🥶Cheers! 👍

      I have some boxed and unassembled G1 OER Zoids that im planning on unboxing and building on my youtube "channel" its pretty non existent right now as ive only ever used youtube to watch folks as yourself. Feel free to sub, (I'll return the favour) it might be a while before i figure out how to handle the unboxing though, as you only get one chance to pop open a brand new G1 Zoid and once its built, theres no going back!

    Hello Leon, it's been a while. I remember it was your collection that pushed me to complete my own. After several months now I got the collection 'COMPLETE', YES. I fell upon this site 'vinted' ,a french style of ebay, and was able to collect all the different models and missing or broken pieces. Check it out in case you need replacements. Were you able to find the missing models? : Zaber, Scavenger, Zore and Zillon? Anyway, I see you're still having fun creating new things like sculpting those really fine monsters. Keep up the great work man, your artistic engagement is really great. Appreciate it! Have a nice day.

      Hi,
      Thanks for your kind comment! Yes, I was able to get those last Zoids to complete my collection (you can see them at the end of this video, after I have been through all the main bunch). Now, because I have got most of the Super 1000 Zoids, I would like to complete them too by buying Black Rhinos & Cyberdon, then I will call it a day on the Zoids unless someone messages me to let me know that I am still missing even more!!!
      Glad you have been able to complete your collection - it is more challenging than you might imagine hey? But totally worth it in the end!

      Agreed! My favourites as a child were Slitherzoid, Kroc, Aquazoid (for bath-time fun) & Spiderzoid. If I had to choose a favourite larger zoid it would be Gustav who looks like a big woodlouse - way cooler than any of the dinosaur types!
