The modern exterior encases a spacious interior feature quality materials and a new design. An updated touchscreen infotainment system is more ergonomic than before. Boot space is a class leading 478 litres.
The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback 1 litre VTEC costs from £18,335 and goes on sale in the next few weeks.
New Civic Hatchback 1.5 litre review: • 2017 Honda Civic Hatch... - Авто та транспорт
Arguably the best looking medium hatch available with an engine that delivers more than enough power for the UK's congested roads. If only it was a bit smaller so I could fit it into my tiny garage.
As always another great review. Would have never considered a Honda before. But really like the look of this new model!
Amazing these days what they can do with smaller engines. ....this would have been unthinkable 30, 40 years ago.
i had a car 25 years ago that had less power from a 4.1 liter engine.
and the costs of the repairs and of the maintain.that will be unbeliviable (expensive) too.:D
Try two Spiralmaxes in the exhaust and two in the intake. It will give you better economy and power.
@787brx8 hello. May I ask what a Spiral max is please?
Have my fingers crossed that Honda see sense and stick that 1 litre engine into the Jazz sooner rather than later. Same with the 1.5 and the HR-V. As for the Civic I really like what they've done with it. The looks are going to divide opinion but shouldn't they? A car that doesn't have at least some people thinking its the ugliest thing since the Multipla is usually deeply boring. Interior looks great and I love that Honda are putting different looking interiors in each car (uh, Jazz v Civic v HR-V for example, not in each different Civic). So refreshing compared to the trend towards having a 'family look' to multiple models across the range from other manufacturers. My one major criticism is the lack of Magic Seats as I know from experience how useful they can be, would be nice to see them return in a mid-cycle refresh. Roll on the Type-R!
I'd put money on the engine putting used elsewhere. Doesn't make good business sense to spend all of that money and only use it in one model.
Good point... and it gives me an idea. Next time you've got your hands on the 1.5 model could you whip out a tape measure so we can see if *that* engine would fit in the Jazz (possibly with the application of a hammer to certain body panels)? A Jazz Type-R would be hilarious!
people already put a K20a engine into a jazz :P but i would really look forward to a 1litre jazz
The 1,5 liter turbo is already in the new CRV, which has yet to reach Europe. It would for sure be logical for Honda to use the 1,0 liter turbo for the HRV and a slightly detuned cheaper version for the Jazz. This can only be a matter of time.
I've had this car for 2 days now. I actually disagree with one point he made. The engine is pretty loud and roary, however, it's an amazing car and you'll be surprised by the performance considering it's a 1 litre engine. I absolutely love it and would thoroughly recommend this vehicle. I drove 100 miles and it maybe used a quarter of a tank of petrol. But mainly, for me anyway, it just looks gorgeous. I walk backwards when I get out of it to look at till the last minute haha! Batmobile!
WIth that torque I suppose it preforms well, but haven't tried it. How does it tackle hill climbs? Most of the 3cyl. engines require not one, but two downshifts.
Mate how you gwtting on now for economy? Mine started well (had 7months now) but over past 2-3months only getting 29mpg and im a conservative driver. Think fuel intake or something may be dodgy. Definitely using too much. Full tank lasting only about 10 days driving 30miles a day total combined highway and b roads.
Ryan Kerr hello can i ask some question About Honda 1.0 in PM?
@@JeeSingh21 That's very interesting, any update on your economy?
@@PAUL-ESNEED Forever Renamed pretty much the same. I've managed to get it to 34mpg but still miles away from what honda say it should be.
I'm anxious to see the Type R and Si coming later this year
Fab review. I've had two Honda Jazzes, and I'd love to see this engine in the Jazz. It's amazing just how far the petrol engine has come in the past few years. These smaller capacity engines with few cylinders but integrated turbos are definitely the way of the future.
Thank you very much!

@@787brx8 Do you have this on your car? Is it any good?
@@petarmilina2814 I have 6 in my 1995 Eclipse GSX. It has A drop-in K&N air filter and some other mods as well.
They help with spooling the turbo A little faster and A little bit with MPG.
Also have some other vehicles with them installed.
My Civic hybrid 5 speed will be getting modified this summer.
I have six cars altogether with most of them modified to different degrees. Mazdas, Mitsubishi and Honda are the makes...1990 MX-6 LX, 1995 Eclipse GSX, 1988 323 GTX, 1998 Protege DX, 2004 Protege DX and A 2004 Civic hybrid.
The key is to install them in pairs. I have two before the turbo, two before the throttle plate and two near the exhaust tip.
With the exhaust tip location, place two inside the exhaust tip and have A shop spot weld the outer one in place. If you skip this step, plan on buying more!
The inner Spiralmax will be held in place by the outer one. Use only Spiralmaxes designed for the intake as they are cheaper and you can use two more easily. They sell more expensive exhaust tips but I don't buy them as I prefer A more stock look with my cars. If you have A dual tipped exhaust, plan on four Spiralmaxes for the exhaust alone.
If you install any Spiralmaxes before the turbo make sure the fit is perfect so they won't be sucked into the turbo!
Let me know your results if you decide to do this and feel free ask any questions.
Which vehicle/engine do plan on installing these on?
Buying one of these soon 👌
This is a great little car all around. It's the North American car of the year. Its one weakness is bumps. It might just be the tires. It handles bumps and potholes with ease. However the noise it makes over road imperfections is horrific. I have the Firestone FT140.
Buying one at moment, - 20000miles 2017 plate, glad to hear Gr8 reviews
I am doing the same next week 👍 how are you finding the car now?
@@kraigbownes im thinking of buying one, you’ve had it for a while how is it?
@@LewisOrmsby I'm loving the car and it hasn't missed a beat. Lovely engine with a bit of a growl for a 1 litre. No slouch tho as it does shift when you need it to. All round great car and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Enjoy your purchase bud! It won't disappoint 👍
@@kraigbownes just the thing I wanted to hear, thanks mate
I need that for my lawnmower
That 1.0 L Turbo is going to use for Honda Jazz / Fit
Just a small ECU remap and you’ll easily get 200BHP from this! Amazing for the cheap price.
Thats a lot of power to push out of such a small engine. Not sure on longevity but itd be cool to have. Definitely an underappreciated car. Loads of them around but i dont think most owners know what they really have. At the end of the day, its honda. The masters of doing funky stuff with vehicles
Is adaptive cruise control standard in all trim levels?
Is the Honda Civic si better than the civic vtec turbo and what are the main differences?
Anyone recommend me oil grade for my civic sr vtec 1.0 engine oil and gear oil and filters and air cleaner filter as i am in pakistan i imported it from uk but m having problems now
I've now had to put mine up for sale as I have degenerative disc disease and a back injury as well and no matter how I adjust the lumbar the seat or anything I find the seats hard and the side bolsters are quite wide so it doesn't hold you in so you are twisting your spine when you are going round corners.
My 2009 Civic with no lumbar support has as got to win it for me for comfort and I can drive that day in and day out with my back injury doesn't make sense but it's true and speaking to Ford Focus owners as well they find that their see is much better than say a VW Tiguan with leather
Just get a lumbar back support for your seat theirs loads on line they are cheap and work great.
@@JB-ki9ql it's no height adjustment on passenger seat that loads of people online are complaining about.
If you have a bad back the seat is too low and why should I or anyone buy a cushion and spoil the comfort of your seat
@@MavAuto-Pete stop moaning about the car then, and get an SUV .
@@JB-ki9ql my mum dont want a SUV she wants a Civic she really do like Honda but however. My mum is disabled she drives her Civic drivers height adjustment fact.... she can't drive very far ...fact... I drive then the distance she sit in the passenger seat she cannot get out because of severe arthritis. Amongst other conditions fact.
1.0 t engine is mainly about economy I guess. unfortunately, you didn't give us info about it!
Hmm no 1.0 for us we only have 2.0 liter normally aspirated 4 cylinder, ex-t and up for 1.5T 4 cyl with 174 hp si with 2.0T I think and type r with 306 hp 2.0T 4cyl
nice stuttery video. gotta plan those frame rates ahead of time to avoid absurd things like that
You've driven your type r and now the new chassis supplied for the new type r. Do you think the chassis will improve the 10th gen type rnfeel
I spent some time talking to the Civic engineers on the launch of this car about Type R. Much of what was said was "off the record" and so I can't repeat it, but let's just say that the new car is expected to take full advantage of the new chassis. We well be at the reveal of the new Type R in a few weeks time.
Love my car but after this the next step up is away from honda I need awd no fwd so unless something change the new civic will be my last honda
Will this be available in the US?
suffocatingfool Yes it is available right now.
Inside Lane hmmm. I haven't seen the 3 cylinder at any dealership yet.
The US market typically get larger engines than the european because of cheap gasoline and less stricht regulation of CO2-emissions. So I would not expect to see the 1,0 turbo in the US, but the 1,5 liter turbo will likely make its way, if its not there already. And even for Europe thats an upgrade, I would personally seriously consider.
You aren't going to see the 1.0 turbo in the US... I don't think ever.
Not sure why you’d want it over the 1.5T to be honest.
_~looks at the sloops that appeared through the winter weather and created a crater landscape~_ Yeah, European streets are totally flat...not.
The road surface, generally speaking, throughout mainland Europe is so much smoother than in the UK. Hence why this is pointed out in the video and a UK test will be important for UK buyers.
Come to North America... we will show you the land of the potholes... if your cars survives, it's a keeper.
I've only been to New York when it comes to the US. Are the roads pretty bad then?
The product of nightmares... Northern USA and Canada have pretty hard winters so it's hard to keep up with repairs. Add that to the fact that they choose the lowest bidder (lowest quality) and you have the ingredients for some pretty bad roads...
In the UK we have such a mix of weather that is bad for tarmac. Water gets into cracks and then freezes and opens the crack up. Because it can be sunny one day and sub-zero the next, it is a hard solution to find.
it's kinda cute how the british say "european" like they're not part of europe.
As an island nation we are not part of mainland Europe. So to reference those who live in mainland Europe as European isn't exactly wrong.
Last time I checked my world map, England was still part of the CONTINENT of Europe. Saying you are not is as dumb as to say México is not part of North American and they aren´t Americans...
If you are still confused you can just google it.
@@skirmich A lot of British people do not identify as being European. In this context the reviewer is referring to continental europe.
Gareth Saunders I identify as American, i live in Easter (or Central, depends) Europe, but i identify as American, therefore I am American.
That is exactly what it sounds like, what you identify as doesn’t make you it.
if you think that is a joy? you should drive a 1.5T from the USA with Flashpro hitting 221hp haha.. that's closer to joy
NEO ISON I'm thinking of getting the flashpro on my 2017 civic hatchback. Would that mess with the engine in the long run?
Cesar Estrada I believe it's safe and other option is Ktuner. when your done you can flash it back to stock.
NEO ISON done with what?
Cesar Estrada flash pro is used with a laptop. Ktuner is a small self flashing device.. pretty cool
You can buy that in the uk
film and upload in 30fps (its too stuttery!)
It is 30fps. We seem to have had a rendering issue.
its uploaded in 24fps, right click on the video and see stats for nerds.
The 1.0 sounds horrible. Rattling engine and humming interior noise. 😂
1.0? It's a 1.5 liter
There are two engine options. 1.5 or 1.0
I love Honda dearly but this car is awful its ugly so is the Type R version
Why the fuck do you guys get a manual with apple play fuck honda now I'm going to Subaru
This is such an ugly car. Its hideous. !
