  • Bryher's Boys celebrate Cornish engineer Richard Trevithick's first mobile locomotive, capable of moving, literally, under its own steam, as we see the Trevithick Society's replica of Trevithick's Puffing Devil on the streets of Camborne where it made its first dramatic appearance on Christmas Eve of 1801 - going up Camborne Hill. That's the first song in a medley of 'The smoke goes up the chimney' and 'When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there'.
The video of The Puffing Devil on Trevithick Day 2017 in Camborne was uploaded by Cornishpastyman.

Lovely old song - glad that this part of our steam heritage is being preserved.
