Hi, I want to share my experience with the mirena iud and all the horrible side effects. I hope this video is helpful for you when choosing the device.
I just got it removed today after 4 years with it in. I'm so excited for my body to be natural again. The side effects are killing me. Honestly, I miss my period...
Mirena is a lifesaver for me. Severe endometriosis. My life was not fun. I'm on my fouth mirena now. Yes, there are small side effcts but I have a life, I'm not bleeding out anymore and not have to have one operation after the other. Everyone is different and some people do benefit so much from this. so sad that it is almost ONLY negative stories out there while there are also a lot of people really doing well on this.
I have had my mirena in for 2 months. I am getting it removed in 4 days time. I am in perimenopause so was having heavy periods. The mirena was suppose to help get me thru these yucky years and after the 5 yrs I would be in menopause. After side effects of low mood and libido, light bleeding most of the time. Severe groin pain and lower back and bad, bad headaches....possibly migraines, I am excited to have it removed. I have ordered some natural hormone tablets which will hopefully get me back to normal...and to avoid the mirean crash. Thanks for ur video and honesty. I laughed my head off about the memory thing, then u forgot what u were saying!😂
I’m getting my Mirena out tomorrow after having it for 3 1/2 years. I should’ve listened to my body when I was getting symptoms the first 3 months, just happy that I’ll feel natural again...
I was on the BC pill for a long time, and it caused liver lesions. So the doctor suggested the IUD. Ugh...workst side effects. I too always feel it, cramps, bloating, weight gain, hair loss, BAD acne, bad PMS, headaches. I am getting it removed in a month and getting my tubes tied. I never knew about the memory issues, but do feel like I can't concentrate. So ready for it to be gone.
I have blurry vision too painful cramps couldn’t be with my husband painful never ok spotting-bleeding never stopped hair loss dark spots on face mood swing got it removed today
Thank you for sharing!! I’m 19 years old and I got a Mirena 4 months ago and ever since I got it I felt sick all the time. I started experiencing headaches a month ago and I feel off most of the time I feel depressed and tired most of the time. I got it removed a week ago and my symptoms just don’t go away.
Give it sometime for your body to go back to normal. It took me a year to stop experiencing horrible tension headache and I still, struggle to remember things. Hang in there❤
Yeah 1st time I had it taken out, it took like 3-6months for me to feel like me again. Im on it 3rd time and after 2yrs I'm thinking of having it removed again since symptoms are getting worse.
I've had the Mirena for 5 months and I hate it so much. I feel depressed and anxious all the time. I get anxiety attacks when I travel between my home town and where I study (I have to fly). I am a fourth year student and I always loved the travel days but since I got the Mirena at the beginning of my fourth year I get anxiety attacks in the airport or in the plane. I have to book my seat at the back of the plane, in the isle seat for when/if I get an attack. I am also writing exams in a month and every time I want to sit down and study I start having severe anxiety. I have never had anxiety before. I am a happy go lucky, glass half full, see the beauty in everything kind of person but the Mirena is making me the opposite. I have thought about removing it for two months and I am calling my doctor tomorrow to make an appointment. I keep waiting for the side effects to get better but it's only getting worse. I hate it with everything inside me. And I despise that doctors and these companies selling these IUDs are ignoring our bad mental health due to them. It feels like they are gaslighting us and I won't be said that what I feel and the fact that I know something is wrong with my body is incorrect and only in my head.
I have 12 months with mirena my horrible bleeding stop but I have anxiety all the time and fatigue and very tired by months ,sometimes I can walk very tired my life is horrible now , I am going to remove and take the ablation surgery for bleeding
I’ve had it for 3 years, and I hate it. First, super painful insertion and cramping. Constant hypertension and never-ending period, weight gain. It made me have 3 periods per year, each of them is 2 month long. I went to see a doctor so many times and I always mentioned that I have IUD, although they still keep saying it’s not the cause, it’s actually “helping” me, and long periods is a normal thing with mirena. Well, it’s a bit too much, since my last period started in December and never ended. Then I did more research and found out there was a lawsuit against mirena for hiding all the truth about the damage it does. I really want to remove it now, but soon I have an exam. I know, if I remove it now I’ll feel like crap, my body will be readjusting, and I won’t be able to study and focus. At the same time, knowing that it’s there doing damage is bugging me. I’m not sure when should I remove it. Omg, I just read some women started losing their hair, just like me. I had a complete checkup and did all necessary tests, the doctors couldn’t find the reason of my hair loss. Yet no doctor ever made a connection with mirena, they all kept saying it’s impossible! How corrupt they are...
They will never admit it is the device. Then they are assuming liability. They are always going to say no. You must make the best decision for your body.
This is why I say everyone is different I didn’t even feel insertion just the cramps after. Never lost hair and actually lost weight while I had it but I was pretty active at the time and I kept it for 5 years. No period and when I did it was extremely light only lasting 3 days. It was great for me 🤷🏿♀️
@@DesignerMom I see lol I just had it inserted again after removing it a couple years ago and I was just curious to know what bad side effect others may experience in case this time happens to be different for me. Tfs 💕
I got it acutely removed after a lot of pain, bleeding at least two weeks a month, smell without yeast infection, extreme vertigo, anxiety, memory loss, migraines, etc. Practically all of it went away when I took it out. Some of the side effects will never disappear, like the memory issues. I'm scared I can't become pregnant now. My ob gyn had to work the pos out for several minutes bc it was practically stuck. My period was worse.
The side effects are horrible. I still have memory issues and tension headaches just not as bad. The side effects seems long term. We will get better.💗
The first day I got the mirena iud my tinnitus turned up 10x. Then after a couple months I can't see at night. Now, I have a horrible rash on my chest, neck and shoulders for three weeks.
I had terrible effects and regret getting it. First, getting it put in was painful. Then, massive cramps that felt like actual labour. Then after awhile, a pain in one side. I developed a pelvic immune disease, caused by the foreign material. The pain and itch from that ailment seems to have improved a bit lately, 10 years after having it removed.
I am getting my copper iud removed tomorrow after 2 months. I have never been so excited. It's really not working for me. I have this foul scent from the brownish discharge it's awful It be messing with my confidence as a woman sexually and my period will last for almost 2 weeks. It's horrible.
I have an appointment to have my IUD out next week because I have been having a number of symptoms. It never occurred to me it could be causing my vision problems! The eye doctors been saying that nothing is wrong besides early onsite glaucoma. Additionally having problems with IBS, Acne, Moodswings. I had the first IUD for 5 years then got this second one a year and a half ago and I wish I never did it! Can't week to get it taken out.
Me too, the doctor said I am borderline for glaucoma. Mind you, it doesnt even run in my family. I took it out immediately. The gycno was even trying to convince me to keep it in longer😌
Mirena has worked for me, I had a need because of blood loss that always resulted in anemia. I have had no side effects at all, this is my experience, I get that it is different for everyone, I had it inserted at 43 and it has been in for 5 years, no complaints whatsoever. My blood count is normal after that. I admit I feel self-conscious sometimes because I know it is not ideal, but it was either Mirena or an operation. I would not have used it simply for contraception though. I would recommend it for women with health issues and only prescribed by a Specialist.
My side effects with the first time having Mirena was very bad vaginal itching during PMS, once it was removed after 4 years the itching disappeared . Last year I decided to inserted again and now I got very itchy eye allergy , acne , lower back , migraine and neck pain, constant spot bleeding , less sex drive, fatigue , can’t loose weight, so I am removing it next week . The positive thing - no pain during periods .
Had mine in for 3 years, had periods on and off for most of it the by the third year they got lighter then stopped. But the symptoms just got worse and i couldnt keep it for the remaining 2 years so i ahd it removed yesterday. Anxiety, depression, tired all the time,no energy, dizzy spells, spots which ive never suffered with, pain in my stomach all over as if my whole belly is bruised/sore,sore boobs. Just literally everything. I couldnt take anymore. Im hoping my body gets back to normal soon and i get a bleed too. My nbelly feels so sore 😢 dont get this device ladies, just my advice
My wife had it installed just a few months after my son was born, in 2010, and she has not been the same since, and as a result she has blamed me for a lot of her problems, however I believe it is a result of the negative side effects from this, is there a reporting system that I can use to help her make a different decision to stop saying that her anxiety and depression is because of me?
I’m just under a year ..I’m having ocular migraines every couple of weeks and headaches all day everyday and no sex drive , cloudy feeling all the time …I’m having it removed hope everything stops ..
I’m 3 months in now, I do have a lot on my plate but out of no where I started to get super fatigued. Sleeping all day not wanting to gym bc I get so weak and keep thinking I’m gonna faint. With extreme anxiety about it as well as super cloudy brain fog. Now wondering if it’s in relation to this
I’ve gone to the doctor for check ups and blood drawn and they say that I seem normal. I’m like me feeling like I’m gonna faint randomly with weird vision doesn’t seem too normal 😅. Wondering if anyone else is having this.
I have been on mirena for 8 years and everything she said I have experienced myself headaches every day it was a lot of pressure constant for most part I honestly have terrible up and down moods very lethargic don't want to do much I'd have to force myself to want to do things also sharp pelvic pain randomly which is why my obgyn suggested I got it removed losing hair issues even I've experienced memory loss was and is awful I did feel it inside too uncomfortably but they said it was completely fine and in place I still decided to have it removed I also gained weight a lot of weight hearing this makes me not want to recommend it to anyone who wants to feel that way not me I changed to pill hoping that I have good experiences birth control in general is a 50/50 on how you react to it so here's to all the woman out there do your research for sure .
I agree with her. About one year after getting Mirena I started to have bad side effects zzz gained weight, always hungry, hair falling out ( I’d mostly notice it when I wash it and comb it while it’s still wet), waking up tired .. tired all day. So after two years and couple months I had it removed. Good thing is - it didn’t it’s job!! I didn’t get pregnant and my hair used to grow a lot quicker
My 19yo daughter had one put in and started having seizures 4.5 months after. Her first one she thought she just woke up “sick”. My wife found her coming to, completely disoriented, vomiting extreme headache with no memory what happened. She had another one a month later and my wife heard her fall in the bathroom and witnessed it. Same response as the first one, the memory loss was to the point that she doesn’t believe she had them. She’s mad 5 others even after starting anti seizure meds. If no one was around to see any of them she probably wouldn’t know she’s having them. Is there any chance that this had happened to you when you experienced memory loss and headaches?? I’m trying to convince her to take it out but she being very reluctant.
She has a foreign object in her body. It's up to her if she doesn't want to listen to her body. I would take it out to see if that is causing it. I wish her the best🙏🏿
Thank you for sharing this! You had me laughing when you mentioned memory loss and then forgot the rest 😂 I can't be on any hormones because I'm at high risk for a stroke
I've had it in for 4 1/2 years and my hormonal acne is awful, excess hair on my face, weight gaining, low sex drive and low energy and more irritable 😭😭
🌻 Hello, how long did your tiredness and fatigue last (each day) throughout using Mirena (was it like during a certain time of day)? Also, was ita constant daily issue? & When did you notice that your fatigue started upon using Mirena?- (How long into it using it- a few days, weeks, or months)? THANKS 😊👍

So you only had your iud for a month? And did you get it remove, if so, how were you after it was removed? I'm wondering because I have bad side effects from the mirena iud and I've only had it for 5 weeks and want it out!
You can not say anything after 1 month. You need at least 6 . But do as you feel fit just do not let people tell you all the horrible stuff without hearing the positive stories as well. I'm on the fourth one now. I had a horrible first 6 months after that things have been so good for me.
I don’t keep track of my age either lol 😂 thank you for sharing your experience sorry to hear the damaging affects, I can’t imagine not having a period thanks for warning good to know it was temporary
@@thedeterminedone6697 I had pain in all my joints, shooting pains in my legs and inflammation, brain fog, fatigue, tension head aches, constantly ill every month. I had so many issues. I wish i never had it. Im in much better health since i removed it in june 2020. But i still have hormonal imbalance. My cycle is messed up ever since. And fertility issues which i never had before. Thank goodness i had my kids before being recommended for this because of heavy cycles 🙁

I had knee and joint issues also but it’s better since removal
@@adinasqueendomshire961 having bilateral calf aches. What type of knee and joint issues did you have? Please share.
@@adinasqueendomshire961 Thanks for responding. I had mine removed minutes ago. Hope the aches in my calfs go away.
