I completely understand. I have been in the same situation. So I have backed up to being a "hobbyist"repair person. Giving me the freedom of wrenching on typewriters as I feel . So now I do so when I want to,not have to. Bringing back my love for Typewriters. Enjoying the history and the use of them.
@@douglasjackson9058 That is precisely why I decided to discontinue the business. The overwhelm of customer-satisfaction, deadlines and money overshadowed the true reason I collect and repair typewriters anyways. It feels as a weight off my shoulders.
Interesting machine and history. I could not see the breaks you mentioned but there is absolutely no question that a precision machinist could reproduce the part as well as the tabulator rack. In addition, they may be able to repair the original piece. If money is the issue maybe a youtuber like Inheritance Machining might help.
@@nandi123 I'd be interested to find someone who could repair the original piece. Money is a factor but I am not in a hurry to repair it. I'd rather take my time to ensure it gets rectified correctly.
@@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121 I understand. High quality, in focus, well lit photos of the piece taken from all faces next to a ruler could be sent out for repair quotes. Alternatively they could be used to generate a 3D model for 1) a machining quote or 2) 3D printing of a temporary replacement part.
Enjoyed the history 👍
