Yeah definitely dont add your mouse and keyboard manually in the USB section. It will lock your keyboard and mouse to the VM only which will require you to either shut the VM down to use them again on the host computer or hard reset your computer to use them again.
My lag issues ended when I searched in Windows, "Windows Features" and toggled the virtualization platform features. Restarted and it improved dramatically, of course this only works if your CPU/OS have Virtualization specifications, (Pro, Server, etc). Great video
My speed increased greatly after I disabled "Virtual Machine Platform" and "Windows Hypervisor Platform" and then restarted. Thanks! (I am on Windows 10 Home but it still seemed to work!)

Greetings, so i did the steps like you mentioned, but my problem is: im using Win XP to play an old game from 2001 (it works on its own pretty good), but i got awful mouse lags - at some point it feels more like teleporting, is there anything i could do? Like changing the mouse speed in XP & in game didnt changed it at all. Thanks in advance
When I'm adding mouse to usb 3 devices in VB it stopping to lag but in host system my mouse isn't working anymore. Idk how to fix that or even exit from "hard capture" in vm.
Here’s what I did: In the VM settings, go system and make sure the Chipset is PIIX3. Also, make sure that you have about 2 cpus instead of 4 allocated to the vm. Then boot up your machine. You should come to an interactive shell. Type “exit” and wait for the bios. Use the arrow keys to go to boot maintenance manager, boot from file, choose the first one, go to system, library, core services, and select boot.efi
Вручную в Virtual Box никаких драйверов добавлять не нужно, т.к. точно работать перестанет совсем и вы устанете перезагружать основной компьютер, пока поймёте в чем дело. Все автоматически определяется. В Случае, если мышь/клавиатура становятся недоступны после попыток изменить размер экрана во вкладке "Вид" - просто отключите 3D-ускорение в разделе настройки "Дисплей". Я очень долго искал ответ на свой вопрос, но так и не нашел на просторах интернета. Надеюсь он кому-то поможет. Всем мир!
А если просто глючит, тормозит и фризит мышь и клавиатура, то просто установите внутри виртуальной машины VirtualBox Guest Additions последней версии и все будет хорошо)
Hie. I applied the three steps but in vein. Still no USB gadget is available to be added. In Windows 11 as the host OS, it was working fine though. I tried it with the latest Manjaro Linux as a host OS and now with the latest Linux Mint 21 as a host OS , but I am getting the same problem. In all cases the mouse and keyboard work fine in the respective host Operating Systems. I am using them to comment right now in the host Linux Mint OS.

absolutely useless, the first half of the video is already toggled by default, and not only did it not solve any of my issues, it even locked my mouse/kb in the vm like Ben mentioned, if only i read his comment before i followed these instructions i wouldnt have to hard reset my pc

Just change usb 3.0 to 1.1 in usb option
I installed Catalina and found that the mouse does not perform windows drag operations. Other than that, however, everything works fine.

edit: i fixed it, i installed vmware tools and vbox guest additions at the same time

are you able to add your specific mouse below once you have select 3.0? have your tried using 1.1 or 2.0?

i am working on a fix, seems a few people have this issue.
It's not a bug, you need to select your .iso installation drive in Drives section in Virtual Machine settings. Select .iso and set it to SLOT 0.

when i use the usb fix it wont let me operate my desktop i had to restart my pc to get my mouse back any fix?
no fixes; just don’t add your keyboard and mouse to virtualbox usb because you would either need to shut down the vm or restart your pc
