    I'm part way through the restoration of my 1970 1600E. Had two E's in my early 20s. Kept getting nicked! However, still loved 'em. Bought one 10 years or so ago for a retirement project. But somehow retirement hasn't come! Still chipping away at it. Put a 2 litre Zetec in it with a type 9. All underside repairs done now just (!) upper bodywork to do. One day......!

    Back in 70's and 80's I had several mk2 Tina's....last one was 3rd 1600E, that was nicked and bent.....but spent time and money and welding rods repairing most of them......then went to a 1500gt mk1.....had that till the A frames rotted out and got to need just too much repair.
    Ended up in a mk4...2.0 ghia....which I started in taxis with........cortinas were great cars....loved them....wish I still had that J reg 1600E now....lovely car that was......would be worth a good sum now....bought it with a knackered engine for £300 6 months MOT....no tax......had an engine in the garage i worked at.....rebuilt it and dropped it in within 3 days.......lol

    Nice colour choice and nice job. Don't understand not going for a 2 litre though for an extra few bob.

      Hi thanks. I made this choice for several reasons, but mostly because the doner car was £100 and came with very nearly everything I needed. Also I was not looking for loads of power I just wanted a usable, reliable classic car. It is cheap to run and still has double or more power than the car had from new, that's it really.

    Well done.
    My Tina rotted out in the same places.
    Takes a lot of dedication for the amount of hours that go into a restore.
    Respect

    I had a 68 Cortina back in the early 70's. The carb sucked so I put a bank of Zacukunis off a motorcycle on it. Man that little thing could move. But sadly the Lucas Electrical system totally sucked.

      Sadly not as yet, the time has not been available, but I have just bought some parts so enthusiasm is ramping up.

    Well done, that's a lot of work. The engine swap is a good choice, new ish but still ford. Back in 1979 mine had the kent lump it took a lot of beating from a 19 year old and survived. Good luck 👍

    Hi, was the intake a bolt on or you did some modifications to it?

    • @TOTk1980
      @TOTk1980 3 роки тому +1

      The intake that came with the engine was the later plastic-type which was too low and interfered with the steering box so this one is a earlier efi one and bolts straight on the only mod I made was plugging the brake booster vacuum port as I have struggle brakes, so it was not needed, I even used the idle air control valve and the throttle body from the plastic manifold, just needed to mod the linkage a little.

    My Dad had a mk3 Cortina XL20L. Went round the clock twice and bit. Tough car dad used it as a farm hack Towing cattle trailers ,overloading it on a daily basis, Driving it over fields and generally abusing it. You're interior looks like Dad's did 😂😂😂 In the end mum refused to get in it . It finally died when Dad was fetching some bags of coal home (no mains gas in the sticks. Only got mains electric in 68) Back axle snapped. Dad wanted to repair it, MUM SAID NO ! And made him buy a new car. He mourned it's passing for years. He had it about 12 years, It was 6 months old when he got it Good look with the build, Dad would approve 👍 Should I send a wreath for Mark. ?

    That whole video was hilarious! The old guy with The COVID cough who was coughing over everyone really needed to self isolate. He got everything wrong anyway so no great loss ha ha! (No seriously, I hope he has fully recovered now so he can do his research a bit better before the next video) stay safe lads (facemasks possibly?)🙏😊🇬🇧👍 nice car though....
