Magnet fishing rivers in NH with Wukong magnet fishing kit
Not Thursday hiking exploring history metal detecting New Hampshire VlOG
I found a good tip somewhere I can’t remember who to credit with this idea. Take a plastic soda bottle about the same diameter of the magnet cut the bottom off , run the rope up the neck on the bottle pulling the magnet into the open bottle, heat the plastic to shrink around the radius of the magnet to grip tight . Cut off the excess plastic as to expose the magnet face. Doing this will help with snagging rocks and unwanted build up of iron in the water.
All I’ve ever found was nothing of value just scrap, and I tried here in NH rivers, ponds Lakes. Had fun doing it though. I lost the magnet under a bridge in New Boston and waited until the river died down and wadded into retrieve magnet. I-pulled out a good size road sign mast at that location: score!
JIm Reinhardt thats what i told them to do too
Ha HA looks like me uncoiling anything, always ends in a tangled mess!
I'm sorry you didn't find more, but so happy your rivers are so clean. That is something to be proud of. I'm trying to remember if it was Chigg that puts the top part of a litre plastic bottle over the magnet top to keep it from getting hung up so much?! I think he is the one that does it that way. At any rate this looked like a fun thing to do and I'm glad you went out and reviewed this type of magnet. It seemed like the most well thought out and best made up package of this type. You do have some of the most beautiful countryside. That double arched stone bridge was really nice. What lovely scenery now covered in a white blanket of snow.
When I was a young boy in 1975, we had a small pond behind the house. I took my father's prized, 3rd generation(hand forged), ice chisel out there and soon had a hole through the ice. The chisel slipped and went straight to the bottom. After a short dance with Dad, that involved a belt and some yelling, he tied a large horseshoe magnet 🧲 to a rope and retrieved his very valuable chisel. I never thought that it would become the hobby that it has nowadays. But, in my mind, my father invented the hobby that so many enjoy now, 45 years later.
I love how clean bridge #1 is. No trash. I think taking this magnet along with you to the old cellar holes and using in wells would be cool. Another spot to check out in the woods. Cool review. Cant wait to see more in the spring.
That stone arch bridge is a real treasure. Happy hunting. Good Luck, Rick
I'd put myself some lock tite on the threds of the ibolts so that'll not unscrew itself from the throw rope attached to it and toss the the thing all over the place in the creeks and rivers around there have a great day now and thanks for the vedio too
That's what I like about your channel you always leave me guessing
I do magnet fishing with my 9 year old son. He loves it! we have mostly found fishing hooks, lures, and lots of trash. We are in Southern NH. I like this kit and may get it for him for his birthday. Thanks for the video.
That's something I couldn't stand doing in summer, but am super pumped to do this winter once the ice is thick enough on the lake! Thus far some wrenches, hooks, nails. However... I have a real special spot that if it works might yield some amazing iron, as there is no oxygen in the water :-) fun video! Cheers!
Cant wait for spring to see what the rivers and other waterways give up.
Thanks Charlie! Yes I have magnet fished a couple of times, found some very oxidized barb wire, and some old barrell bands. Still loved it! Old stuff is great!! :)
It isn't a good morning unless I've got my not Thursday!
Little piece of advice put some loctite on the threads don’t ask me how I know lol
I knew immediately where Bridge Number One was. My father was a professional photographer and took so many photos along that route. I am hoping to go magnet fishing with my grandkids in the summer. That is one of the two places I was thinking of going with them. Great video to a granite stater from another. (Nashua)
Cool video. I have used wukong before 380kg and a 400 double can't wait to see how yours performs
I magnet fish a lot. Found bullets,knives,nails,lures..... Massachusetts
Thank you for the cool adventure!
🛒 no shopping carts found.
Enjoyed watching N.T once again ✌
I go all the time😀 I have actually use magnets to retrieve lost ice fishing items..hooks..pliers..minnow net... knives.. even a ($90) flashlight once😬.. that was close
I have really good luck around fishing piers and docks.. Lotsa pliers knifes multitools tackle bikes boat anchors... and a ton of junk👍🏼😎
I haven't found much. Fishing reel handle & hot rocks so far. Good luck
Try what Aquachigger does. Take the top of a 2L pop bottle and cut it off. Run the rope through if so the large part sits over the magnet and the small part over the rope. It prevents the magnet getting caught up in debris.
I was always hoping you would start magnet fishing some of those old wells. Good Luck.
Don't you think you can go back in the Spring and retrieve the hung magnet? Refreshing to know some streams are so clean. Loved this video.
we actually started out magnet fishing did a few bridges here in wv had no luck with it started metal detecting and never went back...lol not saying we wont but need better area. GL&HH
That looks like fun but I have to say at least you didn't find empty cans or metal shopping baskets lol. I think the railroad spike can be taken as a good find, I wonder how long it has laid where it was? I think you need a place where there are lots of people visiting perhaps but as long as you both had fun while out and about thats the main thing. Take care in the dreaded white stuff my friends, good luck and stay safe please Mary-Ellen LFOD
Hint . cut a 20 oz bottle run the rope through it and hook it back to the mag . that will help you from getting stuck and lot Frankies aoto in nc
got 1 lure sans hooks and 1 metal plate mostly I got wet enjoy the channel thanks
Very cool. Also, not exactly a bad thing that you didn't find anything. But you might want to test a few control samples just by putting some metal objects in your yard and using the magnet. It could be that there's no metal in the rivers you were using or it could be that the magnet doesn't have much of reach and metal objects a few inches away won't be picked up. Might be fun to try in the snow... Still, very cool. Thanks, guys!
yes! fish on !!!
That sure was a cool bridge. From the video's I've watched here, magnet fishing seems to be the best on heavily traveled bridges or creek sides.
Tried a Brute Magnetics 500 pound magnet in our Keuka Lake outlet. Pulled out a 15 foot hand-wrought iron chain. Probably from the old steam boat days. (?)
i call the spike a win!
I don't know how many times that I've seen you find old wells out in the woods and wondered why you didn't drop a magnet down to see if any relics could be found. There have been some good finds by others.
After watching the video I have one suggestion.Cut the top off of a 2 liter pop bottle and fix it over the magnet such that the magnet will still function. That'll prevent a lot of rock and branch snags when dragging through the water..
Dennman88 me too now they don’t have no excuse lol
Or a funnel
"Ohhhh but it is way to heavy, and the well isn't going anywhere."
"So... see you next time, when we leave a site cuz lunch was to heavy to carry in."
I want to invite you guys to go magnet fishing next year at my house....after I have new roofing shingles put on. There's NO limit on the number of old roofing nails you're allowed to keep! :)
Well Charlie and Dame wasn't pad using that magnet I know some people up in your area that use it sometime the chigger is one but it's a hard job using a magnet I've seen you guys out there and not mad I enjoyed it yeah have fun I'll see you on your next
How did you lose the first magnet? Go back, wade out and retrieve it...or just throw your new magnet out and latch on! Nice pics.
And loose it to
That looks like a lot of fun. Live in southern oregon go up the rivers where they had Indian wars, check out the creeks for old guns and mining tools. Sherri in Glendale oregon
loved this video! thanks and hi everyone!
Thanks for sharing, good luck, happy hunting and take care.
Very interesting! I did some magnet fishing in SE Massachusetts many years ago with about the same amount of luck as you had. It sure was fun, though! I have a theory on old spots in rivers and iron. First, I think iron will rust away pretty quickly when it is underwater for a long time and also, when you have flash floods or spring run off that makes the rivers pretty turbulent, I think iron tends to sink deeper in to the river bed and is lost to a magnet. That sure looks like a great kit!
Magnets their such a Drag Charlie sometimes on a blue moon safe, car, or lost murder weapon!!!; )
Merrimack river in Concord n.h runs through some muster fields good fishing for relics cannon ball, bayonet
I guess they just weren't biting, huh?
Hey Charlie, I have a 249 LB & 405 LB strength Super Powerful Neodymium cup magnets from CMS Magnetics, these are the best magnets you can get on the market for magnet fishing. On the 249 LB magnet I pull a ten speed bike out of the Potomac river down here in Southern Maryland. These magnets are powerful. The 405 LB mag. will flatten your fingers between two metals. You got to be careful with these magnets they will hurt you. Use a cut top of a plastic soda bottle to protect it from getting snagged in the water, just run your rope through the cut bottle and attach to the eyebolt. Enjoy!
When a 750lb magnet meets a 1500lb object.... D'oh!
When are you going to make some videos of magnet fishing?
That's an awesome package
I've got a magnet, I forget the brand. I found 2 cellphones and lots of fishing luers. Only magnet fished 3 times, I'm too busy metal detecting. AT Pro! Lake County Ohio.
Should be good for wells.
did you ever think of Ice magnet fifhing
Can you have fun?😂. Obviously!
lol, try that in nashua, you wont find many relics, but you might pull a shopping cart or two
ive seen people make a plastic cone (point small end up) on top of magnate to deflect obsticles on retreaving.
Magnets in drag....hummm. that's an interesting way to spend a Not Thursday. I suspect Rue Paul will be watching later.
Where is that stone arch bridge? Architecture looks similar to the one in Keene off of 101.
You guys better keep your day job
I got ur magnet out of the water where u were. Thanks know I know whose it was.
U guys know that if your dragging it you should be using the double sided hook not the topnkne
Dame we need the cord ,today lol
Charlie you need to put on some LOCTITE or super glue to stop it unscrewing they have a really bad habit of doing that mate GL&HH
You need to go to newburyport or amesbury
Awesome!
Where is The First Bridge?
Yous wanna find a shit load of metal try the blackstone river in Central Falls RI
Cool!!
Never figured you guys as magnetic diggers
I like the area that you took us to, the magnet fishing, meh. I've seen very few videos where the detectorist trying this has successfully found good locations that hadn't been picked over before magnet fishing became a thing.
Nice video of a great product.! I really like the fact this has two eyelets and you can take one off so it won’t snag, looks like a top notch product. I would like to try this next year. No luck? You were almost keeping up with - drum roll please- Oak Island. A railroad spike from the Knights Templar?.......
People don’t litter in NH. And they would never throw a gun in a river. Just keep it under bed.
Nothing to report here. I have no magnet fishing equipment.
What’s the matter won’t that magnet bust through the ice?
Nope dont do magnet fishing I watch the chigg go magnet fishing 🤣
I found magnet fishing too be very unproductive and disappointing
CHARLIE CHAN AT IT AGAIN 🇨🇳
Meh
