If you think ox tail is the most expensive cut, you've been ripped off badly.
I worked at an abattoir before, can confirm it's not the cheapest, but far from the most expensive. Per kilogram it's about the same price as getting mediocre topside.
We don't cook our oxtail like he does tho 🤣

I've been in China for 6 years, never saw it in a menu. Also not sold in supermarkets.

Try cantonese area, this is a cantonese dish! Gordon’s version is pretty close to the original recipe, it just missed out the oyster sauce or Hou Chu paste(pending on your preference), cinnamon stick, bay leaves and mandarin skin (optional for citric taste).
according to asian beliefs, anything that looks like a dick is good for fertility. oxtail=good. snake=good. eels=legendary.

I tried this recipe and it was delicious! Nice and spicy, sumptuous and cheap to make. I added just over a teaspoon of sesame oil to the vegetables after deglazing the pan which made it more rich then was necessary, but I think it turned out quite nicely. Your slow roasted pork belly with fennel and star anise is one of my favorite dishes along with this corker. Cheers!
