Oh man, the 10 minute phone overheating issue is real....no question. Even here in Canada if its in the sun, I routinely have to put the phone in the freezer every 10-15 minutes!

Holds moisture so well, and makes weeding so much easier because nothing can come up through the mulch, and anything on top is only rooted in the mulch, so a little pull and a shake. Bam. Weeded
Kind of goes with the companion plants but grow some wildflowers nearby. It will attract both pollinators and bugs that prey on pests. Keeps your working hours down and gives nature a helping hand in a fragmented and/or urbanized world. What's not to like?
Since I have companion planted beans near the roots of my tomato plants along with Marks pruning advice on tomatoes I am getting yields of tomatoes that sound too high to everyone I tell about it. But they sure do love the baskets of tomatoes I drop off.
I’m mulching this year for the first time and let me tell ya, I’ve spent maybe 5 minutes on weeding since the start of the season. And we are watering less. Great tip!! 👍
@@Selfsufficientme Thanks Mark. An Idea for you: I killed 5+ cucumbers last week by not hardening them (I thought they were hardy enough to take full sun & exposure). And I mean that as a real thanks and also a negative "thanks" because now I am in deep talks with the wife about a new home. All the best!
I am new to gardening at my new house. These have been enjoyable to watch and learn. I am attempting potatoes, romaine lettuce, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, corn, watermelon, peppers, green bean bush, cantaloupe, cucumber, zucchini, lemons. Too many for my garden however.
Varieties are great for our microbiom, there are studies out there about this! :) You are right :) hope that solidifies your statment with the point about varieties.
Thanks Mark! 💜🇺🇸 Your videos often hit here at night not long before I'm hitting sack. Your sense of humor sends me off with a light heart.🙂 In my climate, I've started growing a cover crop of alfalfa to over winter. This spring, I cut it down to the ground, fed some to the chicks and composted the rest. The other bed, I put a heavy layer of compost. We'll see which does better this year.😉 Love and hugs from Idaho! 🤗🇺🇸
It's finally warm enough to plant out my peppers and tomatoes, and I just have a few spring plantings to seed out today and then I don't need to plant anything else until my fall plantings. Got my first chickens this year, and I can't wait for the benefits of their eggs and hurrying up composting!

Soooooooo good to see an excellent example that age isn't an impediment for being funny, really knowledgeable, entertaining, I never want to stop watching a video of yours and I have been a sub for years!!. Man thanks for all the good tips and tricks on all vids. Much love from Costa Rica!!
Brussels sprouts are lovely. Try chopping up bacon really small and frying it, adding in par boiled sprouts with some honey, soy sauce, and sesame seeds. Mix around until the sprouts have some brown charring and the honey and soy sauce is sticking to them. Some chopped scallions sprinkled over top when you serve it and there you go 😋🍴 It'll likely taste even better with home grown sprouts and scallions.

Kind of goes with the companion plants but grow some wildflowers nearby. It will attract both pollinators and bugs that prey on pests. Keeps your working hours down and gives nature a helping hand in a fragmented and/or urbanized world. What's not to like?
Ok, the dedication to count to 15, Mark took his boot and sock off. Legitness to the max, hats off to you Mark! :)
Absolutely love the videos. You've helped me be inspired to start my raised beds and pots to grow a few plants and herbs. Keep doing what your doing.
Your message is gardening wisdom.
New video from Mark! Quick, let’s get into it!
Since I have companion planted beans near the roots of my tomato plants along with Marks pruning advice on tomatoes I am getting yields of tomatoes that sound too high to everyone I tell about it. But they sure do love the baskets of tomatoes I drop off.
Love the humor!
I’m mulching this year for the first time and let me tell ya, I’ve spent maybe 5 minutes on weeding since the start of the season. And we are watering less. Great tip!! 👍
You have such a nice energy.
Love the sense of humor and the great advice!
Hi🌹
Mark! Greeting from San Diego, California!
Thank you for the outstanding gardening, tips, tricks, and belly laugh jokes! 🙏 🌱 👩🌾
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you :)
Honestly i dont know what i like more, the gardening tips, the damn jokes, or the accent. Love your videos man
How do you look 20 years older in your flash backs? Good on you!
You are way too kind Paul but flattery will get you EVERYWHERE mate (with me) lol... Cheers :)
@@Selfsufficientme Thanks Mark. An Idea for you: I killed 5+ cucumbers last week by not hardening them (I thought they were hardy enough to take full sun & exposure). Maybe a video about when it is the right time to take plant out of a nursery could be good. Also, thanks for the home steading video... And I mean that as a real thanks and also a negative "thanks" because now I am in deep talks with the wife about a new home. All the best!
I save all my lettuce seeds and I find the birds also really like to eat the seeds. I am happy to share with them
Great video, Mark! Thank you for all the great tips, composting as #1 was dead on. And having a diverse diet is super healthy :)
Thank you Elaine! :)
I always enjoy your tutorial and your sense of humor is just right
Thanks Mark! 💜🇺🇸
Your videos often hit here at night not long before I'm hitting sack. Your sense of humor sends me off with a light heart.🙂
In my climate, I've started growing a cover crop of alfalfa to over winter. This spring, I cut it down to the ground, fed some to the chicks and composted the rest. The other bed, I put a heavy layer of compost. We'll see which does better this year.😉
Love and hugs from Idaho! 🤗🇺🇸
Hi🌹
G'day Trish! Alfalfa as a cover crop serving two purposes is a top TIP! All the best for the coming season, cheers :)
I am doing organic garden in my flower pots and I have learnt a lot. Thank you from Meghalaya India.
Thanks for all of the knowledge and garden fun, too.
Enjoying this channel
I love how you throw in pics of my frozen tundra climate lol
Living in upstate New York, I twitch in envy of Australian and southern U.S. gardeners on UA-cam.
It's finally warm enough to plant out my peppers and tomatoes, and I just have a few spring plantings to seed out today and then I don't need to plant anything else until my fall plantings. Got my first chickens this year, and I can't wait for the benefits of their eggs and hurrying up composting!
You won't regret those hens Jessica they are delightful animals! All the best :)
I’m planting my nee raised bed tomorrow! So excited. Great tips and jokes!
That's lovely. Hi🌹
All the best with your raised bed Jennifer! :)
Man I mean this in the best posible way... Soooooooo good to see an excellent example that age isn't an impediment for being funny, really knowledgeable, entertaining, I never want to stop watching a video of yours and I have been a sub for years!!. Man thanks for all the good tips and tricks on all vids. Much love from Costa Rica!!
Share! Extra vegs, knowledge, or time... even if it is just a patio pot of an elder who cant get out. 😇😇😇
Brussels sprouts are lovely.
Try chopping up bacon really small and frying it, adding in par boiled sprouts with some honey, soy sauce, and sesame seeds.
Mix around until the sprouts have some brown charring and the honey and soy sauce is sticking to them.
Some chopped scallions sprinkled over top when you serve it and there you go 😋🍴
It'll likely taste even better with home grown sprouts and scallions.
