You order a cappuccino after 12 noon right before eating your main meal and you want to buy a plot of land and build a house on it. In Italy. Let me get the popcorn.
A couple of observations, Tim. I've thought this often, but never mentioned it before: your production quality on these vlogs, particularly during the opening sequences, is first rate. And my second observation: your thoughts and dreams of places to go, vehicles to acquire, and places to live, are romantic and mutually shared, and the look on Mr. Boo's face - the bug-eyed incredulity as you explain to us your thoughts on these matters - is priceless. We know who the practical one is in your relationship, but I, like you, am a dreamer. "Just a mad idea I've had overnight" indeed.
Mister Me and Mister Boo and Elton and Twiggy 🐶🐕soooo the searc is on for a small plot of land! Is this pie in the sky🤔or is it leading to a game changing life style 🙂👍good luck on your quest! Funnily enough, we had just the same idea as you had about two years ago - we love the French Riviera and thought it would be a smart move to see whether it wouldn‘t be so much cheaper to buy property in Italy, just a few miles from the French border. We even stayed on the same camp site as you did and ventured out from there. We even went to the same real estate agent in Isolabona. But in the end we found that it just wasn‘t for us - the properties were either not to our taste or too derelict, the villages too gloomy even in summer. So this year we managed to find a tiny apartment we could just about afford in France, not too far away from Saint Tropez. We love your videos and all the ideas it gives us what to do, see and eat around Villefranche. Maybe one day we‘ll bump into each other!
How funny and yup I hear you… our thinking evolves this week (I think that’s the modern phrase!) Glad you are enjoying the channel and hope to see you down here one day
We love your videos. We're house hunting in the other side of the south of France in the foothills of the Pyrenees where houses can be found for under 50,000.
Just make sure to check with the local authorities if you are allowed to build before you buy anything, because the real estate agent would probably tell you anything to make a sale. Maybe I’m a bit cynical, but in general I don’t trust anyone further than I can throw them.
No fear of that. No agent will want their fingerprints anywhere near a train wreck. Agents and sellers are from the places where they work, and care about what happens there, and won't get snarled up in something headed for disaster. Also, any such property will be listed as "edificabile" (buildable) or not; there is no faking it. And in these small towns, everyone sees and knows everything that happens, so there is no sneaking around. Also, there will be notaries and bankers and translators involved in the transaction, a whole passel of local business people who have reputations to protect. Italy is a conservative country, and as in many other countries, real estate is the second if not first religion.

The location is fantastic, absolutely perfect and beautiful. However, a project like that involves a lot of work and can be quite expensive. Turning a piece of raw land into a place suitable for placing a container or some kind of modular home is quite costly, but without a doubt, it's a dream location.
Very Enjoyable Episode. I don't know if this would interest you, but, this happened when I was 12 years old so I only remember the basics. The Father of one of my Friends bought a piece of land. He obviously had worked everything out but I can't tell you how he did it. He built a brick frame about 2 feet high, the size and shape of 1 of the 2 large Container he was about to buy. He had sketches of what it would look like on the inside. Livingroom, Kitchen and Bathroom etc. The second Container would be secured on the top of the other Container. The 'Upstairs' would have Two Bedrooms, a Toilet with a Shower, a Study. It was a Spiral Staircase that would be put in. it's easy to arrange for Plumbing and Electric installed in Scotland. Windows and a Door were cut out and installed. The outside was coated in cement then when the time was right, before it set, shapes were made to make it look like an Old Stone Building. I can remember to hide the fact the Walls were a Metal Container, they had large sections of Wood to Cover the Walls and Ceilings. Some walls were Papered, some with Tiles and others Emulsioned. they did something with the upstairs Roof but I can't remember what.🧸🧸🐶🚙
