My 89 formula was hitting mid 14s bone stock. Not fast but definitely no slouch. 345 ft lbs of torque at 3200 rpms. Yea the top end was lacking and it ran out of breath over 4k rpm. My current build is a lt1 swapped third gen with mlre than double the HP of both of these pigs on pump gas.
Can't you just retard the cam timing to gain a lil power on the top end? Running out of breath at 4k is like slant six performance characteristics, and I'm bout to do the tuning too to get it to spool up a lil more as I know the cam is way too early in on the game
A stock 3rd gen with a 5.7 is MAYBE a ~180whp and basically a 16 second car. Even a stock AP2 would be faster than that let alone one with mods. Something is done to the Firebird; a cam, a convertor, something isn’t stock if it put 1/2 car length on that S2K.
