  • #Skanf style was developed by Yuri Fedin. • метание техника СКАНФ ... .
It focuses on using interial energy to launch blades as arrows.
I was introduced to this style through a man named Petr Benda on Instagram. (www.instagram....)
The blades I am using are not proper for this style of throwing, but I can still feel the fundamentals, and I can feel the immense energy generated by this discipline.
The blades in this video are #THRWCLUB 10" spikes and a #SOG #FLING left from a destroyed set I've had for years.
These blades are great in their own rights, but I feel I need a set of Petr Benda's #Skanf blades because they are designed specifically for this discipline, and they are BEAUTIFUL.
Petr Benda's #Skanf knives will be available soon on delta2alpha.co...

I honestly prefer the Thorn/instinctive style. Where I come down across the spine, throwing point first. I find it's WAY more accurate and faster for me than spinning styles. Slightly less powerful but not having to calculate spin or hold the knife differently for different distances helps me be more consistent with aiming and throwing. Also, usefully, the Thorn type techniques don't require specialized symmetrically shaped knives, mostly just anything with a good balance and straight spine. I started out using balanced steak knives for many years (though their tips bent/broke easily).
I'm curious why you seem to throw almost sideways? I don't think I've *_ever_* seen a technique like that before.

I'm new to throwing. I started trying Skanf style and wanted to film to analyze myself.
I realized I was doing it wrong. I am exerting too much energy here. The style doesn't need that much energy, and i wouldn't be able to transition to further distance.
This was fun, but not practical.
I have since bought 10" THKFWD spikes, and I've slowed my delivery. I try to let the blade do the work..
      I practice different styles.
My main goal is distance with a stiff bent finger along the spine.. my longest set is 21' with stiff finger no-spin.
Here is an example of what I am trying to immulate. I have since abandoned Skanf for now..ua-cam.com/video/6IrCSaudrrw/v-deo.htmlsi=WHbNgW0Zw-rK-2dr

Nice practice bro. In wave style technique, try generating power from your lower half of your body first. Start your movement from the ground up so it's like a wave coming from the ground up through your body into your arm the lead should start from your hips to the Target first and then let the knife come from behind like it's attached to a rope. It's almost like you're going to be cracking a whip. You got this. Keep it up 👊

This is interesting stuff, man. It's like you're on the cusp of something similar to the jissen throw of Meifu Shinkage Ryu, but on a horizontal, rather than vertical axis. Not quite the same, though. And not quite skanf, either. But very interesting. I'd love to see what you're doing now. 👍👍

I really appreciate your comment. After analysis, i realized this wasn't skanf at all! I've learned that the blades have power in them already. We just have to reveal and guide the power. Here, i exerted too much energy. Skanf doesn't rely on one's arm for power. (In my defense, I had just begun trying this a few minutes prior to filming)
I've abandoned training Skanf until i have a better target. I started throwing last November, and I've only got the 1.5" diameter target. It's not fun digging for blades.
I'm training bo-shuriken style, BIM, and whatever the heck Lester Flor does.
Things will change for me once i build my target.
      Thanks again for your comment.

@atrocious_pr0xy Boy... last November... You're a fast learner. 🫡 I know the feeling, re digging for blades... though it's been a while, since I don't throw outside much, anymore. Skanf is an interesting system to watch... the mechanics are wonderful, but the body mechanics are such that I've (and a lot of folks) always seen it as more of a sport style, than a combative one; I've heard the physics of skanf described as the knife flying like a hammer, thrown by a track and field person. Very interesting. As for Lester Flor... Yeah, he's really good and very versatile. It sounds like you're doing great things over there, brother. Keep it up, and please share your progress with us, when you're ready. 👍👍

This was a learning experience. I realized I wasn't actually doing the method i was trying to learn upon review of this.
I've grown as a throwing since this, but i won't post more until I'm consistent.
I practice bo-shuriken style and whatever Lester Flor is doing! I'll save Skanf style for when I'm confident of my control and have a bigger target

Great throwing brother! I started making my own knives because I couldn't afford them. If you can find a leaf spring an angle grinder a hamm er a campfire and some vegetable oil you can do it

Man, I'm not sure how I missed your comment! I appreciate the advice, and i do intend to mess around making sticks. The ones i use aren't expensive, but there are other designs i want to try. I can't justify a big purchase at the moment. Delta2alpha has such a sick selection, though.

@Throwsessive I'm excited. I have some ideas. I love ilikeknive's skanf knife. The way the weight distributes through the blade. I want to play with that balance.

I have no problem copying others designs for my own personal use. I just would not sell copy's because that would seem dishonorable
