This must be one of the worst scenes from the new trilogy. The part where anakin just stands there like he wants his hand to be cut is just horrible. It’s so bad it’s good though luckily

That just means Anakin has a much higher pain tolerance.
Luke didn't pass out. Mace Windu also screamed. The only reason Anakin didn't scream is because he was unconscious.
Not to mention he got hit by a very powerful force push at point blank range.
The dialogue is so cheesy but I must admit the "I am a slow learner" line was pretty savage.
I know right, those first several lines are there just to set up a one on one duel between Dooku and Obi Wan.
I cringed at that too. He's pretty much insulting himself without realising it.

I like how when you compare this to the fight in ROTS, you can see just how much progress Anakin has made.
Here is look very nervous and tentative about making any sort of an approach, and ultimately pays for it.

1:05 That's an interesting parallel/form of foreshadowing that George Lucas pulled there. Anakin and Padme wake up at the same time in this scene. Yet, in their final scene in Revenge of the Sith, Padme dies in the same moment that Vader awakens.

+Mike Hunt close up shots of christopher lee fighting. close ups like that are the only way to show an elderly person like christopher lee and ian mcdiarmid actually fighting. christopher lee at the time was too old to pull off the quick foot work that his stunt double can pull off. unfortunately in episode 2, they were so focused on the yoda fight and the rest of the film that this duel came out pretty anticlimactic. they basically just used this duel to fill plot holes. kinda sad, this duel has the best sound effects out of all the movies in it. especially the little move at 0:46. had the choreography been more consistent and the duel been longer, it woulda been one of the best of the saga. i mean, from a canon persepctive.. they WERE in a small geonosian hangar as dooku was fleeing so there isnt much room to work with. much like vader vs obi wans duel being in a small hallway.

Zhake Um, _Attack of the Clones_ didn't rip-off any scenes from _The Empire Strikes Back_. There were certain parallels, of course, but nothing was an outright rip-off, unlike _The Farce Awakens_ which blatantly copied the plot of _A New Hope_, story beat for story beat.
+Darren Z It's not a rip-off. If has similar plot points and all that, but the characters (The thing that matters), are all different in their own way, from the ones in A New Hope. Also, people act like the plot of A New Hope is somewhat original, but it's basic fairy-tale plot mixed with elements from WWII and western movies. It's about the characters, and if the plot makes sense.
The characters in The Force Awakens were great IMO. The only plot point from ANH that shouldn't have been was that Starkiller Base thing. Should've just been a First Order base on some snow forest planet, and they go there to rescue Rey, and the X-Wings try to destroy the base.
Mike Hunt Nope. It was a beat for beat rip off of _A New Hope_. Think about it:
-A rebel stronghold is raided by the evil empire.
-Important information is secured aboard a droid who is tasked with delivering it safely across a desert planet.
-The droid is captured by scavengers.
-The droid is rescued from the scavengers by an orphan living on the planet.
-The empire is dispatched to the planet to retrieve the droid.
-The droid and the orphan team up with Han Solo to escape the empire and deliver the information to the rebels.
-The heroes are captured by the empire but manage to escape.
-They eventually reach the rebel base only to discover that the empire's planet-busting weapon is about to fire on their outpost.
-The rebels launch a desperate, last-minute attack on the empire's planet-buster and emerge victorious.
Am I describing the plot of _A New Hope_ or _The Force Awakens_?

Grizzly Melon he used one hand in this fight but I've readed that makashi is one handed attack and with defence one or two depends on the situation
I found it so cool how Anakin was able to duel with two lightsabers trying to block Dooku's every slash towards him and it makes me happy to know that this wasn't gonna be the last time he used two lightsabers at the same time as he did so in two episodes of Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Episode 2 and I believe Episode 7 where he and Obi-Wan rescue Luminara from the Geonosian queen

B) By people laughing and loving things like the Harlem shake (yes..that), it shows we hate originality and instead just want the same things over and over. Hence why we get so many remakes of movies and tv shows. So don't complain when Disney gives you what you seem to want
I've heard that the reason Anakin apparently has his arm chopped off so easily is because Lucas cut some of the footage of the fight. In fact, originally, this fight was supposed to be only Anakin vs Dooku. It's not like Hayden asked for the fight to end like this, it was more like, he fought Dooku in a much more epic duel, watched the preview of the fight, said "I look like a freaking dumbass! What the hell happened to the other footage?" and Lucas goes, "Sorry, no dice. Screen time."
Late reply, but I agree with this entirely. I haven't watched this fight scene in years and only now noticed how bad the cut is in this scene, it's like the fight was supposed to continue but it just cuts abruptly and awkwardly into Anakin getting his arm cut off.
@Riviia492 another fight that was MUCH different at first was Mace Windu vs Palpatine. First off the 3 Jedi Council Masters would've actually been competent. Second Anakin was actually there WHEN the 4 Jedi arrive and Palpatine grabs Anakin's lightsaber (in fact if you look very very closely at one moment in fight you can see Anakin's hilt) and third Palpatine was gonna be way more acrobatic true to his full power but they didn't use stunt doubles. A lot more was different but there are videos explaining better

This is if not...one of my favorite moments of the Prequel trilogy. The fact that Anakin wielded the light sabers so fucking elegantly literally gave me goose bumps. Hell even when he cut the lights off. Now that was tradition.
But if only they made this scene longer...would I have loved it even more. Especially with the duel wield.

In my opinion Count Dooku was more a good guy than bad. He just went down wrong paths. Even at 2:44 you see he feels bad when he chops off Anikin's hand.

Obi-Wan gets slashed lightly in the arm and leg and stays out of the rest of the fight. Kylo Ren gets shot in the gut with a bowcaster and continues to fight.
Dooku's fighting style is basically using a lightsabre to stab at an opponent's pressure points.
Think of Tai Lung's special attacks with the addition of a deadly laser blade added into the mix.
I can easily see why Obi-Wan was incapacitated.
It's not just the gut shot. Kylo also took lightsaber strikes to the arm and leg just like Obi. The only difference being that Kylo was actually worn down at that point.

That's the point, Einstein. He is supposed to not look menacing without the mask. His tantrums are *amazing* and honestly, an unstable leader is way more terrifying than Vader's stone cold type. The chest pounding was great, channeling the dark side as he was playing with his Stormtrooper food. Kylo Ren was a beast and a great, original character. I am generally against these kinds of binaries but if one can't see his potential, one is an idiot. Extra points if someone spoke against the prequels and ended up now saying "well, they weren't *that* bad, compared to TFA"
We get so caught up with whiny and annoying characters, we forget how whiny and annoying Star Wars fans can get. No point in good movies coming out if we taint them with our whimpering and unrealistic standards.

Though I have the utmost reverence for the Clone Wars series (both 2D and 3D), my main critique was that of Dooku: as we see here in the movies - starting at 0:49 - Christopher Lee (God rest his soul) portrays him with a range of emotions, including a sort of subtle maniacal triumph. Compare this to his appearance in the show, in which he is portrayed as much more grim and reserved.

Jar'kai, the art of dual lightsaber wielding? Ah, such a cool skill to have as a Jedi, although Anakin had little experience with it at this point. He did utilize it later during the Clone Wars, although with much more skill and ferocity.

(Palpatine wanted to kill Dooku right there, but did not want to expose himself).
(Dooku would then talk about conversations that happened between him and Palpatine in private, and about how Palpatine got the Sandpeople/Tusken Raiders to kill Anakin's mother).
(Both Jedi, especially Anakin would look in disbelief at Palpatine as Dooku went on. He even told them about how he wanted to use Anakin. It was all starting to make sense. Obi-Wan and Anakin drew their lightsabers not at Dooku, but at Palpatine).
Obi Wan: "In the name of the Galactic Republic..."
Anakin: "You are under arrest."
(Palpatine sent out a wave of Force lightning pushing them back, and then freed himself of his restraints).
Dooku: "Get up you fools."
(Dooku told them as he went over to them).
Dooku: "It will take all of us to defeat him."
(They all readied themselves as Palpatine got up, as two lightsabers came out of his sleves).
Palpatine: "It's treason then."
(Palpatine then leaped at them from across the room red sabers twirling and clashing with Dooku's, Kenobi's, and Skywalker's saber's).
(The fight to decide the fate of the galaxy had begun).
Anyone is free to use this for a what if/versus, but be sure to credit me for the idea.

Stupid movie mistake. Anakin saves Obi-wan. During that saber lock, Dooku and Anakin are standing over Obi (that's the whole point). Then we see Obi-wan force grab his lightsaber to toss it to Anakin. At first I think "wait a minute, if he's lying right at their feet, why doesn't Obi-wan just slice Dooku's legs off right there?" Then we see the toss, then the wide angle shot, and... where the hell is Obi-wan???
Tesserex When Obi-Wan is getting his lightsaber while lying on the ground, he should have sliced Dooku's legs. The movie would have ended earlier and Dooku would have died.
Ok the fight was decent, honestly I enjoyed watching it...until the end. I didn't pick up on this when I was fanboying in the movie theatres so many years ago, but come on...that last strike was so unnatural...Anakin just stopped moving...

I honestly don't see what's so bad about this duel. I enjoyed watching this fight as much as I did watching Luke fight Vader in Ep. 6 or Obi-Wan and Anakin's fight in Ep. 3.
+DishonoredHero97 For one despite the terrible choreography, there is no emotion to his scene! Its nothing but some characters clashing lightsabers with one another. There's no history and tension built up between any of them other than they want to win the battle. To say this fight is just as good as watching the fight between Luke and Darth Vader in Episode 6 is ridiculous! That fight has so much emotion built up, there is so much more going on between the characters themselves outside of the actual fight. I'm sorry you didn't notice.

I love how Anakin’s light saber attack speed goes with the Dooku’s flow in the dark.
Anakin takes a small burst of lightning and can’t get up for a minute or two, Luke takes a full storm of lightning from Palpatine and still gets right back up to carry Vader’s heavy suited ass.
I broke my arm last week. When I’m tempted to indulge in self-pity, I just watch this and I feel better. At least I still have my arm!

Honestly looking at it now that was a very fluid motion from Count Dooku and there's no way you could react fast enough or even know he was going Anaki's arm.
People really need to calm down and show some respect to this fight. The bit with Dooku and Anakin in the dark was actually pretty creative and this fight does not deserve the negativity directed at it.
The negativity is in reality very low - the video has a 94% like rate and is sought out many millions of times in this posting alone - not to mention the other times it is posted.
Yeah... I remember when lightsaber cuts were devastatingly painful enough to drop even a Jedi Knight with simple slashes to the shoulder and thigh.
Now even whining wimps like Kylo Ren can suffer 2 shoulder slices, a cut to the knee and a blaster shot to the chest and keep fighting.
Or even non-Jedi like Finn can get his arm burned through for an extended period of time and still be strong enough to land more hits. Hmm....

I never noticed this til now, but Anakin and Dooku fighting in the dark reflects Luke fighting Vader in the dark. it's all apart of the poetry. the rhymes Lucas puts in his movies, and the look on Dooku's face after cutting Anakin's arm off. he didn't want to do it, but the boy kept fighting him. shows the conflict in Dooku. really want to overthrow Palpatine and that he was more of a gray Jedi
rather than a Sith. At the end of the fight he feels a little bit of

I thought it was because he was 80 years old and he fought and beat Obi-Wan who keep in mind was ten year older and more skilled than when he fought Darth Maul and Anakin who was already renowned and skilled as a jedi apprentice to the point where he was already thinking about taking trails to become a jedi master and who managed to put up a much better fight without giving Dookua break.
