    We just spent our first night in our R Pod. Same model as yours. 2 of us and our pomchi Hank. All slept on the bed comfortably. The rain helped make our first day of camping more fun. Especially wet muddy dog lol.

    Thanks for the short review. This is the floorplan that I like : Dry Bath, Permanent bed and Dinette. All in small form factor.

    Actually pretty nice!!
    I hope you enjoy it...I really prefer a cassette toilet! But it's just me and 3 dogs so it's more convenient..I would rather have more fresh water capacity than a hold for black water..

    I got a kick out of your dogs checking out the beds! "Well...I want this one, and she's sleepin' on that one...where are you sleepin', Dad?"

    What makes these things so alluring is freedom, just power up, water up and go.

    I commented on the other video, but am adding the following: I replaced the cheap spring mattress in mine with a futon and it is so much warmer and more comfortable. Also, instead of a coffee maker appliance, you can just boil a kettle and run the water through a Melitta filter into your mug or into a thermal carafe, low tech! Enjoy!

      I agree. I'm going to look for ways to simplify. This will be my first full season with an RV - there's a lot to be learned!

    I looked at one of these units and ended up getting a Jayco Hummingbird with the same floor plan. The seats are just a little bit wider and softer. There is also a lot more features including a power awning that the Rpod does not have. It was also considerably less expensive. You did a very good presentation by the way.

    When parking ur r.v. try to keep the top of ur head to the north for a more restful sleep. It works well. I do not know why.

    Thanks! Thought it was funny that the wife and 2 dogs get the queen size bed and you sleep on the bunk. Sad how cheaply they mount things. Mirrors double stick taped in a mobile unit. Glad you didn't have shards of glass to pick up. Nice by pass on stereo for using the overhead speakers. All in all good video.

    You got to be kidding, did they really build the bathroom with a mirror taped to the wall? trailers do bounce and shake has they go down the road.....And they forgot to put drain plugs back in..Seems that they don't really care ...

    The best thing about this trailer is the two adorable dogs that you added. No storage, a mirror that's taped on the wall,a water heater without the plug......

    • @RV6Pilot
      @RV6Pilot  6 років тому +1

      Yep, those dogs are pretty much why we got an RV in the first place. The quality, well.... I guess that's just the way the industry is. I hear the same thing from folks that own different brands, so it's not just Forest River. The initial build quality has me thinking about buying used when we move up - hopefully that factory installed problems will all be fixed by then.

    Thank you for the tour of your r-pod. I was wondering how well the air conditioning and furnace work?
    And as far as showering goes do you find that the hot water tank has enough hot water and is it hot enough?

    • @RV6Pilot
      @RV6Pilot  4 роки тому +2

      We sold the R-Pod a couple of years ago - it was fine for short trips with our dogs, but when we started taking longer trips we needed more room. The AC in the RPod was the same as the one in our bigger camper: loud, but very effective. The furnace also worked very well. Again, it’s the same unit that we have in the bigger trailer, so it works far better than it really needs to. We liked everything about the RPod except the shower curtain - we really prefer a door.

  • @Burkey612

    Hi RV12 Pilot , In the bathroom shot there is a white box with items inside it on the sink top. I noticed this in rpod I'd walked through and the box had what looked similar to what's sticking out of your box and some screws. I believe it said something about towel holder. Can you confirm what those are and where they go?

    • @RV6Pilot
      @RV6Pilot  8 років тому +1

      The two silver things are posts to hold the white plastic tube that hoods a roll of toilet paper. I thought the screws that were included looked too long, so I got some #6 1/2" self-tapping screws to replace them. I mounted it on the wall next to the toilet.

    So how do you like it? I'm going to look at a new one tomorrow! How do you think it would do full-time?

    • @RV6Pilot
      @RV6Pilot  7 років тому +2

      It would be okay full time for a family of one, for two it would depend on how much personal space you each need. The biggest issue for full-timing (and this is spoken as someone that has never done it) that I could see would be storage, and that would also be the biggest challenge in having more than one person. When we go as a couple, we tend to not have enough space for clothes. When we bring the dogs, we really can't do more than two nights - keep in mind that our dogs are 65 and 80 lbs, so they aren't what you would call small dogs. On the subject of tank capacity, you have 30 gallons of fresh, 30 gallons of grey, and 30 gallons of black. That has always been enough for us.

      RV12 Pilot Thanks for the informative reply. Nice video.
      I meant to ask you does it have a 12 volt plug in for when you're off grid? Trying to think of a way to power up my Sirius XM Radio. Choices are either 110 AC or 12 volt DC.

    Forest River builds cheap crap and they do not back their warranty. I know this from first hand experience with FR campers. Never again will I make that mistake, and I will take my business to another brand, such as Jayco.

    "Hot Water HEATER" is redundant

    • @RV6Pilot
      @RV6Pilot  7 років тому +12

      Well, I don't write a script. It's all off-the-cuff, and I've made much worse mistakes. I once said something aboud "turning left final" while landing my airplane and that isn't even a thing. And in my defense, that's what my parents called it. It's funny how much you retain from them. 55 years old and out on my own since 19 and I still won't consider any other toothpaste than Crest.
