Here I show how to mix 15 new colors, all made from just red, blue, and yellow (the primary colors).
I use acrylic paints here and my mixing tool is… the end of a spoon 😂
These are just some of the colors you can make from the primary colors. All colors can all be made from them.
Hope you enjoy! - Розваги
So to be clear, red and blue are not primary colors in terms of pigments (subtractive). I am a visual arts major, so I spoke to my professor about this and she was quite impressed. The thing is, even other traditional art mediums (especially ink and printing based ones) know this, it's just that the RYB model became popular in painting when other pigments were not so easily accessible. Try using cyan, magenta, and yellow as your primaries and you'll be capable of a much larger range, including everything RYB gives you and plenty more that RYB isn't quite capable of. For acrylics I recommend the Amsterdam brand's primary color set, for gouache Holbein is quite good and the cyan is actually more accurate there.
Nerd {joking🙂}
@@POOT221why even comment that in the first place?
@@ExtraLt-kh6ts It's fine, lol.
I remember seeing a video saying that the 3 colors you mentioned are indeed the colors to create more range!!
@@kayesdigginit1519Absolutely!
I would say “tea green” looks more like mint green. Great video, I’m a huge fan of art and appreciate interesting things like this.
mint tea 🌱
It is mint- YAY PILAGER RAID
nah, i think mint has a more blue tone right?
@@doesbadart13pretty sure its more like the “tea green” color
it's mint.
the colour "white" left the chat
I can’t tell if you are joking or not😅 But if you aren’t White is not really a colour. It is a shade of Grey.
@@pushpopluvingllama5709yup
White value
@@pushpopluvingllama5709calling white a shade of grey is like calling yellow a shade of green
It's a shade bro 😰
Wow, at first I thought to myself, why should I watch this? It's just a mix of colors I already know! Until you make lavender.. Dang! It is very cool!
It's very peaceful. I feel like I'm back in my childhood. Thank you.
Very novice artist here. Love your shorts. Have started playing with 2 - 3 colors on a daily basis just to see what comes of it. Thank you for helping me better understand color and what can be achieved through simple blending exercises. Especially love your using the flags as a base. So clever.
If anyone is confused:
White is not a color.
The spectrum of white to black are shades. White being the epitome of light and black being the absence of light.
So depending on how much light is added or subtracted, you get different shades of grey.
Adding/subtracting “light” or white/black to the colors, you get different shades (or hues) of the color.
So he didn’t add any extra COLORS, he added the element of light to the colors.
Yes it is, and so are gray and black. They count as some of the 16.8 million, 4096, 256, 128, 121, 96, 64, 48, 24, 16, 8, 4, or 2 colors in computers, crayons, pencils, and markers; but they are just not _hues,_ so they haven't counted as "colors" in B/W TV/other video, film (or photography in general), copying, and printing; and the "color" versions of those things should've been called "hue TV," "hue film," etc., but the term "hue..." never stuck, so we have the imperfect terms "color... ____ " instead. As they say, "It is what it is."
RGB would like to know your location
White and black can still be considered colors although you are right that white contains all non- gray scale colors and black is the absence of them.
Same argument for zero being the absence of number yet it gets the treatment of a number
however, the title does not say "15 colors from 3 primary colors and an element of light"
I love the way these are pigmented!💗 What brand of paints are these if you don’t mind me asking?
Second this!!
I’m learning how colors mix and make from this. This is awesome, I know how lavender is made now.

Man do I love the colours jam, tiger and penny.
Now do this with Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta, the true primary colours of pigments (subtractive primaries).
Also try it with the ones that you don't treat as brand names for some odd reason...
(...in the _color gamut_ that uses CMY as the primaries, that is).
Tea green is actually just mint!
I love the sky blue and the lavender and the pink ones those were so cute and pretty

Before I went to school, I actually thought Green was a primary color because of how often it was included with the other three. It’s also my favorite color so I had some bias. Jokes aside, isn’t Green a part of the light wavelengths? Like Magenta, Yellow and Cyan are for paints but aren’t Red, Blue and Green associated with photons?
You beautiful soul 😊
Yes I believe the primary colors of light are red, blue, and green (RGB) which are different from the primary colors of paint.
Alright. Reject RYB, embrace CMYK
Yea color theory is different from the computer science stuff
HSV and HSL is mostly familiar to most people who use algodoo and paint.

Red blue is primary guys
@@ShahirahShafri259 For pigments, it's not. Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are the 3 primary colours. Red Blue and Green are only primary for additive colours (like computer screens), not subtractive like pigments.

Try using CMY with white and black! The colors with be brighter than RYB or RGB but idk how to explain cuz idk color theory

Yeah it's not, magenta is primary. You can't mix it at full saturation. Same goes for cyan.

The title of the video is correct, as he is only using red, yellow and blue as his primaries. White is likely not something you'd think of as primary, it is the absence of color in subtractive mixing. Before you tell me it's red + green + blue, remember this is paint mixing.
