The fundamental parts of polyamory are the consent of all parties involved, boundaries, and good, I repeat, GOOD communication. "Humans aren't meant to be monogamous" is an icky take on polyamory; polyamory is not for everyone. Healthy polyamorous relationships take work from all involved to maintain and ensure no one feels left out or like they're replaceable. Not everyone has the time, energy, maturity, and/or motivation to take care of the needs of multiple people. I will also say that cheating and polyamory are not the same. And those half-siblings are kinda just adding insult to injury. I love my partner and would never willingly cheat on them. On behalf of the poly community, I’d like to apologize for the amazingly tone-deaf comments of your half-siblings, who felt that that was the most appropriate time to mention that they are poly, and they think polyamory would have solved all your problems. Poly partnerships also have deal breakers, and poly people also cross those lines, and the middle of OP’s relationship melting down is not an appropriate time to say “I told you so!” about your mono loved one’s relationship ending. I mean… read the room. And that’s coming from an autistic stranger on the Internet. First, make sure everyone is okay, and if not, find out what you can do to help them become okay. Smugly lecturing people who’ve heard it before about how polyamory is the superior relationship style is like… #10 or #11 on the list. There’s a whole appendix on this in the “Interacting with monogamous people” book you get during orientation. This kind of mistake is why nobody likes vegans, in spite of the many reasons veganism is superior. Nobody wants smug assholes showing up to their cookouts to lecture them.
