    I remember in both the 2017 and 2018 nba finals. Steph Curry was getting double teamed every single time he was coming off of screens, The moment KD got the ball he had a straight run way to the hoop or a wide open shot.

    • @Joel_Aleman
      @Joel_Aleman 10 місяців тому +2

      The reason why is because there is not guarding KD. The way to defend a KD team is letting him go off and guarding his teammates. Usually shutting down his number two guy. KD isn't always super aggressive so he will moderate his own offense.

    He might be greater than Durant but when they player together, he definitely wasn't better than Durant and nothing says that he was better than Durant. Finals MVPs are the easiest way to put it but even when you look at the system and how people approached against the Warriors along with the playoff performances, KD has the edge in everything.
    The Rockets have openly said that Durant is unstoppable and putting two guys on him changes nothing because he'll still get his but the people around him are containable to a certain degree. That includes Steph. And we even saw him being the focul point of a defense when the Clippers tried to trap and double him when the series was tied 1-1 and KD took over and averaged 42 in the next 5 games and led each game in scoring while allowing Steph to still be Steph. But KD was so goddamn good in that series that Steph fully turned on him because KD playing his minds out led to wins with them.
    When you look at the competition on the other hand, apart from the Pelicans series in 2018, individual matchups wise, KD has always had a better primary defender guarding him than Steph. The West was loaded with these 2 way wings that they put on KD and KD still dominated. And the Finals are no question. Steph didn't have a great guy defending him in those Cavs rosters and KD was still, by far, the best player on that team on both Finals.

    • @cristianvogt1419
      @cristianvogt1419 10 місяців тому

      The thing is thats a flaw way of viewing basketball.
      In a 1v1 KD is better, but in a 5v5 Curry is far more impactfull. We still view players skill sets as if basketball is a 1v1.
      KD got the Finals MVP because he scored more, Curry was the one running the offense and forcing the other team to give advantages on defense.
      Boston stopped KD so is not true, but he can always find a shot. Curry can be stopped from scoring but the only way to do that is to leave his team open.
      KD ussually has 1 guy defending him and he dominates, the difference is Curry has an entire team guarding him. Curry doesnt get the 1v1 match up ever in not even 1 possesion.
      Teams fully commit to stop Curry even if that means play 4v3 or 4v2 a possesion.
      The Warriors kept turning to KD because thats the only way KD had impact in the game while Curry still was impactfull without the ball, on the other hand when Curry had the ball KD became Klay Thompson.

    • @kerke4639
      @kerke4639 10 місяців тому

      @@cristianvogt1419 One series KD struggles and you're pointing at that like that's always been the case. How about the Bucks series? Durant as the primary ball handler played better than Steph ever has.
      And to say Steph ran the show is just wrong. Draymond was the primary ball handler and they were running the offense around the guy on the best shot possible between Steph, KD and Klay but they gave the ball to KD a lot more because his ability to make shots with the ball in his hands is much better due to his height and ability to score from everywhere efficiently.
      And it wasn't just the scoring. Durant led Steph in 3 of the 5 major statistics in the 2017 NBA Finals, averaged nearly 10 more points than Steph and shot better from the field, 3 and free-throw. And in the 2018 Finals, he led in 4 of the 5 major statistics, including Assists and shot over 12% better from the field. Durant in that Finals shot less than Steph and yet made more field goals and scored more.
      And there is a reason why Steph is guarded more heavily compared to Durant. People have openly said that Durant gets his no matter what the defense does while Steph can be limited. And we saw that in the Bucks series. With nobody that can help on offense, Durant still averaged 35 points on 50% shooting from the field while also giving 6 assists a game. You can't stop him. The Boston series is an expectation. We have seen Steph struggle a lot more.
      And when it comes to big moments, they always went to Durant rather than Steph. That speaks volumes and KD delivered much more. And the reason for that is Steph has come up short time and time again in close games in big moments. Durant has literally hit the 2 biggest shots in Warriors Finals' history in back to back years.

      Who try to use the 5v5 narrative you do realize golden state plays around curry shut up with that Durant finishes and shoots the mid range better while still shooting the 3 at a high efficiency like stop that shit KD just the better player curry just has a greater legacy but when it’s all said and done KD will be the better individual player
