Really practical tips. Unfortunately or not, I pretty much always look like I slept in somebody’s van. No walk of shame, just always have projects going so I’m always a bit mussy. Shoes: Have at least on pair on hand that are clean and shined.
Yours is the only van channel I have seen that shows van life can be clean, neat, beautiful and gracious. There is nothing fake, deceptive, frenetic, out to impress or show off. It's wholesome, beautifully presented, inspiring, and I usually learn something important. Other times I just enjoy your company. Thanks for coming back. So glad you felt like it!
Thank you Dee. You may not realize it, but, you are a fashion icon in the van life world. Always put together and attractive. Many blessings to you and safe travels.
Dee, you are one of those people that no matter what you wear, you look wonderful. I love that you present topics like this for van lifers. Along with keeping one's van clean and neat, it is also important to ensure you are presentable in public. We men don't really concern ourselves about fashion but that our clothing is functional. I like to look neat and clean. The clothing I wear most times are shorts, tees made of non-wrinkable, wicking materials. Like you, I love shoes and have 10 to 12 pair in my van, including western boots (for dancing...lol). Once in a while I treat myself to a night out 😃😊. I donate a lot of clothes to Goodwill and will replace them with fresh items. I keep my dress up outfits covered in either a suit bag or in heavy plastic ( contractor bags) and hung on a mounted clothes bar. My tees, shorts, underwear are stored in one of the upright three-drawer plastic bins. Every item is rolled rather than folded allowing more variety of clothing selections.
Hi Dee, My wife and I are in Our 5th year of full time travel. Our vehicle is smaller than Yours so I think We probably are Minimalist. My clothing is 2 of everything. 2 T’s, 2 Underwear, 2 shorts, 2 long pants, 2 pair socks, long Johns (top and bottom, 1 Long Sleeve Dress shirt, light pullover hoodie, light down jacket, gloves, baseball hat, and winter hat. Wife’s is similar with 2 of each with additional underwear and socks. Shoes are flips, sandals, and hiking shoes. Merino wool is Our preferred fabric and all must be shed wrinkles fast, dry fast after hand washing. Colors are, like You suggested. Neutral, go with everything and layer, easily. Sorry, Wordy comment, I know but Your topic, today was spot on, as We were just going through our clothing to see if there were things We needed to change going into Summer. Thank You. Look forward to All your videos. See You out there.
@@ekdaufin1485 Actually, not doing laundry “all the time.” It takes minutes to wash out clothes. With right clothing choices, drying is fast, as well. Proper washing when near laundromat, etc. For us, it’s multi use, layering, and simple clothing styles and colors. May not be tight for Everyone, but, It works for us.
Basic minimal travel wardrobes are easy. Been doing them for years, but packing for a safari in Kenya and Tanzania was life changing for me. We were limited to 15 kilos including carry on That is a carryon sized suitcase. My subsequent wardrbe choices have pretty much reflected that same mix and match minimalism, as a result. I always have a single flash silk top that takes up no space or weight for a ritzy night on the town, plus a string of fake pearls that will dress anything up. Black looks terrible on me, as do scarves, so I rely on kharkis, reds and purples with black or grey pants. I also have a few floral or loud printed arty tee shirts as options for my base layer. A couple of merino jumpers/sweaters and a red and khaki fleece jackets. I avoid really cold climates as much as I possibly can, so no ski gear, but a good down jacket for sure and another that is a bit more arty. Arty is definately my style!
Socks tip - use all same light color and all same dark color so you don’t look down at work & and find you are wearing 1 one navy & 1 black or 1 khaki & 1 cream sock from an experienced dresser in dark room. Hard lesson learned😂
Great ideas... "dressing up" to go shopping or whatever...i find that earrings and a dash of lipstick, keeping hair and nails neat (I'm a polish fanatic but that's probably not most) makes me feel confident. TFS 😻 Britt
👋👩🐞I ❤️ how much information you share about all you have learned over time on your van life journey ! Thank you for sharing! Great video 👍🤗 Be Safe/Be Happy - I'll see you on the next video 🙂
Great tips Dee!😎👍 As a guy, my fashion life is simple in Vanlife.😁 Shorts and T-shirt is 90% of my wardrobe. I totally agree with colors that easily blended together for top and bottom.
Thank you for the tips. I also carry a handful of beautiful large merino/cashmere shawls, nice to put around your shoulders when it is getting a little bit cold - and can dress up a basic outfit perfectly. And in winter time, I just need them to keep warm.
I love this video Dee, I am not a van lifer, but I am now retired and work mostly outdoors around my home. I've always worked in suits, heels, full makeup, etc. I did give away 90% of my wardrobe. However, trying to establish a useful, minimalistic wardrobe that works for me now is new territory. Your advice, the 80/20, what fits, keeping items that don't wrinkle (no rips etc) , and textures such as the merino wool blends is very helpful. Most everything you talk about in all your videos is very applicable to my life. Thanks so much Dee, have a wonderful week! 🥰😀
In my experience, there are many people these days, particularly young people, who look like they slept in the park, not a van. Dee you're always wonderfully kitted out, you'd look good in anything! Check out men's clothes too, they are often cheaper and more practical. Clothes are often unisex now, particularly outdoor gear. Men seem to hate colours so there are lots of good colour choices left! Thanks Dee ❤
Thank You Dee - I am so happy you decided to keep making video’s as I really connect with your information, you inspire me to think outside the box! Another great and helpful video.
I am loving wearing Minnetonka Moccasins or boots more all the time. They allow my feet to move naturally. No arch supports allow my feet to exercise the natural arch & get stronger. Getting them wet is fine. Just let dry naturally & brush the deer skin.
Welcome back. Guys have it made. We wear t shirt jeans and shorts. If you've ever seen Walmart Ian's people look they just got of bed and came in the store without changing clothes. Lol.
Hi Dee. With planning you have quite the wardrobe. 🙂👍 Thankyou for sharing what works for you and maybe for others. Safe travels. Happy to see you back ❤️☕🚐
I found this very useful, even though I don't live in a van or camper I do live in a very small basement apartment with not a lot of storage so it's important to have only what I need and of all things I have the most trouble with clothes so thanks 😊
So many great tips for any situation. I love having a black and navy unfaded jeans in my wardrobe that I wear when I want a classy look. Love your storage suggestions. Van organisation is so important for mental health and wellbeing.
You always look very well put together girl. Sporty, stylish, comfortable and beautiful! Van life or not, you are rocking it in the fashion department.
YES. YES. YES. No reason not to show your best look on the road. Three secrets to share. #1 Capsule Wardrobe (some have it down to 40 items) #2 Packing Cubes (I traveled for six months with 7 cubes in a 32" LL Bean duffle bag & two 18" long compression bags (for footware and outerwear.) #3 Do hand laundry almost daily. Wring them out then lay on dashboard then cover with a microfiber cloth the same color as the dashboard. Even on the cold days its dry in 12-18 hours. So rarely have dirty clothes. Finally no rule you have to return with the same clothes you left with. Consider routinely swapping out a couple new pieces a month. I just feel better with something new in the duffle.
I love all 5 tips, they would be so helpful for when i go visit family. It would definitely help with packing and knowing i can pull out of the bag ready to wear. ❤ your videos
Very useful strategy, like your style, you look great! . Even if I love colourful clothes, when I travel I opt for neutral colours except for light large scarves ( pop color ) they don’t take much space and I can use them around my waist over a bathing suit , neck, shoulders, head when I ‘m cold, protect myself from the sun , use them with magnets as a privacy screen on my hatch ( I like when they float in the wind), and finally even to wrap things to carry on walks. Also I like to have a more dressed outfit if I’m invited for a special occasion. Have a great week!
Oh no ! My English is not good…I’m French speaking. I guess I wrote mean instead of ment? I just don’t know how is it possible to talk to you, which I would love
Also I like socks with motifs and Color they are like a smile at the bottom of my pants. Lately with aging and grey hair I’ve switched from black to dark blue, in French it is called bleue marin. I live just north of Vermont border in Quebec province.Cheers!
I don’t live in a van but I tent camp a lot and I mean a lot, I always bring one decent simple outfit in case I decide to go to a restaurant but the rest of my camping clothes…… is just about what has stains or some rips because I know I’m just going to ruin my regular clothes. Again I don’t live in a van though, it just takes me a couple of minutes to change to nicer clothes since my Gazelle tent is very roomy. Good advice but what I really want to know is how is it that you’re hair always looks amazing. Thanks for the tips.

WOW! I love it. Not only practical, logical but uniquely stylish. All basic but quality. You know Dee, I really understand. I owned my own 18-wheeler for 7 and 1/2 years. Lived out of my beautiful customized semi truck home. Space was premium and important real estate inside my tiny home. I thought similarly about wardrobe. I was going from one extreme weather to another so like you everything on board that I might need, had to be there. But not too much, because every piece has to serve several purposes exactly as you stated. I could be in the Yukon one day found myself in Florida the next week. I appreciate your summary on frabrics. Thank you for finding this video for me. I really appreciate it. I'm thinking about going out on the road again and I just enjoy your videos so much. ☮️💜
Great ideas Dee, & nice to see you back ,we have a boat & I have to keep the clothes aboard for both cold & hot weather, when it comes time to go home,I take all dirty clothes & linens & wash, iron & pack away for when we go out fishing again. It is a 36 ft. Fly-bridge cruiser built in 1989. A bit old but just what we need to go fishing & crabbing in. We are in our 70’s & this is our retirement, . Keep the videos coming at your leisure. Elaine from Queensland,Australia.
❤ Good Idea! You don't have to worry your in your PJ, when an emergency happens,or a stalker waiting for you! Plus you are ready for the next Day,less cloths to wash!👍👌🤞✌️🙌🙏🇺🇸🌞🌄
This is easily the area that's least covered, at least in the channels I watch. Being a guy, this is not something I put much thought into generally. Which means I mostly look like a bum! :) The only exception is in hiking/backpacking gear.
Lol! Yeah…It doesn’t matter if you aren’t planning to be doing anything but hiking and outdoor activities. But I often need to dress ‘business casual’ and not look like I just got back from a backpacking trip 😜 for work and conferences, etc.
I watched this with the chat from last night scrolling by as the video progressed. Was fun to see people commenting along with you, Dee! Some really great tips there. You really always do look so put together. Your ideas are obviously good! 😊
I have grays, browns blacks as well. For pops of colour and ease of storage I use scarfs - light summer and warm winter ones. I don't wear jeans as i find them hot in the summer, cold in the winter and take forever to dry. 💐 😊❤🇨🇦
Thank you for sharing such wonderful and useful clothing information. Your rolling wardrobe is well equipped. Everyone stay warm safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Hey Lady Bugout!! I really like your advice to dress appropriately, I am going to make more of an effort. You are too much and so good to see you back on the ol box!!
Hey Ms. Dee. gotta say your system works for you! I have heard from Cindy (my wife) many times, "Your're not wearing that are you?" I reckon I don't put much thought on my appearance. That's just me. I hope your path will bring you to Fredrock this fall, we plan to be there for Jonnie and Bev's meet-ups, would love to get to meet you. Take care of you, have a great day!
Great video 😊. Great tips no matter where you live. I have two rules for clothing, never pay retail (when I travel I love to check out the small town’s on the way, (they always have thrift stores) and when I buy something, something has to go. I don’t live in my suv, but I live as if I do, especially when it comes to “stuff” . As always, great job 😎
I have a base wardrobe that is mainly grey, back and dark blue. To add pops of colour I have two very lightweight sheer tunic tops that will go with all my base colours. They dress up even basic jeans and black long sleeve top and a pair of dress boots. They take up very little room and are very easy to launder..
Very helpful tips, you always look so stylish. No way you have that many shoes!!!! My tip is don't wear your shirt inside out. ;) Oh that has happened to me a few times, ha ha.
Sometimes some of us find ourselves needing to look acceptable, but are at the end of a laundry cycle or for some other reason need to be wearing somewhat dirty-ish or unlaundered or not-so-fresh clothes. I've been thinking about outfits that get around this. One thought is to have a pair of paint-splattered painter's pants, and to dress like a house painter or an artist. They can get away with it. Or a mechanic. They can have a fair amount of grease on their clothes (and hands) and still look legit or respectable enough, at least in some settings (like supermarkets, WM, streets, parks, etc.). Dark denim can look okay for quite a while without being washed. Levi's (including the head of the company) even suggests NOT washing denim very often, for various reasons (like extending the life of the denim, minimizing slow damage from washers, dryers and detergents, and environmental benefits). There are high-end custom artisan denim jeans makers who advocate rarely or even never washing the denim. These jeans can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. There are collectors and fanatics who actually treasure these jeans. Some Japanese makers go all-in to make the perfect pair of custom denim jeans. Cowboys can also get away with it. The real cowboys who spend their days riding in the dust... Mechanics can get away with it. All these people can look legit (and like they actually work and do something useful) while wearing dirty, dusty, paint-spattered, and definitely not freshly laundered clothes. I haven't followed this line of thinking out completely yet, and would be interested to hear constructive feedback toward making it (or anything similar) work as well as possible.
That’s a very interesting thought process. No need to overthink it too much. Many people who are not in vans wear whatever they want as well. I’m just trying to give a perspective that there are small things that can make a big difference😝
@@LadyBugout I do worry a little about getting arrested for impersonating a legitimate person. ! Or being an imposter. ("Imposter syndrome.") But it's a little unusual to feel you are an imposter if you are just trying to look legit or respectable.... This van (or SUV or other vehicle) life-of-Riley lifestyle can make you feel like you have something to hide or something to apologize for, or like you're not a legitimate person living a legitimate life. I suppose I don't really mind at this point, except regarding my own self-image. Public personas are another thing. Then there are the "people of Walmart" videos. Some real doozies can be seen there. There is the approach of just blending in wherever you are.... I guess it's good to look at least average in respectability.... *** I do go without showers at times for longer than I would like. I have a horror of smelling bad (I mean seriously bad), and I wonder sometimes how I smell to someone with a sensitive nose. I really would like a few contingency alternatives just in case. Smoke is one that I have. By standing for a few minutes in thick smoke from a campfire, it is pretty effective. You do smell like smoke, but it masks anything else. Indians used to do this before hunting. Strong perfumes are objectionable to many people, so they are out. I guess just sponge baths or bucket baths can be arranged just about anywhere. Though I was on my last cups of water in the desert earlier this month and needed to conserve it for drinking. I did not have enough water to bathe.... You're right, I do overthink some things. It can be interesting, though, at times. Entertaining. Even useful.
I spend 5-6 months at my brother's in Minnesota and keep different clothes there than I do while traveling. More warm clothes and country clothes because I am around animals and have to wear things that can be jumped on, lol.
Hi girl. Glad to see you back! Have you seen what some of these other gals are not wearing, on their channels? You by far are one of the nicest dressed women that is boondocking out of a small van. Just curious what your parents think about this boondocking adventure with you? Are they supportive? Now I too live in an RV, 5th wheel to be specific, but I pay to stay in an rv resort. I sometimes envy what you all are doing out there and your exploring places of interest.
Amazon has a shatterproof n bendable mirror that comes in squares that can be stuck to a wall but I'm thinking it would be very easy to strap them together to make a foldable unbreakable full length mirror that could be hung on the outside of your van for when you would like to see how you look. Then fold back up and put it behind a dresser or under a mattress for storage.
Thank you to all who joined me! So fun!

You always dress well, Tim!
What dresses you the best is your smile 😊.. be good! Bye 👋

Yes, mosquitoes can be menacing!!! Lol…well, I hope he sees the logic 😝
WOW!
☮️💜
Wow! Sounds like you really do understand. Very interesting life. Thanks for sharing this with me😊
Great ideas Dee, & nice to see you back ,we have a boat & I have to keep the clothes aboard for both cold & hot weather, when it comes time to go home,I take all dirty clothes & linens & wash, iron & pack away for when we go out fishing again. It is a 36 ft. Fly-bridge cruiser built in 1989. A bit old but just what we need to go fishing & crabbing in. We are in our 70’s & this is our retirement, . Keep the videos coming at your leisure. Elaine from Queensland,Australia.
Thank you Elaine! It’s good to be back. That’s a great way to stay organized and ready to go!!!!🙌🏼💃🏻🤗
I'm in trouble. My entire wardrobe looks like pajamas . Excellent tips. Clothes, too many is a weakness for me. And I am n9t fashionable.
Lol…hey, if they make you feel good, go for it!!!
You're always put together, according to what I see👍, and have a Happy Memorial Day!!🤗🎉🎉
Thank you, Maxine. You too!!!
❤ Good Idea! You don't have to worry your in your PJ, when an emergency happens,or a stalker waiting for you! Plus you are ready for the next Day,less cloths to wash!👍👌🤞✌️🙌🙏🇺🇸🌞🌄
There ya go!!! I didn’t even think of that🤗
Should of been a model🥰
That’s kind of you💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
This is easily the area that's least covered, at least in the channels I watch.
Hey Coralie! It was fun to be ‘live’ with people. It inspires me to think of doing a livestream for sure now! 😛
The verdict is as often as possible to rehome the good use items 😀👍
Agreed!!!
You could wear anything and you would look fantastic.😊
Aww thank you, Pam🥹
I have grays, browns blacks as well. For pops of colour and ease of storage I use scarfs - light summer and warm winter ones. I don't wear jeans as i find them hot in the summer, cold in the winter and take forever to dry. 💐 😊❤🇨🇦
Awesome! Scarfs are a good idea🤗
Thank you for sharing such wonderful and useful clothing information. Your rolling wardrobe is well equipped. Everyone stay warm safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Glad it was helpful, Norm! ☺️
I always put all of my red colors together in the same area of a bin or drawer and label the outside.
Great idea!!!
hey Miss Dee, so glad to see you back, like all of your followers
Thank you, Glenda!!!🥰
This is great! I'm a merino girl too!
It’s a great fabric!!!☺️
I only manage to get out of my sticks and bricks without wrinkles about three days a week. LOL
Lol…it happens😝
Hey Lady Bugout!! I really like your advice to dress appropriately, I am going to make more of an effort. You are too much and so good to see you back on the ol box!!
I’m glad it was helpful! Thank you for being here💃🏻🙌🏼🐞
What a wonderful idea for a video, so refreshing as I haven't seen anyone else doing this. Please make more on this topic.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Lynn!
Hey Ms. Dee. gotta say your system works for you!
You do you!!!🙌🏼💪🏼💃🏻
Thank you for sharing, you're very organized.
Hey Rita! You are welcome☺️
Hey Bug Lady aka Pizza Lady....luvu & your bug! I'm happy to see both again ....keep those spirits high & don't sweat the small S¢€t!!!
Thank you!!!
Those are great tips, Rick!
Great video. Now I feel much validated for having 6 shoes and 1 winter boot in my van. I like variety.
Lol…It’s still crazy to me that I have so many 😝
Miss ur energy ❤️💫🙏
Sending u loads of love 💫
Same!!! 💃🏻🐞🙌🏼💪🏼
Thank you for sharing all those tips. I have mainly black clothes. I do like cotton though as I love the soft feel of my cotton tops on my skin.
You are welcome! Yes, cotton is soft!!! ☺️
One of your best things is that fabulous hair!
Awww, well I’m planning on a video about it coming soon😝
I have a base wardrobe that is mainly grey, back and dark blue. To add pops of colour I have two very lightweight sheer tunic tops that will go with all my base colours. They dress up even basic jeans and black long sleeve top and a pair of dress boots. They take up very little room and are very easy to launder..
Great ideas! Love the tunics🥰
The full length mirror is a real thing.I do the old army gig line( buttons on shirt belt and pants line up) and hope for the best
Lol yep… get those buttons lined up😆
Very helpful tips, you always look so stylish. No way you have that many shoes!!!! My tip is don't wear your shirt inside out. ;) Oh that has happened to me a few times, ha ha.
Hahaha I have had that happen on occasion 😛

Good tips that translate to a "male" point of view as well. Thanks Dee..
I was hoping that would be the case!!!

You always look great!!!
Thanks for all your tips - gone change my wardrobe!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Dee. Very practical and versatile.
Thank you!!!☺️
Sometimes some of us find ourselves needing to look acceptable, but are at the end of a laundry cycle or for some other reason need to be wearing somewhat dirty-ish or unlaundered or not-so-fresh clothes.

I do go without showers at times for longer than I would like.
Paint-spattered sneakers are actually a thing. You can even buy them new. I think I've seen pants and sweatshirts too. Spatter chic.
Loved the advice and the shoe storage right on.
Glad it was helpful!!!
I spend 5-6 months at my brother's in Minnesota and keep different clothes there than I do while traveling. More warm clothes and country clothes because I am around animals and have to wear things that can be jumped on, lol.
Yes, having animals would create a whole different set of circumstances😛
That was a lot of fun! Definitely go live sometime!!!❤
This has given me incentive. Not as scary as I made it out to be in my head😝
Great video, looks like you covered everything.
Thanks Jason!!! 🤗
It's very difficult for me to select what clothes are necessary and what not. I'll take into account your tips! ❤
I’m glad you found it helpful☺️
great advice how to look great on the road. Also good advice about only keeping and taking what you actually wear. I need to purge 😂
Lol…it’s definitely a process!😝
My parents have both passed. But my family are very supportive of me!!!
@@LadyBugout I'm so sorry and my apologies for getting personal.
Thank you very helpfull inf😊🥰
Thank you, Nancy!☺️
Amazon has a shatterproof n bendable mirror that comes in squares that can be stuck to a wall but I'm thinking it would be very easy to strap them together to make a foldable unbreakable full length mirror that could be hung on the outside of your van for when you would like to see how you look. Then fold back up and put it behind a dresser or under a mattress for storage.
Interesting suggestion. Thank you for that. ☺️
every cool
Thank you! ☺️
Really good video! Good tips! ❤
Thank you, Malin!☺️
Most of my clothes are black. If not. They are very dark. Only one print top. I like solids. Thanks for the wool tip.
I get that!!! It’s just easier 😛
I love wearing black leggings or jeggings
They are very comfortable!
Love your color schemes.
Thank you! 💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
Great tips. Thank you so much!🌺
You’re welcome ☺️
Oh! Dee . . . .
This video is very, very helpful to me.
