The Wheel of Time Season 1 RECAP (Watch before Season 2!)

- This is EVERYTHING you need to know to catch-up on The Wheel of TIme season 1 before season 2 airs this week on September 1st! This recap of season 1 tells the story of the Dragon of the past all the way to the present in chronological order.
We learn of Moiraine, the Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah who was trained in the White Tower in Tar Valon. She and her partner Siuan Sanche, the current Amyrlin Seat, have been searching for the Dragon Reborn for 20 years. Moiraine and her Warder Lan were led to the Two Rivers, where they met Rand al'Thor, Perrin Aybara, Mat Cauthon, Egwene al'Vere, and Nynaeve al'Meara, all potential candidates for the one true Dragon Reborn. They fled their home after being attacked by Shadowspawn (minions of the Dark One) and eventually made it to a place far to the north where the Dragon faced a man who called himself the Dark One. The Dragon faced the man at the Eye and might have freed the Dark One from His prison.

How would the war of power have looked like? What type of battles would have been there? The society was tech advanced, flying cars and what not... But they did not foster the warfare doctrine or engaged in arms race. So was it a thousands of men charging at each other with blades and shields with glass skyscrapers skyline in the distance? Or was it trench, barb wire and artillery barrages across the no mens land? Areal bombardment with saidin guided missiles reigning down on barbarian masses of trollocks (they probably didn't use a sophisticated combined arms tactics)
I wonder about that too. Think Star Wars. That's how I envision it anyway.

As always great video! I do, however, take exception to one thing in it. Egwene did NOT heal Nynaeve of burn-out. Look closely at Nyn's face. She never gets to the point that her eyes and face are completely burned out. Like Liandrin in the cave with Logain, she was in the beginning stages of burn-out but quit channeling before the point of no return. She did get closer than Liandrin did to death, but both of them were able to allow their bodies heal themselves by simply stopping their channeling. Egwene did nothing in that scene.
I said "burn out wounds" but yeah, I could've worded that better.

It's just Trajan Pro. I think that's what they used for "3000 Years Ago" and "One Month Later" so I tried to kind of match that.

After your Season 2 previews, I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll have a better production than S1 was. Maybe even a great one. (Also, love the snarky side comments about some of the choices they made in the show lol)
I do think production quality will be improved a lot. I'm not sure about book/show changes though, but I'm still excited!

Awesome recap! Season 1 had it's problems, but I'm still excited for Season 2. I've been wanting to make a video outlining a few theories I've been considering, but definitely won't have time before the Season 2 premiere. Sorry for dumping this here, but I don't have any WoT fans in my friends/family so don't really have any one to talk to on the subject. And I have a great level of respect for the content you create! (Also, I came up with these on my own, but of course, I'm sure these may already exist in some form)
**MILD SPOILERS**
1) The Wisdom Lied: The previous wisdom of the Two Rivers lied about what happened to her when she went to the White Tower. I think they tested her and found she either couldn't channel, or was not strong enough to ever become full Aes Sedai. This angered/embarrassed her, so she went back and told everyone that the White Tower turned her away because of her appearance. And it seems she passed that resentment onto Nynaeve. Seems unlikely that the White Tower would turn away a girl who is willing to learn simply because of her clothes/accent. Especially when it is established that Siuan must have come to the Tower in a similar condition and she rose to be Amirlyn Seat.
2) Perrin and Egwene's Secret: I don't think Perrin was in love with Egwene. I think before the events of the show, Perrin and Egwene shared a harrowing experience together in which one or both of them almost died (along the same lines as the igloo from Book 5). This formed a bond of platonic love between them, but made it clear there were no romantic feelings. Nynaeve, however, doesn't believe their love is platonic and thinks that Perrin has romantic feelings for Egwene because of this experience. This was the event that caused Egwene to begin her relationship with Rand and Perrin to propose to Laila. Laila fully believes Perrin and Egwene's love is platonic, but she eventually becomes disheartened as she believes that Perrin still loves Egwene more than her, even though it is a different kind of love. This causes her to question their marriage and explains why they are so rocky in Episode 1. Perrin and Laila did love each other, but their marriage was more out of circumstance as the Two Rivers is a small district with limited options. Perrin says: "The only woman I've ever loved is my wife". The simple truth, as he was referring to romantic love. The Black Wind says: "You loved another woman more than your wife." Also true, it was just a different kind of love, and Perrin knew that. He was guilty that he felt more for Egwene than he did for his wife, albeit in a different way.
3) Egwene Didn't Heal Nynaeve: No way Egwene would have had the strength and/or knowledge to bring Nynaeve back from the brink of death in the finale. I think the circle of the One Power formed by the women acted like a beacon that drew in either a member of the Black Ajah, or possibly one of the female Forsaken (although it is unclear whether or not they are free yet). They witness they events, but remain in the shadows until after the Circle is broken. They then discreetly heal Nynaeve, letting Egwene think that she did it. The Shadow's goal was always to turn Nynaeve to their side, so they wouldn't risk her dying.
