Like in 3D animations, it's the little IMperfections, not the "pretty" parts of her face, that make her pretty convincing. From the little blemish on her chin to the slight skin sagging on her neck and eyes to show "age," if this was a still photo, I'm not sure I'd be able to tell her from a live person. The eyes are a little blank, but some people get a bit glazed when in front of the camera.
I know this one is a robot. i was thinking back to the youtube "lisa" robot video, and speculate that before we cross the uncanny valley, we will see a youtube video that shows a real woman convincingly acting like a robot.
I'm actually quite impressed! Usually these androids creep me out but this one looks really lifelike. All she needs is a good lip-syncing mechanism and she'll make a good terminator.
A realistic robot has many applications. Some people prefer a human look as opposed to a machine. They can also be used as a sex toy. It's fucked up, but completely possible.
The technological singularity is a theoretical future point of unprecedented technological progress, caused in part by the ability of machines to improve themselves using artificial intelligence.
why does 'the singularity' scare people into convincing themselves that 'super intelligence' is something to be afraid of? Is it possible that 'super intelligence' and 'singularity' could also mean peaceful co-existance?
That's a great question. I think because the industry in terms of realism only began to hit its stride in the mid-90's, coupled with the fact that the entire thing is still in the acceptance stage and isn't taken fully seriously, there hasn't been enough examination into that yet. But with greater realism will come greater attention and it will bring more study into that. Right now, all we have is hope. At the very least, we know it will help the shy (and clinically shy) and the disabled.
Think about it... that looks pretty much like CGI from a few years back. In a few years, these things might look indifferent from humans, except to those few with huge Uncanny Valleys.
Why does everyone forget we have muscles in our lips? The only way you're going to REALLY get a robot that doesn't freak someone out is the day you can make one that can pucker. Also, it's fairly obvious the eyes are not being used to focus on people. Basically, a robot that looks more obviously unrealistic would be more attractive.
@DonReedProductions The voice could still be a recording but the person could be real. Here in the theatrical, stage and film business we could recreate this without any problems.
at 1:47 she doesn't look the slightest robot'y and even on the other times she looked human but slighly robotic, but right at the time she looks real!!
This is a lot less creepy than some Japanese androids. Since her face is more relaxed, she's a lot closer to human than some, and on the pleasant side of humanity. However, the lip-synching is terrible.
@monkeyjoe9 Sure. Check out the video series called "Technocolypse" It came out about three years ago but gives a good rundown of most aspects of transhuman theory. Including the theorized "sigularity" and most other things having to do with artificial intelligence. There are some good videos on google/video that are free. Try typing into google video the name Hugo de Garis. It should pop up with a bunch of documentary and other type things explaining all that stuff
"In the beginning, there was man. And for a time, it was good. But humanity's so-called civil societies soon fell victim to vanity and corruption. Then man made the machine in his own likeness. Thus did man become the architect of his own demise."
Of course. But maybe there would be a line where copying & emulation might start to verge on " real " emotions. ( Ex.: S.A.R.A.H., the AI in the Sci - Fi / Syfy series " Eureka " admits to having " artificial emotions " ) A domestic robot / android would indeed be expensive, hence the option to rent a " domestic " or " companion " robot rather than buy one, unless you're Bill Gates or Richard Branson.
I have a buddy in Jersey who is about to release a doll called the True Companion (Truecompaniondotcom). It's the first legit Sex robot, and it's going to be shown at the AVN Expo in a few weeks. One of his goals is to end prostitution/human sex trafficking with these. It's definitely an amazing product, and once the costs get as low as a high-end TV set, I can forsee sex crimes going way down. Just imagine less rapes, less prostitution. Shy and disabled people able to have happier lives. Sweet.
anyone finds these android robots kinda creepy? rly... dunno if it's the way they move or the fact that the mouth doesn't synch with the sound of the voice, but rather moves randomly... anyway I find these robots kinda creepy...
Actually, she's a gynoid, not "android". Android mins "man-like", and she is "woman-like" robot. Atropoid can mean "human" in general, but we never use this for robots.
That's true. However, there are lots of cases where Men or Women have turned to having sex with the underage because they've had trouble finding partners their own age. It's usually do to deficiencies in personal growth and development. It can also be a sign of a person trying to recapture a lost time in their lives manifesting itself through inappropriate sexual behavior.
It is scary.. imagine walking down the street into a group of people... you'll have no idea who is a robot or real. Not to mention all those robot movies where they turn bad... =3 Have you seen the Big Dog robot? that thing is freakin terrifying!
"Friendly robots are wanted." I should have told a law in this society. Male features, powerful, offensive and tall big us to have a fear. But female features, poweless, tender and little lead us to have a favour. This law works in the occupations as follows: flight attendants, shop clerk and waitress. now.. you might find the point. Those occupations are strongly related to the interpersonal affairs which those robots work for in the future.
@sorrow26 I can assure you these kinds of robots wouldn't be used in wars. too inefficient and clumsy. I think there are some dog-shaped robots for war-zones in research in the US
@ILoveEpicMusic There is a Korean android named EveR-1 that shows displeasure if you poke her, and Japanese Actroids are fast enough to defend themselves from slaps or pokes. I guess that's as close as we can get right now.
That's possible. Feelings might be a tough one to create to a robot, and still to be different from other types. I ment that it's hard to see a difference by looking at it. Anyway, I'm not the one creating these after 100 years. :P
The winking of the female robot is too slow, that is making her robotic. Also I see no lightening in the eyes. But it's interesting! Her talking and small movements of the hands. As a receptionist I can see her working (in my imagination) greetings to the (real) creators.
well, the first few seconds I really thought she was real ... but somehow her lip motion is not quite right. This is definitely amazing, how far have already come in building a robot/an android, but it somehow still creeps me out.
>Is there any particular reason they always make female androids? yes. 1. female is protected. robot can avoid rough-handling . 2. female is fail-condoned imperfect robot will fail though people will condone it. 3. female gathers favours most of people already have the fear to the robots. so, it's the key to open their minds at the first contact.
I bet the things they show in Terminator Movies ie. Wars between Machines & Man are true.. Just give these experiments 2 more decades and then see where world would be
"The first ones had rubber skin.. We spotted them easy"
I don't know if Asimov would be thrilled or dismayed that we haven't come that far when it comes to robots.
I've seen a few of these on YT, but that is absolutely amazing. Could you explain in laymen's terms what the Singularity is?
I'm actually quite impressed! Usually these androids creep me out but this one looks really lifelike. All she needs is a good lip-syncing mechanism and she'll make a good terminator.
the enrichment center once again reminds you that, android hell is a real place were you will be sent at the first sign of defiance
Honestly she scares me. When they start to walk unplugged with a real AI, then I will start to be very scared...
I guess despite the constant warning in television, comics, mangas, film and novels.... we're still trying to create robots.... sigh
this robot wasn't wired to be quiet when others are talking
the only thing they need to make this thing creepily real is fix the lip syncing and blinking
So when are one of these going to be avalible for the bed room..for purchase i mean.
Notice how the psychologist mentioned the Singularity at the end.
@MachineFight
yeah it would be even weirder to see the mechanical jaws of the robot snap it off too...
I guess it's like when a security camera is pointing at you. You feel 'watched'.
why does 'the singularity' scare people into convincing themselves that 'super intelligence' is something to be afraid of? Is it possible that 'super intelligence' and 'singularity' could also mean peaceful co-existance?
16 years on, (today it's 18th of May, 2023) I wonder how much more this has advanced.
That is actually rather creepy. Hopefully they make a copy of Machinarium robot instead.
I don't understand why they have to make robots that look like humans. That just creeps me out.
animatronics made in early 90s movies are more convincing
"The problem is, what happens after the Singularity? And no one seems to know that..."
Well uh, that's kind of the definition of the Singularity...
That's just creepy. I've just seen Terminator too many times, I guess.
why are they trying to do realistic robots when they could try to do robots to help to commun tasks, and to care of people in hospitals??
she is lovely.i just hope these androids are not treated as badly as we treat each other.
Looks like Disney animatronics to me. Wait, I take that back. Disney animatronics looks better.
You do realize they already made robots that can ride bicycles.. right
Imagining about my golden years doesn't seem that depressing after all.
How do we know that this is not an actress wearing latex theatrical appliances pretending to be a robot or android?
Think about it... that looks pretty much like CGI from a few years back. In a few years, these things might look indifferent from humans, except to those few with huge Uncanny Valleys.
Wow, the eyes don't look creepy on this one.
You're right. her slow blinks make her look drunk.
@MissMiano you know i hear they have male units that have LONG tongues and they are programed to exstend the tongues when the something gets WET
If the Statue of David were able to move around like this I'll bet plenty of women would think it's hunky.
She acts and looks like a television news announcer.
I want to see robot with mind or heart like Vocaloid Rin Kagamine said to her song.
@DonReedProductions The voice could still be a recording but the person could be real. Here in the theatrical, stage and film business we could recreate this without any problems.
Even the female version of robots never seem to know when to shut up!
I have a bad feeling of what the scientists do behind closed doors with "her".
at least this one doesn't have that creepy high note voice.
This is was two years ago. We now have stuff twice as advanced as this.
I absolutely cannot see it as a thing. Could you hit it in a face or cut it while it`s talking for example?
We don't even understand how consciousness is produced by the brain, let alone generating it with a machine...
Great Channel. Hope your in fine spirits and all. Any good news lately?
Does the project continued?
so far this android has the most realistic facial features out of other vids i have seen. wow.
It would be cool if she said: "Fuck off! Hands off my face."
AFAIK Replicants were clones with short lives, enhanced strenght and programmed memories in their brains, rather than androids, Am I wrong?
i was expecting "her" to stand up and start walking around.
I wish they could make the eyelids on these robots close all the way D8 Is it that hard to use a material that can bunch up similar to eyelid skin?
So cool if we could de-plug our teacher when lesson gets boring :D
at 1:47 she doesn't look the slightest robot'y
and even on the other times she looked human but slighly robotic, but right at the time she looks real!!
This is a lot less creepy than some Japanese androids. Since her face is more relaxed, she's a lot closer to human than some, and on the pleasant side of humanity. However, the lip-synching is terrible.
I don't think it would have any effect on sex crimes, after all, rape is not about sex, it's about robbing a person of control.
Crud. Could you imagine falling in love with a women that happened to be a robot and you didn't know it?
If they were monsters or something, they would make awesome Halloween decorations.
estos videos tienen como un año o mas , que novedad hay , ya caminan y van a comprar el pan o todavia son paraliticos?
"In the beginning, there was man. And for a time, it was good. But humanity's so-called civil societies soon fell victim to vanity and corruption. Then man made the machine in his own likeness. Thus did man become the architect of his own demise."
Can anyone give a rundown on what the robot is saying?
This is one of the most realistic ones I've seen so far.
@Hroostertail Is that strange? We call Mario 'he' and Lara Croft 'she'. What's the difference?
this one is eerily close to a real person
Of course. But maybe there would be a line where copying & emulation might start to verge on " real " emotions. ( Ex.: S.A.R.A.H., the AI in the Sci - Fi / Syfy series " Eureka " admits to having " artificial emotions " )

She looked like she was contemplating something when he was talking about the singularity!
If they make her blink faster, make her pupils move more and improve the lip sync, she will be the best android in existence ^^
anyone finds these android robots kinda creepy? rly... dunno if it's the way they move or the fact that the mouth doesn't synch with the sound of the voice, but rather moves randomly... anyway I find these robots kinda creepy...
just walking into a room and seeing her it would take close range contact to work out you aint actually talking to a human lol XD
this robot combined with "real doll" ... Holy shit....
Woah that's a really realistic face! Great movement!
Actually, she's a gynoid, not "android". Android mins "man-like", and she is "woman-like" robot. Atropoid can mean "human" in general, but we never use this for robots.
Hey this is Keanu Reeves. Except this one is more lifelike.
It would be hard to tell if she was a robot if she wasn't stiff looking
Her eyes don't blink right infact they don't even shut all the way. She needs glasses and a camera around her neck to be complete
That's true. However, there are lots of cases where Men or Women have turned to having sex with the underage because they've had trouble finding partners their own age. It's usually do to deficiencies in personal growth and development. @KAsnuja I see you know the passcode. Do you also work for green leader?
I'm curious what they mean by singularity.
having one could be like an everlasting female that never grows old and always faithful
@Ramanoser well, imo any face that stares blankly into space is scary, but yeah, I guess that makes sense...
It is scary.. imagine walking down the street into a group of people... you'll have no idea who is a robot or real.
Not to mention all those robot movies where they turn bad... =3

Whoa...talk about Uncanny Valley. Still, stuff like this IS pretty amazing.
@idgonemad also,is it ok to microwave this ?
She has the personality of someone who works at Heathrow airport.
She's not only cute, but is programmed well to.And she most probably does not smell like dead Fish either!
The winking of the female robot is too slow, that is making her robotic. Also I see no lightening in the eyes. But it's interesting! Her talking and small movements of the hands. As a receptionist I can see her working (in my imagination) greetings to the (real) creators.

@MissMiano - wow, how scary is that, i read your post as the camera zoomed in and the android was talking, scared the shit out of me xD
>Is there any particular reason they always make female androids?
yes.
1. female is protected.
robot can avoid rough-handling .
2. female is fail-condoned
imperfect robot will fail though people will condone it.
3. female gathers favours
most of people already have the fear to the robots. so, it's the key to open their minds at the first contact.
I bet the things they show in Terminator Movies ie. Wars between Machines & Man are true.. Just give these experiments 2 more decades and then see where world would be
i think they already have, i'm pretty sure i saw something about it on tyra last year.
I hear that she's saying something about humans.
