Spectacular! Thank you! My husband and I took this drive several years ago. Stopped in Ouray at a saloon on a corner, German Shepherd laying by the door, and a fiddler playing the most wonderful music; they served Polish sausages sandwiches, delicious!. I reminisce!
Awesome series of videos! With the normal video speed (no time lapse) and natural sounds, it's almost like being right there in the passenger seat. Now if we only had "smell-a-vision" to experience the scent of aspen and pine trees....
Great 3 part series with smooth videos. Gives an idea of what to expect. I love Colorado and especially the southwest part. What a fun 5 hour trip. Very narrow on cliff at around 8:50. Love all your neat videos. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Didn't know there were three videos. Now I can tell my daughter that I spent the morning driving over Engineer Pass from Lake City to Ouray. She won't believe me though. I miss driving around all the roads in Colorado. I need to get out next summer and go for it!
This trip you took was fantabulous! Thanks for sharing these wonderful views of the Colorado mountains. Your brave to do this narrow dirt drive. I grew up where there are some mean roads around. Our County and tamed some of them since more people have moved into our area. Now they are worried that so many people are leaving us.
Half way thru part 2 it dawned on me that it said Sept 2018.... we were there in Sept 2018. I dont remember the dates but we took Alpine up out of Ouray but went up Poughkeepsie then Silverton for lunch. Back to Ouray via Corkscrew... We always go in Sept.... Thanks again for refreshing my memories
Very nice mountain pass with superb views. Done that several times easy drive during good weather but we came into an snowstorm in late August some years ago and the drive took more than 6hrs to get to Ouray.
Yes on a nice day these trails aren't bad at all. Add some snow and rain, it's a different drive indeed. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
@@donm8011 some years ago a guy from Texas with and large Chevy convertible and an airstream in tow wanted to go over Engineer pass. He made only 500 ft out of Silverton towards Eureka😉

Man, great trip. Looks like they musta had some heavyy rains judging from all the slides. I also noticed the #3 was a lot more shelfy and I would hate to meet someone on that one shelfy part where it looks like it was fixing to rip your roof off. Good video, nice and slow. Some of these videos now seem to make you sick they are speeded up so fast. All in all, very good video. Thanks.
in all the times we've done this trail, never once have we met anyone the the shelf section. I'm sure it will happen someday. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
I must give most of the credit to my Jeep and Gopro. My job was easy. Sit back and enjoy the views. I've done this trail many times and it never gets old. Thanks again.
This is always the toughest question I get. I don't want to discourage anyone from going to these awesome places. But leaving parts on the ground or a hole in your oil pans no good either. Maybe someone who took an Impreza on this trail will comment. Honestly I would rent a Jeep or side by side and not worry about anything but the views. Its pricey but not as much as getting towed off the mountain. Probably not what you want to hear but that's what I would do.
Yes we stop a lot for pictures and when the trail is busy you stop for other rigs to pass as well. I think a hour and a half wouldn't be possible under the best conditions. But that's been my experience over the years. The camera never really shows how rough these trails are which limit your speed of course. Thanks for watching.
Not really on the route we took. I always try to show the worst parts. Of course weather conditions change everything. We passed several non- modified Jeeps, suv's , pickups and a van. Watch your lines and have fun. Thanks for watching.
It's tight in places but nothing to worry about. I have seen all types of rigs on these trails from pickups to vans. Drive careful and enjoy the ride. Thanks for watching.
@@donm8011 I will be up there in Mid August. I expect it to be extremely busy this year because most of the trails are opening late. Did you make this run on a week day or weekend?
@@Zippy-da-Chimp We were there on a weekend and between storms so traffic wasn't bad. One year was so busy it was like a 4x4 parade. So you never know. Thanks for watching.
You definitely didn’t recorded a really dangerous part, before the minute 7:45 it’s a probably half mile spot that is the most close to go to the hell, me and my wife did this trail on 05/29/22 and we are alive because God never leave me alone on that trail, I thought we was gonna died, there’s some part on all the videos on this trail that no body record but whoever do it, be a very careful, the whole trail is amazing but it is a spot that can take your soul out of your body, just be careful
I have been on this trail many times and can't think of the part you refer to even looking back at the complete video before I edited it. But everyone's experience is different. Glad you made it safely and thanks for watching.
If you do it sometimes in this time of the year you probably will find it, your videos actually make go because it looks amazing and it is amazing, we drove from Nashville TN to do this trail but it was horrible part, this trail probably doesn’t have a good maintenance in the winter. But your videos motivate me
Always a tough question. These trails change every year with erosion etc. I say try it and if it gets uncomfortable turn around. I have seen all types of rigs on these trails over the years. You'll never know unless you try. An experience you won't forget.
When vehicles meet on a steep, narrow road which is not wide enough for two vehicles, the vehicle going downhill must yield the right-of-way by backing up to a wider place or by stopping to leave sufficient space for the vehicle going uphill to pass, except where it is more practical for the vehicle going uphill to return to a wider space or turnout. There aren't many turnouts on this stretch but surprisingly in all the trips we have made on this trail it hasn't been an issue, knock on wood. Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching.
Thank you for not ruining it with music! Great video btw

Great series of videos. What are you driving and how much do you air down your tires?
I drive a 2012 2 door jK Rubicon, 35 inch tires, 5:13 gears, aired down to 15 psi, no bead locks. Thanks for watching.
did you have to deflate your tires for engineer pass? if so to what?
Always a good idea to air down if you can. A lot of sharp rocks and also makes for a smoother ride.
I run at 15 psi
What camera are you using that’s some good quality
On this trip I used a GoPro Hero 6 black. Easy to use and built in stabilization. Thanks for watching.
Looks like a funnel cloud @12:50😳
Felt like one at the end of part 2 lol.
Is this the Don Miller that lived in Houston around 1980, worked at Merichem?
Nope. Very common name though.
What kind of clearance so you need to do this pass? I have a 2013 Subaru Impreza hatchback. Sits somewhat low.

It seems improbable the road is two way... How can two vehicles pass on that last tight section of deep canyon before Ouray?
When vehicles meet on a steep, narrow road which is not wide enough for two vehicles, the vehicle going downhill must yield the right-of-way by backing up to a wider place or by stopping to leave sufficient space for the vehicle going uphill to pass, except where it is more practical for the vehicle going uphill to return to a wider space or turnout.
