    Next at ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com, Andy takes it to the next level with the Xotic RC Booster V2. The RC booster has been a fixture on the boards of players that desire the cleanest boost money can buy, and the V2 is an upgrade in all respects. The RCB-V2 adds a second channel of pure clean gain, and Xotic has thoughtfully included a second footswitch to toggle between Gain channels. Now, you can set both Gain 1 and Gain 2 to different levels and change them with a press of a switch while retaining your EQ settings. With up to 20dB of pure boost, you can push even the stoutest amps into natural overdrive without coloring your sound. The master volume at lower settings even allows for light overdrive at bedroom levels. The EQ section of the RC Booster is a two-band Baxandall type that provides a 15 decibel boost or cut of guitar focused frequencies. Depending on the settings, this allows anything from a deep EQ scoop to a substantial frequency boost of Bass, Mids or Treble. For a completely flat EQ response, leave the Bass and Treble at noon and use the Gain knobs to punish your amp in the cleanest way possible. Players running the RC at the end of their signals have prized it for its high headroom and that has been retained, with some extra headroom available by running the RC at 18 volts. All this adds up to the cleanest, most versatile boost, hand built in California.

    I really like this pedal. I run mine with several other gain staging pedals and the RC always pushes me into Crazy Horse territory.

      Timmy, Fulltone, Xotic, Zvex (admittedly kind of cute), Wampler all have these distracting silly fonts, which stand out as being very odd for the demographic that can afford to have a board full of them. I suppose at least they don't have these silly graphics that makes absolutely no sense, Walrus being absolutely the worst offender.

    I have an Eastwood p90 special... used to sound okay but I stuck a Seymour Duncan on the bridge and a hot Tonerider on the neck (actually a mistake, the guy that set up my guitar got them backwards) and i don't even play it on the neck or bridge position. It sounds so good on the mid I don't even move it

    Is this like an updated EP Booster or something completely different?

    • @ElGrandero
      @ElGrandero 7 років тому +5

      It's an update of the original RC Booster, which is actually a clean, transparent boost, so quite different than the EP Booster. Whereas the EP Booster has a bass emphasis to fatten your sound and gets gainier quicker, the RC Booster doesn't alter your base tone as much and has controllable gain.

    • @joedoblhofer
      @joedoblhofer 7 років тому +1

      not

    • @kibbles1053
      @kibbles1053 7 років тому

      It sounds real similar, though. You have have two boosts/drives, and you can blend them together...It isn't that different.

    • @joedoblhofer
      @joedoblhofer 7 років тому +3

      the plimsoul has way more gain and less dynamics. it does have two gain circuits whereas on the rc2 you can switch between two settings on the same gain circuit. what might sound similar is that in this vid the rc is pushing the amp pretty hard, so what you hear is actually amp gain, not pedal gain. the differences are way more drastic the cleaner the amp. plimsoul is a great pedal though, but for a different purpose.

    • @joshrdealmusic
      @joshrdealmusic 6 років тому +1

      The simplest explanation...think of the Plimsoul as a overdrive/distortion that has two different "textures" of gain that can be blended and combined. Think of The RC V2 as more of boost that can increase what is already there. A Deluxe Reverb can get down pretty good if you push it hard enough with enough boost.

    • @Bentones1
      @Bentones1 2 роки тому +1

      The Plimsoul is nothing like an RC. It’s an overdrive distortion. A really cool pedal that has almost a TS vibe and the second gain stage is brighter which makes it a little more ocd sounding. But Nothing about Plimsoul sais clean boost. To me anyway.
