Old Rusty Sears Vise Restoration - Christmas Challenge Special
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 чер 2024
- This is a rare vintage Sears & Robuck Made in the USA bench Vise. It is a 3 1/2 inch Vise model 63-3. This was before Craftsman name became known, and estimated to be late 50's early 60's.
This is my entry to The Tool Addict’s and Hand tool Restorations, and scoutcrafter’s Christmas contest, be sure to check them out! I had a lot of fun learning how to make stop motion videos and I think they turned out great! Buddy the Elf was a terrific helper! :)

Thank you for participating, thank you for making such a great effort with the video too, the animation must have taken ages, I know I've just condensed 12 mins down to 13 seconds with jelly babies! Merry Christmas!
Yes it took ages! Thank you for the kind words and Merry Christmas!

it looks so good maybe you shoud think about starting an animation channel too !! p.s.
have added you to my list in my description , and will be doing a short compilation of everyone entered later in the week .
Wonderful! It took soo long, I was worried I wouldn’t finish in time for the contest especially since you guys are on the other side of the pond! I’m sure the more I practice the faster I can get 🙂

I came here looking for information about an old vise I found in my parent's basement.... Turns out it's exactly the same model as yours! Not nearly as rusted however. But I've learned some excellent tips how to restore it and get it back in service!

Great restoration! 🎅👍Merry Christmas!
Thanks! Merry Christmas!
Hello again! A good functional restoration. I dislike the look of cast as a rule, so bravo for cleaning that up. I liked the minimal treatment for the guide bar, many times I see restorations on vises where the guide gets the heck filed out of it, but that will just make the alignment sloppy. For constructive feedback, on a functional level, a triangular file could be of help to restore the grip pattern of the jaws, on an aesthetic level, some kind of treatment of the lettering may add interest. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you for the feedback!
Great job! Just a safety tip, it may sound counterintuitive, but you shouldn't wear gloves when using high speed rotating tools like your bench grinder - if your glove catches it will pull your whole hand in! 🙃
Thanks for the advice! Still learning as I go 🙂🤣
👍👍👍
Thanks mate!
